    Smackdown to leave the CW

The most likely candidate I would think would be CW's rival, MyNetworkTV. Unless there's an unknown contract provision somewhere for this scenario, I don't believe that Smackdown is limited to NBC Universal outlets. I would assume that TNA would be moved if Smackdown ends up on Thursdays. Spike isn't stupid.

TNA in talk with Bob Knight

I swear to God that this is dumb beyond words. TNA is obviously just making a lame attempt to attach itself to a major sports story. The chance of Knight actually working for TNA is absolute zero.

    Bobby Lashley released

I doubt WWE would object if Lashley wants to work for one of those smaller groups on HDNet or another low visibility outlet. UFC seems to be the only MMA company that unnerves McMahon.

    Bobby Lashley released

There are successful blacks in WWE. They seem way tilted towards the heel side though. Aside from Kofi Kingston, I can't think of any active black face wrestlers in the company.

    Bobby Lashley released

Article was from PWInsider.com, by the way. Is there anyone on his forum who knows what the heck he is babbling about?

    ECW on Sci-Fi HD -- January 22, 2008

Since when has WWE booking ever feared hurting the prestige of the ECW title or its champion? In the greater WWE hierarchy, ECW's belt is upper midlevel at best.

    College Hoops: January '08

That's just hilarious. Especially when you consider that the Fat F*ck that coaches the Billikens (Majerus) has supposedly gone on record to say that he is not a fan of the A-10. Especially its TV contract. I don't blame Majerus on that one point. The TV contract is a piece of crap. CSTV is the lead national carrier for the A-10, only the tourney final is on an ESPN channel. CSTV was further given the power to block localized telecasts of games on cable systems that don't carry CSTV. Most games last season ended up as webcast only. The television restrictions have only loosened up slightly this season.

In an A-10 matchup that wasn't exactly Rhode Island vs. Dayton, Saint Louis fell to George Washington, 49-20. The Billikens' 20 point "effort" was the lowest since the institution of the shot clock. The halftime score was 25-7. No, I didn't look up a women's score by mistake. AP

Lakota Indians secede from the United States

I expect this story to fade into irrelevancy. These Lakota who declared independence are activist types, not the mainstream Lakota leadership as such. The Lakota Sioux as a whole will likely not support such foolishness.

    Predictions for 2008

The Congressional hearings will direct harsh rhetoric at the wrestling industry with no substantive change. Media attention will focus instead on steroids/HGH in mainstream and Olympic sports. The CW network will fold but Friday Night Smackdown will be picked up by NBC for the fall. The brand extension as we know it now will still exist in name only. The Smackdown/ECW talent sharing agreement will be extended to Raw, allowing tribrand crossovers on all shows. ECW television will be quietly cancelled at the end of 2008. After the failure of American Gladiators (2.0), Hulk Hogan will rejoin WWE on Vince McMahon's terms. Ric Flair will be retired as a wrestler by Reid Flair. Ric Flair will become on-air GM of Raw. JBL's wrestling comeback will be shortlived, he'll take Jerry Lawler's place as Raw color commentator. Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, Ashley, The Great Khali, D.H. Smith, Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy will be released among others. Shawn Michaels and Kane will retire. Triple H will become less active as a wrestler. Preliminary plans will be drawn up for a new two brand structure, one brand based on the U.S. east coast that would promote extensively in Europe, Africa & the Middle East, the other brand based on the U.S. west coast that would tour extensively in east Asia, Australia and Latin America. The Dudley Boyz (under that name) and LAX (under a different one) will join WWE. Low Ki will appear in WWE and disappear just as fast. Kelly Kelly will pose for Playboy and win the Women's title, in that order. Matt Hardy will beat MVP for the U.S. title but lose the belt to new heel Smackdown wrestler Chris Jericho. A new multibrand championship will be created in the fall. MVP will be the first such champion and be feuded against challenger John Cena. The current WWE & Intercontinental championships will be merged into a Raw-brand only title. The current World & United States championships will be merged into a Smackdown-brand only title. A new version of Tuesday Night Titans will be offered as a WWE.com exclusive, to be hosted by Michael Cole and Santino Marella. A WWE kids' cartoon show will be produced to air primarily outside the United States. Vince McMahon will give up day-to-day operational control of WWE, in favor of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. Vince will still keep authority for the most major decisions though in his own hands.

    Raw 12.3.07

At least The Godfather was over with the crowd. The Godfather wasn't over. The ho's were over. Don't agree actually. In that time and place of the attitude era, the Godfather character did seem over. His wrestling was horrid, of course.

NFL week twelve: Turkey Day Cliches

According to the reports here out of D.C., massive blood loss is the main concern. Nobody here is worried about whether he plays again. This is a true life-threatening situation. All prayers, please.

    Impact spoilers for 11/15

Angle Alliance = AA. An inside joke, perhaps?. Insensitivity issues aside, the racial stuff is just lazy booking. TNA should be able to feud heels against Booker without going there already.

    CBS in talks with UFC

This writer doesn't seem aware of the new UFC/Spike deal. The cable and broadcast sides are separate issues. It wouldn't surprise me if a CBS/UFC deal actually happened. CBS got a good ratings bump for its "60 Minutes" MMA story. Plus, the network has actively courted controversy in its recent scheduling (Kid Nation, Swingtown) to get away from its crime procedurals only image. The media writer protests might go off the charts but CBS and UFC working together would at least get attention for the network.

    WWE releases Chris Masters

No one forced him to do anything. He was the one that decided to take drugs and he's the only one to blame for his release. Masters was in an untenable situation. His only WWE marketability came from the physique which couldn't be maintained without violating WWE's drug policy. There's no good option there.
