Lance Berkman got ejected again a few minutes ago. He objected to a called third strike that was above his neck. However, he did not throw his ballbag at the umpire this time.

So, today, while I was making my rounds at various junk shops and thrift stores throughout the area, I happened upon this one junk shop. I went in not expecting to find much, but, walking through the store, I was drawn to the VHS section. While perusing the section, I noticed that the woman that owns the shop has a collection of at least 100 or so pro wrestling tapes from spanning from about 1988-2002, like...all in the original cases and all in good to very good condition. Now, if this was 3 or 4 years ago, I would've wet my pants and proceeded to carry every video up to the counter and bought them for myself, but, as I'm not that into wrestling anymore, I'm looking at this only as a money-making opportunity. Now, here's the pitch: Since this is a wrestling forum (mostly), I know that many of you might be interested in owning some of these tapes. Now, just to get an idea of what the selection is, today I bought five tapes, all in the original cases and all in good to very good condition. The tapes I bought are: WWF Slamathon 1996 which contains all of the matches from the 1996 IYH WWF WrestleFest 1994 which contains The Steiner Brothers vs. The Harts plus The Wrestlefest Rap preformed by Men on a Mission WWF Year in Review 1996 WWF Slammys 1996 which contains Billionaire Ted's Greatest Moments WCW Bonecrushers, which is from 1992 and proclaims to have such superstars as The RnR Express vs. The Andersons and the Midnight Express, The Road Warriors vs. Steve Williams, Kevin Sullivan, and Doom, The Fabulous Freebirds, The Samoan Swat Team,, and more! Those are just the ones that I bought today so I could check their value on eBay and other places. But, yeah, seriously, I saw videos from WCW, WWF, ECW, FMW...like...Pay-Per-Views, comp tapes, Coliseum Home Videos, bio tapes of Sting, Shawn Michaels, even King Kong Bundy. Just a whole lot of stuff. Now, I have no interest in actually owning these tapes, but is anybody interested in any of the tapes that I bought today or just tapes in general from that time period so I can go back and see what they have? If anybody's interested in owning like...a large portion of the tapes or all of the tapes, I'd be open to going and buying all of them and then selling them at a reasonable cost plus shipping. Yeah, so if anybody's interested, lemme know, yo. Word life.

The Cardinals signed Troy Percival.
-
Pfft. He shouldn't be suspended at all. It's not like he kicked Mark Wegner or anything. Yeah, he'll probably appeal it. I'm just glad it wasn't for more games; it looks like Berkman's starting to heat up a bit.

Hunter Pence has something like 19 multi-hit games since being called up this season. Lance Berkman has 2 homeruns in his last 3 at-bats (including a monster shot just a second ago). Willy Taveras hit his first homerun in 378 at-bats against Roy Oswalt. Josh Fogg has absolutely ridiculous sideburns.
-
Please. That's Ryan Freel's gig. Bah! Do you mean to tell me that Freel has a better commercial than ?

Or his career hawking new and used cars in the Cincinatti area.

The Astros are working on a blood feud with the Colorado freakin' Rockies. It's been a very well-pitched game by Jason Hirsh and WANDY (2-1 'Stros in the 8th). Berkman was up to bat and got run up by 3rd base ump Ed Hicox on a bullshit check swing call. Berkman went freakin' nuts and had to be restrained. Hicox tossed him and then things got really fun, as Berkman threw his helmet and batting gloves on the field before going into the dugout and throwing his ballbag (not that ballbag, the one that actually contains balls) onto the field. Then, in the top of the 9th, Manny Corpas reared back and hit Carlos Lee up around the top of the lead shoulder with a fastball. Lee was staring down Corpas and Corpas approached Lee. The benches and bullpens cleared. Both teams ended up getting warned by Ed Rapuano, which Phil objected to, as if, in the top of the 9th, a ball got away from Wheeler, his closer would get tossed. Luke Scott proceeded to hit a 2-run shot off of Corpas to give the 'Stros a 3-run cushion, to make the whole thing kinda moot, but it was still fun to see the big staredown.
-
Yeah, that's who it was. I had forgotten that it was Hal. Hal also discovered Roger Maris's good friend, Milt Pappas.
-
Yeah, and after the 'Stros got rid of him, he batted .331 against them in his career with a 1.031 OPS. The 'Stros have some really good minor league pitching, but for the last decade or so, they've been threadbare on position prospects. They SHOULD try to draft a catcher of a 3rd baseman, but they go by the strategy of drafting the best overall player regardless of position depth or need.

Hey, Inc, did you happen to see Cormac McCarthy on Oprah today? I thought, despite the awkwardness and the fact that McCarthy looked like he was trying to physically disappear into his easy chair, it actually went better than I had expected.
-
Yeah...AE and his defensive wizardry would be in Boston...or Pawtucket. ...or possibly with the Long Island Ducks.

Not a compensation draft pick fun fact, but a draft fun fact nonetheless: In 1992, the Astros had the first round pick and, despite the sage advice of the senior scout for the Astros, the team passed on a High School shortstop from Kalamazoo to select Phil Nevin in the first round. The shortstop, of course, turned out to be the 1996 ROY, 7-time All Star, captain of the New York Yankees while Phil Nevin batted .117 in 19 games with the Astros in 1995, got traded to Detroit and became, at best, a decent platoon/bench player. The scout that suggested Jeter to the Astros was so exasperated that he promptly quit baseball and fell off the face of the Earth, or so the legend goes.

I got to see David Price pitch against my alma mater, University of Houston, at the Houston Astros' FanFest/College Classic this past Feb. I recall that he didn't pitch THAT well (especially considering UH is a pretty bad team, more or less), but he threw a lot of different pitches and changed speeds and seemed to be poised and composed on the mound. I'd venture a guess that he'll have a spot in the D-Rays rotation either at the beginning of 08 or by next year's ASB. The Astros didn't offer arbitration to any of their players and lost draft picks for signing Carlos Lee, Woody Williams, Mark Loretta, and Rick White, so they don't get a draft pick until #131. It's good to see that Enos Cabell's still working, though. It's pretty obvious that Price is going first, but then I hear that they have a pretty healthy group of guys that could go in the next 9 or so rounds, including a high school kid that can pitch both lefty and righty. That's neat.

I wrote in Hunter Pence at every position. Kid should be an All-Star. Totally.

How's Homer Bailey doing in the minors so far? I heard he's coming up this week.
-
I read up a bit on the case a couple years ago and while I can't say definitively that they did NOT have anything to do with the killing, I also can't definitively say that they did have something to do with it. Still, it's kind of a shame that with all of the 'murkiness' surrounding the case, they haven't been able to get a review of it.

So, is that more offensive to white people or Latin Americans? Lou Piniella is suspended 'indefinitely' by MLB for kicking/kicking dirt on Mark Wegner yesterday. Damn...that's kinda harsh.
-
Ok, Lou Piniella has nothing on this dude from the Braves AA affiliate: http://youtube.com/watch?v=hUcFWPgB8oY

He looks like the little kid in the Aphex Twin video 'Come to Daddy'. 'I WAAAANT YOOOUUUURRRR SOOOOULLLLLL!!!!!!!!!"
-
Man, that Clemens' news is just...I don't wanna make sour grapes, but...it's just...haha! So, I'm watching the 'Stros/Cards game on Fox and I heard the announcers say something about the Yanks/Sox game where, apparently, Mike Lowell was running to second to break up a double play and he hit the POUNCE~! on Robinson Cano before he went in. What was that all about? Cuz he got hit last nite or because he's a grinder?

I'm going with 82. The team that wins the Central will either go on to be swept in the WS or win the WS in a sweep. Penthouse or the outhouse, and all that.
-
I like 'These are the Fables'. Yeah...good song.
