Supposing Hogan wasn't there, you still rather have seen Yokozuna leaving Wrestlemania IX the WWF Champion than Hart retaining? Other than the fact that I think Mania should end with the babyface going over, yes I do agree with that. The way the match was booked, Yoko needed to go over. Bret really wasn't the super babyface champion yet and Yoko needed a big win to solidify himself as the company's top heel. Bret got to over a year later when it was his time.

Bret as Lovable champion vs. Yokozuna as undefeated unstoppable big guy Different situations entirely. Andre had been the biggest draw in the US for the better part of 10 years and Hogan was an entertainment icon. Their clash was an early fed dream match. This is not even comparable to Bret/Yoko in any sense. Bret/Yoko was a match-up of a babyface who'd just been bumped up from the mid-card against the company's new hot heel. Yoko actually needed to go over in that match. Other than the size disparity, there's not many parallels. Hogan became a solidified star because he defeated Andre and ended "his streak". I think Hart could've gotten a similar treatment had he been able to do the same thing since Hart was going into the match as the underdog as well. That match didn't solidify anything for Hogan. That's silly revisionist history. Hogan had already been the biggest star in the US for more than three years. Putting him against Andre was a last ditch effort to draw a big house on Andre's name before he retired for good.

You know about the watches right? What was the deal with the watches again? They were a gift from HHH, right?

Top ten payrolls in MLB as of Opening Day. This is the first time since 2003 that the Red Sox haven't been in second place behind the Yankees.

Long Hammer IPA is very disappointing. Not enough hops.

Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08
Cheech Tremendous replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in The WWE Folder
It's odd that they continue to kayfabe the 16-time champ thing when the actual number is closer to 21. Wouldn't it behoove them to mention all of the title reigns and make him look that much more incredible? -
Should Austin come back for one last match at Mania 25?

Did I miss something? Austin quietly retired in 2003 after the match with the Rock. He hasn't had any matches since then. -
Should Austin come back for one last match at Mania 25?

Jeez.... Rock's not coming back. Ever. It's not happening and it's not worth it to go all fantasy booking in this folder. Take it to General Wrestling if you want to book some crazy dream scenario. Austin is already retired. Coming back for one more match and retiring again would only tarnish the fact that he stepped away under his own terms. I think that would be bad for Cena and bad for Austin. No dice. -
Should Austin come back for one last match at Mania 25?
Cheech Tremendous replied to Angle-plex's topic in The WWE Folder
I just don't see it happening. Losing to the Rock at WM XIX was the way he wanted to go out and he just doesn't seem like the type who'd want a grandiose finale on the big stage. I could maybe see another match a few years down the road, but I don't think that he's been gone long enough for that huge nostalgia kick and there's no natural match-up for him with the current roster. -
Pizza Hut has officially changed its name to Pasta Hut. Oh shit, son... JN News is going to be pissed. http://www.pizzahut.com/ No word on what's happening to its game face.

Hey VX I'm still mulling over your trade. I need to a contingency plan for 3B myself first.

The Rock Gets Major Heat for Hall of Fame Conduct
Cheech Tremendous posted a topic in Brandon Truitt
Discuss it in the Hall of Fame thread. -
The last poster, pre-Dandy derailment, was Luke-O. Here's our next contestant. I'm also running somewhat low on poster info, so if you haven't sent me 5 items yet, do it soon.
-
Naturally, there would be a group of guys wearing ties. But I'm also envisioning free t-shirts for everyone.
-
First we would need to have the TSM Convention, where all of us could meet and wear nametags with our poster names on them.

I was a non-soda guy for years, but have Diet Pepsi back into my rotation. I find regular, non-diet soda to be a bit sugary/syrupy for my tastes. The choice to go diet has little or nothing to do with the caloric value of the product. As far as Chinese Democracy is concerned, it's never coming out. I saw G n R live about 16 months ago and there more than enough tracks to cobble together an album. There's nothing more to do, which made me finally realize that Axl will never let this thing see the light of day.

Raw spoiler for Tonight (Post-Mania)
Cheech Tremendous replied to Thanks for the Fish's topic in The WWE Folder
I don't get why this would be a spoiler. It's obvious that they will do something for Flair tonight and the inclusion of Arn/Tully/Windham is something that should be advertised. The type of fans who care about tradition and nostalgia and all that jazz probably need to know those guys will be there before they tune in. -
That more or less reads like one wrestler being jealous over the special perks that Rock gets. For a guy in the business, the Rock's whole act is probably nauseating at this point, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Johnson has done anything inappropriate.
-
No. Hogan is in many respects the most successful professional wrestler of all time. It's ridiculous to think that anyone could have matched his success, especially a guy like Idol.
-
I disagree. The only thing even halfway memorable from that entire show is the Hart-Yoko-Hogan title debacle. I don't think it was good for the belt or the company, but from a historical point of view it is something unique. Had Hart retained it would have been a Mania filled with bad matches, a heatless main event and no memorable moments. I'll take screwed up over boring every day of the week.

That bio had some fun info, but I also remember it having glaring holes and egregious mistakes concerning timelines and his career in general.

I say we bring back of fanofcoils to do a weekly movie review.
-
He could, but the issue will always be whether or not he outshines the guy he is managing. Flair's so good at talking and getting heat that he runs the risk or marginalizing the guy he's there to help out.
