If you forked out extra money for the PPV (like a concert or fireworks), that usually contributes to a money loss for the month.

Max Power, the closest I can find is here: http://www.wrestlemedia.com/sh/pafiledb.php?action=viewall ...but I'm having difficulty downloading the file myself. I'll keep looking as best as I can. (I've been out of the loop for a while, long enough to see that EWEssentials has changed to something else now)

Hi Lightning Flik, Yeah, I chatted briefly with Adam about it, and he is searching for a new company, which, from the sounds of it, he'll get sooner than later. I think he and the Total Pro Basketball gang are working together in search of that company. In the meantime, he's got two other new projects going on. I felt bad for a second when I heard the news, because I'm planning on purchasing a new PC soon, which has delayed my purchase of TEW (yeah, believe it or not, I haven't bought the game). I was at least reassured that everything's still cool and that Adam - not the company asswhipes - will still get the coin if I still buy the game.

Hisaharu Tanabe has said it's pronounced "pu-ro-re-su".

HHH did it before during one of his World Heavyweight Championship reigns, if I remember correctly. Think he wrestled Maven. I remember when he wrestled fellow Kowalski graduate Perry Saturn on Heat too in 2000. Can't remember if he had the title though. Velocity don't look too bad with Chavo-Funaki and Bashams/FBI. I really liked Doug/Nova a couple of weeks ago, didn't catch Danny/Johnny last week however. I wonder if the tag match is a blowoff to feed (hopefully) the Bashams to Kidman/London, which should lead to some fun stuff as the Bashams (especially Doug) are growing on me lately.

Loss, weren't Austin's matches with Kane (after KOTR 98) and Rock (after SurSer 98) right up there as well, possibly higher than This Is Your Life and the other two you mentioned?
-
I've tried looking, but haven't found an early copies (sometimes I get lucky with Music World). The Canadian release date is still August 10th as far as I know.
-
Damn, Velocity looks like it sucks this week, compared to last week, which had RVD-Akio and Doug Basham-Nunzio.

Venis and A-Train have talent. I just spit my drink over my monitor. I know you were probably joking, but still, i shall be expecting you to buy me a new monitor! If I was joking, I would've put Test there! A-Train's fine for a big man. He may not have the look of Batista or Brock Lesnar, or the athleticism of Lesnar (although agility-wise he's still not too bad), but he's a fine worker for a hoss. Catch his match with Jericho a couple weeks ago? Then you'll notice A-Train did a great job continuing Jericho's storyline revolving around the ribs injured by Tyson Tomko the week before. He had some simple, but effective offense. Oddly, he looked bad when, after the offense he gave out, one strike from Jericho is enough to put him on the ropes for 10-15 seconds so Jericho can do his silly-looking running choke move. Besides that, Train had a good match. He's probably better off on Smackdown. He could've been used as a King Kong Bundy to Eddie Guerrero's Hulk Hogan, if Eddie still had the title that is.

I think, more often than not, the Rumble match at each year, for better or for worse, has people at least talking and that's a good enough reason to include it. You have your Rumbles that most people remember as being great, such as '92 Flair, '00 Rock, and '04 Benoit, but even deeper analysis on a Rumble such as '99 McMahon would be interesting. Hope that last one doesn't give you too much of a headache however.
-
Loss, it's great to see you writing again, as your analysis is some of the most well-thought stuff. Your point about Austin/HHH-Benoit/Jericho immediately made me remember how I forgot about Benoit not being the legal man at that point, amongst other things I had forgotten over time in the article. Question: Any reason why you didn't review the Royal Rumble match itself? I know a few people at the time considered it a good->great Rumble, and I actually expected you to chime in on the subject.

Coey's writing has been growing on me lately. I'm glad he spends the odd column writing on WWE shows that I have, because the analysis he gives makes me think more rather than criticize him in a negative matter. I like his writing style of giving analysis rather than too much play-by-play, because then when I watch, or re-watch a certain match like one of the HBK/HHH matches or Benoit/Angle or Rock/Hogan, it causes me to think about the consistency more, something I'll admit to missing a lot. That's not necessarily good or bad, but it gives another dimension of watching the matches. The lack of play-by-play isn't necessarily a bad thing, and in fact doesn't completely spoil a match for a reader wanting to watch a match that's covered by him for the first time. I don't know if I'd put Rock/Hogan ahead of Benoit/Angle. It's been a while since I've seen both matches actually, and I've never seen them back-to-back. I've only watched Benoit/Angle once actually, and I myself am probably the type who needs to watch it several times. The criticism from Coey as it relates to the storyline and psychology of the Benoit/Angle match isn't the first I've heard, and would definitely be something I'd pay more attention to, especially with the Benoit DVD coming soon, and being able to compare Benoit/Angle to one or all of Benoit's Japanese performances. Coey, for better or worse, causes a reader to think. That's much more than a lot of other recappers on the web.

Dames, it's the least I can do for you for providing awesome EWR commentary. So, thank you instead.

It's just a mistake. It's November to Remember '94. Yup, and was that not the match that Benoit broke Sabu's neck? Or am I thinking of something else?

Pretty well-written post. I disagree with some things, most notably Johnny Nitro (I would've given him a C since I find his lackey act hilarious and better than Chief Morley's). Richards would get a D since he's basically a jobber at best, albeit an entertaining one. As for the women: - Molly: A (Long title reign, plus her reactions to being bald are hilarious) - Trish: B (Always entertaining, but some of her acting moments in the Jericho storyline left lots to be desired) - Victoria: B (Has risen nicely, but isn't as over as Trish was during her babyface title reign and seems to be missing something) - Nidia: D (Fairly ineffective) - Stacy: D (Has done nothing since the Test storyline) - Jazz: D (Injured and a non-factor) - Ivory: F (Another non-factor) - Gail Kim: D (Is learning to wrestle safer, but is still risky to be in the ring with) That's all of them, right?
-
Wow! Now that's an accomplishment. Speaking of Goldberg, I'm in November 2004, and he's signed with NWATNA. Now that's somewhat interesting...
-
Austin's and Undertaker's are about the same as the DVD release dates in the States. Interesting. Nevertheless, I knew the Flair one was Jan. 27, so it BETTER be there!
-
I don't think the lists given are in any particular order, though. They wouldn't make any sense. I can't see Vince saying "That Goldberg, he's more marketable than anyone else on the Raw roster" or "Rock's only the 8th most marketable guy on Raw". Orton being more marketable than Jericho is an obvious conclusion that they've come to, however, but Bradshaw over Mysterio is something they may not necessarily be thinking.
