Hey, if he goes down, I bet Neifi can pitch a couple innings. He's a hand. Any word from Cubbie land when the Glass Armed Duo should be back? I'm hoping it's in time for the 'Stros series. I really wanna see that epic Wandy Rodriguez-Mark Prior pitching duel.

I thought you meant the ass itself, because Clemens had a fat ass. Fatness, goes beyond the stomach region. I refuse to engage in a discussion on the fatness/thickness of the ass of Roger "The Rocket" Clemens...at least until he returns the Houston Ass-tros.
-
And I have found it. It was in the NY times. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/23/sports/b...=rssnyt&emc=rss Clemens isn't fat. He's just...thick. Bobby Jenks is fat.

Even if it was true, it still wouldn't be as good as Runelys Hernandez hitting the DL due to a "lack of stamina." I think I heard that there was an article written somewhere....perhaps the Houston Chronicle that talked about how fatasses make better pitchers....something about Body Mass Index. They specifically mentioned Hernandez. I heard about it in passing from the announcers on the Astros game today. I shall see if I can procure it.

When are you gonna call up Pie? I hear he's good.

Hmmm...consulting my 2006 Houston Astros Schedule Mousepad, we play Cincy the 28th-30th, followed by 2 at Millwaukee May 1st and 2nd. May is pretty much all road games, though. Maybe the Cubs can get through this week without having to call up any minor leaguers due to injuries.

So, how do they rate in relation to other "wolf" related bands (IE: Wolf Parade, Patrick Wolf, Wolf Eyes, Guitar Wolf, etc.)?
-
Is he related to Saul Bellow? Seize the Dayis a great read. Wait...this isn't the book recommending thread. Nevermind.

'Stros win again. Ensberg homered in his 6th straight game, breaking the previous Astros record of 5 straight set by Carlos Beltran and some other people. He also leads the NL in average. 2nd year rookie Wandy Rodriguez is looking sharp. He's now 3-0 with a 2.5 ERA. Preston Wilson only struck out once tonite after striking out 11 times in 3 games with the Brewers. Phil Garner got ejected in the first after homeplate ump Rick Reed literally took his mask off and jogged to the pitcher's mound to tell off Wandy after he thought he was trying to show him up. Tomorrow nite, we've got another youngin' going, Taylor Buchholz. If he does as well as he looks like he will, we should have a Major League leading record of 12-5 after tomorrow. I'm trying not to get too excited after less than 20 games, but if the 'Stros keep up like they are and #22 makes his glorious return in June, I could see us winning the division. Get ready for the 2nd least watched World Series of all-time, baby~!

I agree. Although I think he's gone down in quality a bit over the last few albums (I think he was at his best when he was doing everything by himself), he's still a guy who, like Bruce Springsteen, can make you feel like you've just read a 200 page epic novel after listening to a 3 minute song. And the fact that he's put out about 400 CDs with about 50 songs each is a testament to his ability. On that note, I'd like to mention Bob Pollard from Guided by Voices, just for sheer quantity. He writes more songs before breakfast than most people write all day.

I go to the University of Houston. I'm gonna ask him if he saw that white chick spit in that other chick's hair on "Flavor of Love". That was off the chain....for reals, yo. You really should ask him what he thinks of Flav's second career as a reality TV show star. I wonder what he thinks of it, and what he'd say in response. I bet he's pissed because usually nowadays the only time anybody talks about Public Enemy is in conjunction with talking about the wacky things that Flava Flav is up to, and when they do talk about Public Enemy/Flava Flav, they pretty much act like it was Flav's group and everybody else was just there with him.

I can't read anything by Ted Hughes because the whiny emo girl in me loves Sylvia Plath too much to not think of him as an adulterous, chauvinistic prick. I second the Corman McCarthy recommendation. I had an English professor a couple of semesters ago that was really into McCarthy and we read "Pretty Horses". The language is stunning. It takes some adjusting, but it's well worth it. I haven't read the other two books in the trilogy, but I plan to...at some point.

He has a right to bitch. The state of today's hip hop is pretty shitty.

That's odd, because last week, similarly on a dare, I tattooed "Kinetic" on some chick's ballsack.

Yeah, Britt Daniel's good, but he's no Pastor Troy.

True. I used to love listening to Green Day when I was like...15 because they weren't all political and nihilistic like most of the other punk bands were. I wish they would just go back to singing about poop and girls and stuff. And what annoys me further is all these teenagers that listen to these semi-political songs and act like they've just watched a years worth of CNN or Fox News or whatnot and go around talking shit about the Bush and all. I mean, I don't care much for Bush as a president, but at least I have some idea as to why I dislike him other than what Billie Jo Armstrong or Fat Mike or whatever other yahoo told me.
-
Yeah...every band's political these days. There's too much politics in music. Isn't Neil Young Canadian, anyway?

I don't know if he's underated, but I definently agree that he's one of the greatest American songwriters period. My God, listening to his early records (E. Street Band-Born in the U.S.A.), it's like reading a Steinbeck novel in every song. The man could capture so much movement and life in a conservative space. Even his shorter songs sound like mini-epics. Nebraska is one of my personal favorite albums on a lyrical level. "Highway Patrolman", "Used Cars", "Atlantic City", "Reason to Believe". My God.

I wish there were more kids that imitated GWAR lyrics. In fact, I'd like to see a brawl between GWAR fans and ICP fans...and a bunch of Fall Out Boy fans.

That's why I can't do fantasy baseball. Such a conflict of interest. "YEAH! PUJOLS!" "...what" "Oh, he's on my fantasy team." By the way, Cubs and Dodgers are tied at 2. There must be a lot of Cub fans in LA, because the crowd noise is very confusing. Yeah. That happened with my brother the other nite when we were at the 'Stros-Brewers game. He has both Matt Wise and Jason Lane on his team, so he was doing a weird combination of cheering and going "Oh shit!" when Lane went deep on him.
-
Well, the 'Stros lost, but Capuano got me mad fantasy points, so I'm torn. Oh well, the Bucs come in over the weekend, so hopefully the 'Stros can make short work of em and build on their division lead before the schedule gets tough.
-
Dammit. Now it's 6-2 with a man on 3rd and no outs. I guess Turnbow might not be coming in. I'm glad that I also have Capuano on my fantasy team...
-
And just like that...5-2. Ensberg, also on my fantasy team, has hit 6 homeruns in the last five games. I don't know if the 'Stros are gonna pull this one out, though. However, we have made some furious comebacks. Even if they don't, I wasn't expecting them to go 157-5. I'll be happy with 156-6.
-
4-1 Brewers in Houston. Pettitte's outta the game. Both SP looked really good. Hopefully Houston doesn't give up anymore runs. Turnbow's on my fantasy team.
