Believe me, I didn't draft John Franco for the sake of using him for his 2003 season.

Jackson had some pop in his bat, stole some bases, and had a rocket arm. His walk to K ratio was horrible. His slugging was average, and most importantly his carer OB was .309. I was too lazy to check his stats when I wrote that. Ah well.

Not disagreeing with you at all (especially with the comparisons of both teams, which I agree with you), but do you think the crowd heat would be the same as in Memphis if the match they did were in, say, Minnesota?

I'm still surprised I got both Henderson and Puckett as late as I did. (Henderson in the 3rd round, Puckett in the 8th). I mean, I know there's a chunkload of talent, but damn, those guys fell deeper than I would've imagined. Henderson could've easily been a first rounder, and Puckett falling to the 8th round amazes me. But, people have different priorities when drafting.

LT, I can't speak for the others, but I'm very interested to see how that turns out. I think many of us feel he was one of the most naturally gifted athletes ever, so how his playing career translates to the sim will be rather interesting. In fact, in a way, I hope it works out for you. Except when you play my team.

The CFL shreds and all but it's still not the NFL. Since you brought it up, we follow the NFL quite a bit up here. Office pools and all are quite big, and there's more than a few fans who have their own team to cheer for. The Grey Cup still gets a higher TV audience up here than the Super Bowl does, but with the NFL's growth over the years, so has its population north of the border. And yes, there's many Raider fans, Sass. BTW, and like the above paragraph, completely off-topic, but would anyone mind a weekly CFL column here? I realize I'm not a hired writer or anything, but I'm more than capable of it.

If anything, if Ruth's in the rotation, on the days he doesn't pitch and plays right field, he should at least have trouble hitting the cut-off man.

I'm still okay, even though Texas Tech killed off my Final Four representative from the Albuquerque region. Illinois and Arizona are fine, so I might have the Great 8 matchup correctly in the Chicago region. I have Utah going all the way to the Great 8 against Duke, so I'm happy they're still alive.

Against Oakland, right? I remember that, if I recall correctly, that was during Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. Back then, my family would eat Thanksgiving dinner on a Sunday, while watching playoff baseball on a black-and-white TV we still had kicking around. It was neat seeing black-and-white Alomar in celebration mode.

I believe that was also during the time when Alomar was being stalked by a crazed fan in Toronto. Very awkward time in Alomar's career, but hardly a time that represents his full career. There's other players who have done far worse than him. Sad to see him retire, as he was one of my favourite players when I was a young lad. However, I'm proud to have followed a great player like him and I'm even prouder that he helped lead my team to 2 World Championships.

The Bills are pretty in the upper-half of the league as far as average attendance go in the NFL. They're far from "useless". In fact, if Ralph Wilson Stadium hadn't gone under a series of renovations which reduced capacity by around 7,000 or so, they'd still have one of the higher stadium capacities of the NFL.

Move it back to the same distance as the international 3-point line. Heck, universities here in Canada (in the CIS) use that distance for a 3-point line. No reason why the NCAA can't.
