Thanks for everyone's help and cooperation during the ownership/mod changes of the last week or so. I think there have been a lot of positive changes in the wrestling folders and discussion and interest seems to be on the rise. Some people were crediting me for that change. Really, there is no need for that. I didn't do anything other than some housecleaning. It's the posters bringing the quality. Anyways, I'd like to keep this thread open and used for discussion regarding the state of the folder. Use it for ideas or comments about the future. I am still trying to sort out some of the issues since the closing of the General Discussion thread. I've had an idea for a couple of new threads, but I wanted to toss them up for discussion first. I don't want the new folder to get cluttered with unnecessary topics. 1. "Newsbits Only Thread" - This thread would essentially function in the place of the minor newsbits that would show up in General Discussion. The thread would be used for minor news only... no discussion. If the item warrants more discussion, a separate thread could be opened. 2. "New School Questions Thread" - Think of this as the alter ego of the massively popular Old School Questions Thread in General Wrestling. Posters who no longer stay current on the wrestling scene could pop in with questions and get things clarified. Would also help cut down on the bumping of old threads.

I have both as well, but tend to prefer Myspace for my everyday needs. I graduated college about 5 years ago and so most of the people in my age group missed out on the Facebook craze. It's the easiest and tidiest to use, but the applications nonsense is tiresome. Myspace is a disaster as far as interface is concerned, but the majority of people I know have accounts. So if I need to get a hold of someone that's usually the best resource. Overall, at 26 I find little need for either of them in my life.

Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08

Steroid use can cause the hair to thin out. HHH appeared to be heavily juicing at the time of the Michaels match. It's not out of the question that his hair would gain some of its body back now that he is supposedly off the heavy stuff. -
Wait to take the initiative Dandy.

In the future, please provide a link to the artice instead of c/p someone else's content.

Please use the newest thread for DVD discussion.

Gerald Green is what we like to call basketball retarded. He doesn't know where to stand on the floor, he can't play consistent D, he stares out the video board when he should be going for the ball. Going to college wouldn't help that one bit. Maybe some college coach would have been able to reach him, but 5 assitants working double time in Boston couldn't. Had he gone to college, his athleticism and pure talent would have separated him and made him look more attractive to NBA scouts. It would not have solved his apathy or basketball IQ. I read an article somewhere that stated that one scout remarked that he wouldn't have taken Green in the first or second round after his pre-draft workouts. That says something about his mental make-up.

The Cardinals certainly have the hitting to compete and the pitching is not as awful as some might think. I've got them sitting around 4th or 5th in that division, but things could swing their way. In the middle of the order they have Pujols, Ankiel, Glaus and Duncan. Those guys could easily contribute 30 homers each. The rest of the order is filled with marginal hitters with bad OBP, but as long as the middle of the order is hot it's enough. Granted, Pujols and Glaus have to stay healthy and the others have to keep mashing. The pitching is questionable, but in the right scenario Carpenter and Clement make mid-season comebacks, Wainwright keeps up his good act and Reyes taps into his vast potential. This is considerably less likely than the hitting being good, but never underestimate this team's knack for getting good pitching performances out of marginal talent. Perfect world and all that, but they could compete. They certainly aren't out of the picture on Opening Day.

Questions from a Wrestling Fan 10 Years Ago
Cheech Tremendous replied to Diamonddust's topic in General Wrestling
Yes, the RoH PPV thing is something I find funny even if it is stretching the truth. -
One year of ballroom dancing and Western Civ is hardly anything to fall back on. Several million dollars in the bank is. If you are good enough to play in the NBA, you should be in the NBA, age be damned. Players have a much better chance to mature and develop their game with NBA coaches, constant practice and an 82 game schedule. Practing 30 hours a week against 6'2" white guys who are going to be YMCA regulars in a year is not the way to develop and mature as a player.

Questions from a Wrestling Fan 10 Years Ago
Cheech Tremendous replied to Diamonddust's topic in General Wrestling
Ha... this could be a lot of fun... I'll write back to 1998 Diamonddust So tell me, what's going on in my favorite sport of pro-wrestling? Let's see, according to the date on this letter, you are getting ready for Wrestlemania XIV. This event would kick off the era of Stone Cold Steve Austin, who would lead the WWF to unprecedented heights. They got so big in fact that they swallowed up all of their competition (WCW and ECW are dead). Subsequently, they got complacent, Vince put his daughter and husband (Triple H... yeah, really) in charge and the whole thing is now a mess. Oh and they lost a pissing match with the World Wildlife Fund and are now called WWE. Yeah, they went with that stupid name. Did Copeland (Edge) live up to the hype? In many ways yes. He sputtered around the mid-card for a few years before deciding to fuck his best friend's girlfriend behind his back. This turned into real life heat and the WWE pushed him to the moon. He's a 4-time world champ and is headling Mania this weekend in front of 70,000 fans. Did Austin retire because of the neck? Sort of. He went on a two-year run as the biggest draw in wrestling history before succumbing to his neck injuries. He made a brief comeback as a heel in 2001 but later called it a career. Did Owen ever clean pin Shawn? Here's the thing about Owen. In about a year, the fed will decide that it's a good idea to revive the Blue Blazer gimmick and have him propel from the ceiling. Unfortunately, the chord will break and he'll plummet to his death in front of a live audience. Down in Turner Land, what ever came of the "Disappearing Flair" situation that was beginning to brew? Flair came back. And then he stuck around for another ten years. Did Chris get the belt he deserved? Well Chris finally made it to WWE and won the world title in 2004. Then he went crazy and killed himself and his family. This will be an embarrassing moment for wrestling, but not as bad as 2003 when Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash were main eventing. When did their fossils retire? Most of them stuck around. Some pop up in WWE for nostalgia and others compete in this glorified indy called TNA (which tries to be WCW, with all of the problems and none of the history or occassional successes) Did Birmingham ever land a PPV? Hell if I know. What ever came of ECW? Did Paul's brainchild continue to gain popularity? Is it still around? Paul thought it would easier to run a indy promotion if he didn't pay his workers. That worked for about six months before the whole thing blew up and the promotion closed. Paul went to work for Vince, but that never really worked because he couldn't get along with anyone and his stuff only played to a niche audience. WWE resurrected ECW a couple of years ago. It's a sad, neutered version of the original that runs on Sci-Fi. Its workers are treated like third class citizens. Did I ever go to the arena? Probably not. That shithole stopped being important shortly after you wrote this letter. Is Terry (Funk) still wrestling? Maybe. Shows up now and again. Who's main eventing right now? Shawn Michaels, the Undertaker, HHH (yes, this is 2008), Edge, John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton Is it (ECW) still big? Did a rising indy become the next ECW? ECW is dead. The indy scene is dead. There's this fed a lot internet nerds like called ROH, but their last PPV generated 19 buys. -
Alright, seriously, no more Benoit debate or reference to the Benoit stuff in this thread. Next poster to mention it gets a play date with Leena. If you want to start a thread about it elsewhere (hint: DDCS), be my guest.

I'm just trying to hold a black man down. Honestly, I am sorry for that. In the future I won't be editing posts. Feel free to bag on Marvin and myself all you want in the Chocolate Socket.

Correct. Next...

Sorry Dandy.

He was holding the picture up to address the media. Matsui held a press conference to announce he was getting married, but stated that his wife is shy and that he doesn't want to expose her to the media. The picture was his rendering of what she looks like.
-
Last poster was Smues. Here's a new one.
-
Who changed the title of the thread? I don't want the heat when this project inevitably goes up in flames.
-
What about TheDon/NYankees? Wasn't he just Anglesault v. 2.0?
-
Wonder what he's going to do with that epic porn stash.
-
Stay on topic folks. This is not the appropriate place to argue about Benoit.
-
Excuse me mod, your button doesn't work. I hit it and it didn't repot anything.
-
I've got the cattle prod ready if they keep this shit up.

The team fell apart last year and didn't lose 100 games..theres more talent on the team now and a better bullpen that was absolutely horrendous. Theres no way they'll lose 100 games and they'll finish in 4th place again. Hardly irrational thinking or being a deluded homer. Bedard and Tejada are gone. Chris Ray is still hurt. Brian Robers is front and center on the trading block. What talent?
