The Oakland A's to Fremont deal is officially dead. So what's next? Is Bored our only A's fan here? I know that San Jose and Sacramento are frequently discussed as alternatives, but I don't see either one being viable, especially right now.

    TSM Suggestion Box

Mods, if this is something you aren't interested in, feel free to get rid of it. Technically, this entire folder is designed specifically for feedback, but I thought it would be a good idea to have one thread dedicated to comments and suggestions that the mods checked regularly. Quite often I run across a thread that needs to be split, or subtitles need to be updated or whatever else. Tracking down a mod for, I don't know, music, can be a little difficult. A place where I can throw requests would be nice and if they aren't done, at least know why. I also have tons of shitty ideas that I think would improve the board and having a singular place to bounce them off my peers would be appreciated.

    NCAA Tournament

I remember Dominguez was a local star while in high school, grabbing the front page of the sports section multiple times a week. He wasn't recruited by any major school, as far as I can remember, due to his height. I don't know, he looks really good right now.

    The NFL OT Rule

I'm in favor of all of that, except the part about leaving the stupid overtime rule intact.

I have a copy of Psychotic Reactions sitting around somewhere. I bought it a couple of years ago and never got passed the intro. I need to go back and read it.

    NCAA Tournament

Me too, Bored. Me too. Even if I get the next 29 right, I still think I'll end up with a worst first round than I have had in the last couple of years.

Nice play there, Butler. Throwing to the wrong team with 5 seconds left isn't the best way to go.

Memphis is entering potentially fucked territory.

    Yahoo NCAA Tourney Pick 'em

I forgot to add UNC on my first go-round, but 'Zaga was definitely mentioned. The whole point of my post was that log5 was overrating Memphis and to a lesser extent, Gonzaga, because they beat up on their crappy conferences.

    The NFL OT Rule

I'm a little late to the OT party here, but my idea closely resemble Czech's and that from WCS. Start with a kickoff, but if the receiving team scores the other team gets a matching possession. After that first possession, sudden death rules apply. I don't like that 54% of OT games end on the opening drive. That hardly seems fair.

What sort of model are you using? I was looking over the log5 probabilities at basketballprospectus.com and their outputs keep saying Memphis is the overwhelming favorite, with Lousiville, UNC and Pitt lagging behind. They also seem to really like Gonzaga, but openly admit that there is a flaw in their model that overrates teams from bad conferences.

    The Oakland A's of Fremont/San Jose/Sacramento/Portland

I'll probably end up repeating some of the stuff mentioned upthread, but for as good as Beane is as a GM, the rest of the organization is a mess. The team is probably in the bottom five of the league in terms of ownership commitment, promotions, medical staff, facilities and all the other stuff that goes into running a first-class organization.

    The Oakland A's of Fremont/San Jose/Sacramento/Portland

This flew slightly under the radar in the last week. Apparently Lew Wolff has ruled out staying in Oakland long term. The following excerpt is from the Unfiltered section at Baseball Prospectus' website:

    Yahoo NCAA Tourney Pick 'em

No real surprises in my bracket. I think that we'll see relatively few first round upsets, but all sorts of chaos as we get a little further down the line. The gap between the top seeds and the guys in the middle isn't that big. My prediction: someone comes out of nowhere to win the title like Florida a few years back. Do I know who that is? Absolutely not.

The Savage / WWE bad blood

14 is the age I always see. Which would have been 90-91, which makes absolutely no sense timing wise unless Vince found out about it years later. I've never fully bought into the Stephanie story, but if it were to be true, I assumed that the story probably came out when she started working for the company in 2000. Or, if you want to take the conspiracy a little further, perhaps Vince always knew but HHH only found in recent years and Vince and company now feign outrage over respect for their marriage. It's not exactly concrete, but the time lines can work if you think about it a little.

    Let's predict 2009's won-lost records.

Amazon sells it for $13. This is the first year that I didn't purcahse BP. Fangraphs offers a better and more comprehensive package for free. BP's commentary is still the best, but I can get that with my site subscription (which is absolutely necessary for anyone serious about fantasy baseball, by the way). An index is available for free on their website, Czech.

    This week in the NBA

It's trolling because you are making statements to incite negative reactions from other posters. It's one thing to state your case for the Lakers being potentially overrated, but to go one step further and actually propose that the best team in the NBA won't even win a playoff game is sheer lunacy. A number one seed has never gone to the playoffs and gone winless in the entire history of the NBA. You know exactly what you're doing, and I suggest that you knock it off.

    Spring Training 2009

-Josh Bard was cut by the Red Sox today, which somehow makes his second stint with the team even shorter than the first. Poor guy just can't catch a break with them. This would seem to indicate that George Kottaras will be the back-up. Don't know how I feel about that. -It doesn't look like Andruw Jones is going to make the Rangers. -Tom Gorzelanny is heading back to AAA.

    The Old School questions thread

There may have been other things in play, but the primary reason Austin didn't want to work with Jarrett was because of Jarrett's return promo that bashed Austin 3:16, as was mentioned upthread.
