    Is X a HOFer?

I expected no's for most, so your response doesn't shock me, Tom. I am, though, interested in Al's take on Stewart.

    Best MLB Postseason game

Game 5, ALCS (so far). Off-topic a bit, but all-time's got to be either Game 6 of the 1993 World Series (Blue Jays-Phillies) (naturally ) or, IIRC, Game 4 of the same series (the one that was won by Toronto 15-14). Treble might be able to confirm if I have the right Game #.

    Trainer says Bonds used steroids

I feel rather fishy about a "report" covering an "interview" recorded last year that just *now* got to the San Francisco Chronicle *this* year...

    Is X a HOFer?

Here's a few, Al. Apologies if I've written repeats accidentally: - Joe Carter - Cito Gaston (Manager) - Dave Stewart - Larry Walker - Felipe Alou (Manager) - Dave Van Horne (Broadcaster, Expos, since Treble mentioned Cheek for the Jays)

    So...Uh...

Well, if they're smart, they'll book the tag match just before the main event.

    NFL Instant Replay: Week 5

Very well-written, Tom. I missed the one sentence summaries of games you don't want to dedicate a paragraph to, but hey. Just wanted to mention one thing about Jamal Lewis that you probably won't find too surprising. Not sure if you caught NFL Countdown on Sunday, but Chris Mortenson seemed to indicate that Tagliabue might add to Jamal's punishment if he sees fit to. Can't remember if Mortenson elaborated a bit more, but that seemed to be the general idea. Can the commish actually do that? I didn't think any league figurehead can simply say, "Well, we'll suspend you for more games" or whatever. Of course, it's Mortenson, so it may be just a rumour. And my Bills will get win numero uno this week. Score will be something like 6-3.

    Smackdown SPOILERS Thread

At least he's ON TV. A guy who's easily in the Top 5 most over workers on Smackdown should not be just "ON TV".

Au revoir, Wrestling Polls and Lists

Good move, and I'm for the Old School folder going into General Wrestling, since you have the same topic posted in each folder sometimes (PWI 500 being a good example). I also think you should move Fantasy Booking into that folder as well. Heck, Tom, if you think Fantasy Pools is simply a part of Sports, than no reason to think otherwise when it comes to Wrestling. The hitcounts (of Wrestling and Sports) may be different, but it's not like Fantasy Booking is the most-read folder on the board. All the other wrestling folders should remain status quo for now.

OSSOTD for 10/7/04: Survivor Series 1989

I remember the time period, but I have a question for anyone who can remember these type of details... In the buildup for Rude's Brood vs. Roddy's Rowdies, did the WWF acknowledge, at all, the history between Piper and Snuka, and the irony of them being teammates?

    PWI 500

Mick Foley didn't win a single match. Which begs the question: Why is Al Snow on the list?

    Heat results

No Mercy is a Smackdown PPV. Benoit is on RAW. They give us plenty of reasons to complain about Benoit's treatment without artificially creating new reasons, don't you think? AndrewTS is right here. I believe Benoit wrestled Tomko on Heat a couple of weeks back.

    The Kane angle

    The Kane angle

What about a double turn involving Kane and Matt Hardy (assuming Gene is already a heel)? It's not like Matt was doing a heck of a lot with his current face run (in fact, the Mattitude gimmick has been so wasted in its two years of existence that to say he was even remotely over is stretching it). It's very possible that Matt's frustration rose to the point where he'd do anything to prevent his girlfriend's offspring from being anyone else's. Almost in a "If I can't have you, no one else will" tone. As far as Kane goes, as a fan, I'm having a hard time finding a reason to boo the guy, especially since the moment Lita was pregnant, and even more especially since Kane realized he WAS the father. To me, he looked like someone who rose from being a tragic character of sorts to a very happy fellow. In spite of the odd things like telling Lita that she's now his possession, he went out of his way to provide a classy wedding (as good as Kane can, of course), amongst other things. He didn't come off as Romeo, of course, but it's Kane. And last night, when the bad news hit him, he was upset in the worst way possible, but even more amazing: he didn't lay a hand on Lita at all in frustration. He stuck with her in a way. My guess: Matt Hardy hired Gene to do his dirty work. Shane's a possibility, but I also think Vince may have definitely learned his lesson about keeping his family (sans HHH) off regular television. Of course, this also depends on how long Matt's supposed to be out for.

    Eddie's DVD

I always found the one where they play golf with those guys pretty funny, but that could be just me. I didn't catch the UPN special when it first aired but if it's as great as Martyewr says then it's a must-buy, so I'm pre-ordering it right now. My only complaints are the SSeries three-way tag match (which Eddie himself admitted wasn't as great as they hoped) and the ECW 2/3 falls match, which I already own in the Path of Destruction DVD. The NWO2004 match I can understand since it's his first WWE Title win, even if I already have the NWO2004 DVD also. You know, now that you mention it, I completely forgot the main program *is* the UPN special, which I had never seen before. Thank you kindly for the reminder.

    Eddie's DVD

I picked up at MusicWorld last night (hint-hint for all the Canadians here). What an incredible main program, even if it's only 45 minutes long. I didn't think the WWE would be able to describe Eddie's struggles so accurately, but damn, they did. Of course, Eddie probably got to oversee everything, so it's no wonder a good final product turned out. It gets really emotional around the "Rock Bottom" chapter. In fact, it's probably the best main program of any WWE DVD that isn't a Foley, Michaels or Flair DVD. (ie between 45 mins to 2 hrs long) As a warning, there isn't much about wrestling in the main program besides a chapter on Eddie-Lesnar and some quick blurbs about the rest of his career. The main program is as advertised: about Eddie's life. Some interesting Easter eggs too, including the rundown of the Malenko-Guerrero feud, the Smackdown Six feud, and Eddie-Lesnar feud. Also, they have all 5 of the Viva La Razza skits, which may or may not be to everyone's liking. I enjoyed them, though. Haven't watched the matches yet; will probably start that tonight. My only knock against the DVD is that they have the heart attack angle from this past May as an extra. Why Eddie wanted it included is something I'm not sure of, but I'm guessing he has his reasons. Very good DVD, though, highly recommended.

    Raw 9/6/04

Actually, Loss, she was doing a couple stand-up comedy shows a couple weeks ago in Montreal and Toronto. Her work on Raw lately is making me kick myself for missing those.

Looking to get a new computer

YnA, I wound up getting what looks like the same Dimension 4600 listed. Came to $1199 Cdn, plus I got a 3 1/2 Floppy with it, and a free printer. I'm very happy, even with the lack of a DVD burner (I don't burn CDs much, let alone DVDs, so no big deal). EDIT: Noticed a big difference, though: the one you have listed has 80 GB hard drive. Mine's double that. Interesting... Keep waiting to find one, though. I saw an ad for a Dimension 4600 that had the opposite: a DVD burner, but no CD burner, and the flat screen was the standard model as opposed to the standard 17-inch monitor. They like mixing it up every week. Mine came to me awfully quick as I ordered it. I've kept it at my parents' place for now as my brother's giving me free software~!, used his internet connection, and I haven't had any problems with spyware yet. Maybe it's just me, but I think any of Dell's criticisms are REALLY overhyped.

Lawrence Phillips pawns Big 8 Championship ring

I think he managed to blackball himself from the CFL as well... Yeah. When you manage to get yourself turfed from the 2003 Calgary Stampeders, a team that will stand as one of the most inept on the field and off in the history of the CFL, you know you've had it. Didn't he bail from the Montreal Alouettes as well? Like Teke said, karma's a bitch. Yeah, but Calgary... they had the GM's son play QB in front of Crandell, right? Yeah, just wanted a confirmation if he bombed TWICE, instead of once, in the CFL. And don't get me started on the nepotism thing. Here in Ottawa, the head coach's son is on the practice roster at QB. Speaking of which, don't get me started on last night's God-awful game, either.

Nah. Ever since Callaway started working MMA styles into his matches, the DVDVR guys stopped being hard on him.
