You know, even though this is Jeff's second official violation, you have to factor in that he already flamed out of the promotion once because of his excessive drug abuse. Hell, even TNA washed their hands of him. You can't simply suspend him for 60 days and then bring him back like nothing happened. He needs full treatment and an extended period of clean living thereafter. If he won't do that, fire him. It's pointless to spend any more time and energy on him in his current state.

Those of you who are suggesting that someone else would have been better in the role against Mayweather (MVP, Burke, Angle) are missing the whole point of this angle. The match is being sold on the spectacle of a 7' 450 pound man against the world's best boxer. They are selling the sideshow appeal of the encounter, not the wrestlers themselves. Big Show is the perfect wrestler for this role.

Did we really need this news item posted TWICE ON THE SAME PAGE? Please take a minute or two to look over the forum before posting old news items.

Is there anybody you like besides Louisville? I swear every post you have in here says that so and so team is a second round upset because they aren't that good (Georgetown, Tennessee, Pac-10 teams, etc.).

But I don't think this Burke dude even has an amateur background. He has an unsubstantiated record fighting in some clubs in south Florida. There's no evidence whatsoever that he had any skill as a boxer. Weight advantage aside, Mayweather would eat him for lunch. You sound like a mark.

I swear Bored is staring at my cheat sheet.

I feel bad for the Baseball Cube. Isn't that site comprised of just one dude who sits there and manually inputs old minor league statistics?
-
You do realize that Mayweather is, pound for pound, the best boxer in the world, and Burke is a pro wrestler, right?

Interview with Ken Tremendous/Mose Schrute/Michael Schur... whatever you want to call him Interesting interview with Ken Tremendous from Firejoemorgan.com. Ken reflects on the popularity of the blog, stats versus scouts, what writers really think of him and the evoluation of Mose Schrute. Fun stuff.

I've always been under the impression that smart fans cared about that kind of stuff way more than the wrestlers do. Titles, pushes, etc. don't really mean all that much unless it leads to them getting more money. Yeah, it's a passion for some, but many of the guys just accept it as business.

Theo Epstein says false on Angel Pagan rumors. Thank god.

So would I. I'm still of the opinion that Ellsbury is being overvalued relative to Coco Crisp. Ellsbury is not in the same class defensively and his offensive upside is probably less than what Crisp was in 2004-05 (although that hitter might never come back).
-
I was thinking something more along the lines of Crisp for Heilman, if they want to go that route. I guess WFAN is now saying that it's a rumor, and not the done deal they indicated earlier. I also can't see the logic in turning down Matt Murton, then going out and getting Pagan later in the week. Pagan sucks.
-
WFAN is reporting a Coco Crisp for Angel Pagan trade. I can't see this being true. Let me rephrase... please don't let this be true.

Chris Jericho/Steve Austin had quite a few matches with generally poor (or dull) results.

Marvin's not doing himself any favors by saying that Elijah Burke would make Floyd Mayweather look bad in a boxing ring. There's dumb and then there is DUMB.
-
Works for me too.
-
I thought about it, but I didn't want to give Dandy the satisfaction.
-
Are you actually suggesting that Burke could even hang for one second with Mayweather in a boxing ring? I don't know if that's what you are saying or I just read it wrong, but that would be one of your most idiotic statements yet.

There are a couple of replacement options out there. Kyle Lohse, David Wells and Jeff Weaver are still available as free agents, and both Chis Capuano and Jason Marquis are on the trading block. Yeah, none of those guys strike fear in the hearts of men, but they could hold down a 5th starter slot until better options become available.

Actually, I too distinctly remember rumors of Guerrero/Jindrak and Benoit/Hirohito (Kenzo Suzuki) co-headlining Summerslam 2004. In fact, I think it came directly from the Observer. I don't know if it was really the "plan" or an idea that was greatly exaggerated, but it was definitely on the burner that year in some capacity. I'm sure whatever plans they had were out the window by mid-2004 though.
