I like this deal. The Nuggets shoot down a Ron Artest deal because they don't want to give up Kleiza, but they are willing to do so for Randolph and his ridiculous contract? I call bullshit.

Help me to decide upon a band name

I like the suggestion of Fucking Limey Faggots. That was a suggestion, right? -
But that's not really a possibility for them, is it? The entire core of the team is old, mediocre and aging quickly. They have completely exhausted their farm system at every level to add a few decent talents to a shaky foundation. I just don't see where they are going to get the horses to compete in a few years when they only players around worth a damn will be Swisher, Fields, Quentin, Vazquez and Buehrle. Maybe it's just me, but if they were my team I'd rather they have an eye towards the future, especially when we just won a world title with vets and can afford to take a few years off without damaging the fanbase.

So it's better to go for .500 or worse in the mid to long term instead of punting a year or two with an eye towards getting back into a championship mix? That's the kind of thinking that keeps many franchises swirling in continual mediocrity.
-
They weren't going to be competitive anyways. At least they went out and got some real talent to rebuild the franchise with instead of doing some half-hearted attempt at competing when they should be punting, a la the Chicago White Sox. Why? Our offense has the potential to be awesome. It's the pitching we have to worry about. The pitching and defense could be really bad. There is no help on the way from the minors, nor is there any talent in the organization to trade with should they need some in-season solutions. The White Sox would have to have impeccable health from all of their regulars and get career years from many of their players to have a shot. Right now they are probably a 70-80 win team with no shot in hell of catching the Indians or Tigers. The offense could be decent, but it's not a top 5 offense (and it's not at the level of Cleveland or Detroit in their own division). There could be some serious on base problems and many of their talents are trending down (Thome, Konerko, Dye, Cabrera) and not up (Swisher, Quentin). It doesn't look like a solid winning formula to me.

New England would make the most sense. He said that unless he can catch on with a Super Bowl contender he'll retire and the Patriots have the need.

Let's Talk About....WrestleMania IV

One reason: Hogan v. Savage -
I legitimately feel that the Spurs, Suns, Mavs, Lakers, Rockets, Jazz and Nuggets have a legit chance at winning the West this year. Hell, I might even throw the Hornets in there, too. Obviously some of those teams have a better chance than others, but this is the first time I can remember one conference being so wide open... and so deep. The playoffs this year are going to be a treat.

Does anyone remember this? I certainly don't.

I don't really feel the need to hear from any athlete, let alone a platoon running back from a team that was relevant 40 years ago.

I added Tremendous to the end of mine. I don't know if that counts as a change. -

It was a 14-man tournament. Anyways, it's all a matter of tase. I love the tourney at the 1998 Survivor Series and despise the one at WMIV, despite being an old-school mark. Go figure. -
Dumbest Comment of the Day at TSM

You fucking idiot. My assertation that Kidd wasn't much better than Harris wasn't a one off statement, it was part of about six posts I had regarding that trade. I basically took the position that he wasn't so much better than Harris that you'd give up two starters, your bench, two first round draft picks and take on a $40 million contract. It's called context. -

Let me just reiterate that I didn't say it was a better idea to have Dibiase win the belt, but it seemed like the logical move based on what they were building up. Hell, I would have cut the thing back to 3 hours, ditched the tournament and done Bam Bam v. Andre, Savage v. HTM and Hogan v. Dibiase as my top three matches. I think it's hard to gain perspective on how a guy was positioned if you weren't actively watching during that era. The house show circuit is where guys were built up and the tv shows existed to merely push the house shows. Dibiase was put over other top babyfaces in big WWF strongholds and positioned as Hogan's nemesis on television. That was enough to place him in a main event position. -
I posted this in the Chocolate Socket as well, but here is some more insight on the Kidd-Harris swap and the potential impact:

From Cheech Faggot. Yeah, real dumb, except for the fact that you apparently don't know shit about basketball (Dalember the All-Star?). Most people are skewering this trade. Let's grab some quotes: -

Dibiase spent his first few months in the company beating most of the company's other top babyfaces, including Steamboat, Roberts, Bigelow and Duggan. He was also put over in multiple battle royals on the house show circuit. He even had a few victories over Hogan (via DQ). From the moment he entered the company he was being groomed for the title. Everything he did in the first year of the run was to build him up big time. What else were they supposed to do build up credibility? -
I think it might be the opposite. There is probably more talent buried on NBA benches and in the D-League than there is in Europe. I'm sure between our talent pool and what exists over there you could cobble together the 60 players needed to fill 5 new NBA teams. I'm not sure why Czech feels that the NBA talent pool is so thin. If anything, the pool of players gets restricted each year because of guaranteed contracts. Also, what a random group of teams to select for contraction. Those teams might be uninspiring, but they hardly have enough financial problems that they'd need to be axed. If anything, just moving NO to Oklahoma City or St. Louis would solve most of the problem.

I think Halloween Havoc '98 cut out during the Goldberg-DDP match. That's why they replayed the match on Nitro for free.

Seriously, are you fucking retarded? Jason Kidd is nearly averaging a triple fucking double this year, and is arguably the best PG in the game right now. It's an insult to even question if he's that much better then Devin fucking Harris. Kidd is also an abysmal shooter who has become increasingly turnover prone. He's been a great player for years, but his near triple double numbers this season are covering up a lot of his declining abilities. I know he's better than Harris, but is he that much better that you also give up several bench players and two first round draft picks? It seems like they are making a move just to say they made a move.
