Round Three, TSM Worst Poster Tournament
Cheech Tremendous replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in No Holds Barred
My long national nightmare is over! Mecca truthiness - He is the most awful thing to hit the WWE folder in a long time. I cringe at most of his posts Chazz edgehead69 - If he was like 13, he'd be a decent poster MVP - This is tough. I want jericholic82 gone so that I never have to hear about fucking Circuit City and its WWE dvds again, but alas, MVP is the worst thing about this board. I can't in good conscience let him through jericholic82 dustinbeaverton - Did you hear that Hogan wants to wrestle Flair? Let's make a thread! Vanhalen Enigma - Annoying in WWE trumps annoying in sports majormayhem1 EHME/Simon Brigante Kawalimus - Kawalimus has crossed the plateau from amusing because they suck to annoying because they're awful. Thanks for the memories though. Marvinisalunatic - I almost went for flairfan until Marvin posted that video. Flairfan MOD BRACKET/FINALS! Cena's Healed Pec Mole -
Let's Find Some New Classic Threads

YES This one still cracks me up to this day. -
Oh, The Book was just awful. They would pose a question like "Should the pitcher bat eighth" and then present 20 pages of regression analysis and tables and end with "batting the pitcher eight can lead to .5 extra wins per season" or some other non-sense. Even though I could understand the math (and I don't think most people would) I still couldn't figure out what they were trying to accomplish half the time.

Let's Talk About..........The Natural Born Thrillers
Cheech Tremendous replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
I want to contribute to this thread but I can't for the life of me remember anything about this group other than who was in it. I remember Mike Sanders was decent on the mic and Palumbo/O'Haire/Jindrak looked the part of future superstars, but that's about it. On one hand, WCW needed to push guys like this earlier, but on the other, they were are greener than grass. They seemed bush league. I do know that if Eric Bischoff has purchased WCW it was his plan to give Sean O'Haire the God push and eventually lock him up with Goldberg. Don't know if that would have worked out or not. -
Since I mentioned Moneyball, here are the two others that make up the baseball fan's starter kit: The New Historical Baseball Abstract by Bill James I don't think I can adequately do this one justice in a short description. Essentially James sums up the highs and lows of 130 years of baseball history and does it in a way that's both insightful and fun. Included is a discussion of the 100 greatest players at every position on the diamond. You can literally pick up this book any time, flip to a page and find something interesting. James is perhaps the most interesting baseball writer out there. Baseball Between the Numbers by the Baseball Prospectus team of writers On the flip side, this is one that's not written particularly well but is a must read for anyone who's remotely interested in the modern game of baseball. Remember how I said that Moneyball is like an introduction to sabermetrics? Well then this book is a like your Algebra I textbook. Yeah, it can be a little dry at times, but the chapters are short and the information provided is invaluable.

I'll get the ball rolling... Moneyball by Michael Lewis Yes, everyone has read it (except Joe Morgan) and discussed it (mostly with poor results), but at its core it is still an excellent read full of all kinds of cool behind the scenes stuff. It hasn't aged particulary well, and some of the biggest targets (Kenny Williams, Jeremy Bonderman and Prince Fielder, namely) ended up having the last laugh, but the commentary is still biting and the overarching point still valid. Consider this pre-coursework for aspiring Sabermetric fans as well.

Let's Talk About..........The Natural Born Thrillers
Cheech Tremendous replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
Just for clarification's sake the group consisted of Sean O'Haire, Chuck Palumbo, Mike Sanders, Shawn Stasiak, Reno, Mark Jindrak and Johnny the Bull right? I know that all were former Power Plant guys and most of them were picked up by WWF after the merger. Any other background info we need? -
Let's Find Some New Classic Threads

So far, I'm hearing some support for these guys... Who is "Kawalimus Kid"? Chris Masters & JN News have passed away... I'm guessing the Benoit thread should be move there for posterity's sake, even if it's filled with 75% crap posts. What are the board's feelings on threads that explode in everyone's faces (NYankees taking a slow train to Ban City with his "Baby Licenses" or whatever the hell happened in "I Banned Choken One" or this year's Best Poster tournament). -
AWA Wrestling back on the air
Cheech Tremendous replied to garfieldsnose's topic in General Wrestling
Heaven needed a jobber to the stars. According to wikipedia, his finisher (he had a finisher?) was called the Canadian Shocker. Heh. -
The board's also in an ugly warp. What the hell happened?

Mexico City would probably be the first event to draw 100,000 people and have a live gate less than $1 million.
-
Who was the last QB to go from Atlanta to Green Bay? I'm drawing a blank.
-
I agree with this move, but what happens overnight? If the guy in front of me makes a pick at 10PM and I come back in the morning to find I've been skipped by 5 guys, I'm going to be pissed.

Round Two, TSM Worst Poster Tournament
Cheech Tremendous replied to EVIL~! alkeiper's topic in No Holds Barred
That's hilarious. Every single one of the topics he's created has been a question of some sort. Honestly, he's not that bad as a poster, but reading that list of topics created had me in stitches. -
It's not necessarily the player, but the contract. Walker is overmatched as a no.1 receiver and he's getting $16 million guaranteed. By comparison, that's more than Randy Moss got. The Raiders are just throwing money at marginal players with no plan to speak of.
-
My guess would be that they were undersized and sort of "indy" for what the WWF was doing at the time. That's just conjecture, though.
-
I've caught this show a few times and it generally ranges from "meh" to "very funny" depending on the locale and the people he interacts with. There are a few episodes, however, where you can tell the guy is hammered. Those are the best.

I vowed to stay out of this last round (in an attempt to stay above the fray and drop this new grouch label), but this stuff is too much fun. canadiandestroyer213 Mecca - Mecca's bad, but not as bad as Enigma dx1997 truthiness - In the words of King Kamala, Bruiser_Brody Chazz - I don't know much about this Chazz fellow, but I've got nothing against Brody Superjerk edgehead69 - Hopefully the next Exodus starts with edgehead leaving the board MVP - Don't know how I could vote for him after he broke the story that Hogan won't be wrestling Austin this year Matt Young KingPK jericholic82 - jericholic82 straddles the line between loser and lovable loser. Unfortunately for him, Circuit City is located on the wrong side of that line dustinbeaverton Razateca - Which ironically disproves dustinbeaverton's notion that not posting makes you better Bix - I don't really remember much about him other than he posted a lot in the Benoit thread. But I also don't remember much about the Nazis other than the whole Holocaust thing Vanhalen Battlenuts Enigma - Enigma's bad, but not as bad as Mecca pbone majormayhem1 - He kept me out of the NFL threads for weeks EHME/Simon Brigante - EHME has gotten a lot better lately, but this is for calling me Screech C-Bacon Kawalimus - Don't have time to write anything here, I'm too busy watching The Kawali Kid with my garbageman friend TaigaStar UsethesledgehammerUh - Marvin may get a little annoying but UTSU was an outright prick Marvinisalunatic Cheech Tremendous flairfan - Don't know much about the guy, but the novelty of me being in this competition is wearing off Cena's Healed Pec - Coin flip. But CHP is really the original grouch Illustrious One Downhome - Coin flip. I have no beef with either guy Mole -

This is some great company I get to be in. -
You know how in the other thread we were listing the worst moment as a fan for our favorite teams? I wanted to do something for the Raiders but I would have to just keep updating it every day and I don't have that kind of time.

No internet play, roster updates and the Minor League part (90+ real minor league teams and most stadiums) is out as well and from what I read, its not as deep simulation wise since its meant to be an arcade/sim hybrid for the dreaded "Casual gamer" Well, I am a casual gamer so that sounds fine to me.
