I cannot believe that a team would fire their manager with two weeks left in the season, especially when said team is leading the Wild Card. This is either absolutely brilliant, or tremendously stupid. I'm going to lean toward the latter, but we'll see. And Dale Sveum is taking over? I remember Sveum's work at third being something of a running joke during his tenure in Boston.

Have we ever figured out why "neutral" games end up in Milwaukee? Is this a Bud Selig thing or is there a legitimate reason?

Help Me Expand My Wrestling Repertoire
Cheech Tremendous replied to Garth's topic in General Wrestling
HHH/Cactus is the only one I'd have at ***** for post-'97 WWF. I've always liked Rock/Austin from X-7 (even with the finish) and Angle/Benoit from the '03 Rumble. I can see the arguments against both of those though. HHH/HBK/Benoit is a great from an emotional standpoint, but I've never been overly impressed with triple threat matches. The pacing is usually poor and a lot of the spots are really contrived. -
Help Me Expand My Wrestling Repertoire

WWE shows to seek out: WM III WM VI Royal Rumble '92 WM VIII Summerslam '92 WM X WM XIV Summerslam '98 I'll have to think a little more about WCW and ECW stuff because I don't remember the show names as easily. EDIT: Ha, I should have read Kamala's post first. -
Feeling okay today, but tonight's Oktoberfest. Take the kids to the neighbors because I'm coming home plowed.

Here's an Arctic Monkeys query that just went nowhere.

Don't worry Kamala, I've kind of felt the same way for a while. I worship '70 and '80s rock and don't really feel that there is much of an opportunity to discuss that stuff around here. But I've decided that I am going to start posting in the music folder. I have a new idea for a weekly thread that I will introduce sometime this week. -
Seven years, I think. So we just made it. Or was it seven years before you can steal a wrestling angle?

Stars from the 90's the faded too soon
Cheech Tremendous replied to Boxer's topic in General Wrestling
I typically try to downplay historical "what ifs" in wrestling, but I truly believe that Pillman would have been Austin's primary foe during the Attitude era. I don't think it's a stretch to say he would have had a 2 or 3 year run at or near the top of the company. -

I believe that they had a match on Raw right before Bam Bam turned face. -
Do you think Owings is good enough to stick around as a 4th/5th starter, or should a team like the Reds really consider making him a 1B or OFer? I always thought that his offensive performance seemed a little fluky, but there are scouts that say he has real talent. Hey, maybe Ankiel isn't the only guy out there that can make the switch.

The All-New "What are you listening to right now?"
Cheech Tremendous replied to a topic in Scavenger Town
This one of the few essential Floyd albums that I don't have. I've heard mixed reviews about it, and frankly, it's not that easy to find. Maybe I'll have to search it out now. -
Comments which don't warrant a thread.
Cheech Tremendous replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
Seems like the Music folder just needs some more active moderation. I was messing around in there today and found a lot of decent discussion buried in CWDWAT and some of the other all encompassing mega-threads. I'll start posting there more if I can find a place to wedge in my tastes and opinions. -
Despite my general indifference to the catalog of Aerosmith, Rocks might be the greatest American hard rock album ever made.

Cheech, that's the bar I referenced earlier in this thread. There's a couple other bars around downtown I could go to, but Cheerful is very nice for Sunday games. Relatively spare with people (certainly in comparison to the other days that week) and a fun atmosphere, cheap food and drink. If you ever go there on a day the Packers are playing and you see some short haired guy with a Favre jersey (now it has Flake taped over the name) getting animated with the TV, and flirting occasionally with this one bartender named Lisa, that's me. I've only been there a few times on game days, but now I'm 90% sure now that I've seen you there before. My first encounter with a fellow TSMer!
-
VX, do you ever go to the Cheerful Tortoise for Packers games? It always seems like there is a decent sized group of Green Bay fans there.

I've heard a lot of good things about this album. I think the only Metallica album I've listened to in the past two or three years is Master of Puppets. They've been dead to me. It's going to take a great effort to bring me back in.

So what's going on with forum108? Any updates?

With a special easter egg feature showing him sleeping on Noah Fentz' couch.

I always thought you were a Jags fan because it seems inevitable that they end up in Los Angeles some day and you wanted to get a head start. EDIT: By the way, this is getting really off topic. We need a new thread to discuss our favorite teams and how we ended up with them. It might be interesting.
-
But really, other than Vince hating Savage for whatever reason, how has he self-destructed? The guy left WWF on excellent terms in '94 and had a great run through the end in WCW. He accomplished about as much as he could with his level of talent.

I grew up in an area where geography prevented there being a "local" team, so my favorite teams were sort of acquired over the years in various fashions. However, I still subscribe to the theory that you have one team per sport and you stick with them through everything. Living in the northwest now, I have found an appreciation for the Blazers and Seahawks, but I wouldn't dare switch my allegiance. I'd feel like a dirty front runner.
-
By the way, what is wrong with us?
-
I don't know why, but I felt like posting this instead.
-
Don't worry, I'm staying in the closet. I have hard time facing the reality that *this* is the team I root for.

Haven't heard anything about this, but it could be interesting. That article kind of lost me when it said that this movie would be mentioned in the same breath as Raging Bull. There's hyperbole and then there's hyperbole.
