That's ridiculous. The Brewers aren't any less legit than the Tigers were. However, Cordero's arm might fall off eventually if he keeps pitching everyday.
-
I dunno...he's gotta be right one of these times. What was his reasoning?

Meh, ACL still has more artists I'd rather see than Lollapalooza. ACL has more of the singer/songwriter types and Texas artists that I enjoy. I've decided that I don't like alot of 'indie' music these days. Give me a 60 year old guy from El Paso with a whiskey-cracked voice and an acoustic guitar and I'll be happy.

His walks are mainly up because of that one game in Philly where he walked 6 and gave up 6 ER in 6 innings. Take that start out, and he has 13 BB in 57 innings and an ERA of around 2.00. I don't know if he'll get to 300. He's got 6 yrs. left on his current deal to get 107 more wins. After his current deal's up, I'm pretty sure he'll retire even if he's short of 300; Roy doesn't strike me as a guy that interested in personal milestones. I'm also surprised that Adam Dunn's not on the list. For all his strikeouts, his walks, homers, and RBI numbers are comprable to pretty much anyone on the list.

There's always Homer Bailey to look forward to. With Eric Milton going on the DL, I was surprised that they didn't call him up. I thought he was to the Reds what Phil Hughes is to the Yankees.
-
I'm tired of people talking about Roy O's declining K rate. He's a contact pitcher. He hardly ever walks anybody and most of his strikeouts come with runners in scoring position. And I don't trust any list that don't include JJ Hardy. He's a stud.

So, the lineup for Austin City Limits 2007 was revealed a minute ago. It's easily a better lineup than Lollapalooza and probably just about as good as 'roo and Coachella. So, yeah, here's the lineup (not including the 'kid's' acts and the gospel tent and some of the other filler acts, with the artists that I'm looking forward to seeing (barring schedule conflicts) asterisked: Bob Dylan * Bjork (I don't know about Bjork live. I like some of her stuff, but I'm not sure if she puts on a good live show or if her stuff will really translate well in the festival atmosphere. She is playing alot of festivals, so it probably will) The White Stripes * The Killers My Morning Jacket* Wilco * Arcade Fire * Muse Queens of the Stone Age Bloc Party * Arctic Monkeys Gotan Project Joss Stone Damien Rice * Robert Earl Keen * Lucinda Williams * Spoon * Blue October Indigo Girls The Decemberists * Paolo Nuitini Regina Spektor * Amy Winehouse Crowded House * (I only wanna see em to hear "Don't Dream It's Over", but they'll probably play that one last.) Steve Earle * Ziggy and Stephen Marley * Kaiser Chefs LCD Soundsystem * (Oh shit yeah!) Augustana (Oh shit no!) Amos Lee M.I.A. * Ben Kweller * Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! Andrew Bird * Bela Fleck & The Flecktones * Ghostland Observatory Cross Canadian Ragweed Rev. Horton Heat Pete Yorn Butch Walker Peter, Bjorn, and John * Sound Tribe Sector 9 Yo La Tengo * Joseph Arthur and the Lonely Astronauts Rodrigo y Gabriela * Zap Mama Blonde Redhead Eli Young Band Aterciopelados Heartless Bastards Raul Malo Asleep at the Wheel * The National * Midlake Dax Riggs (Dax Riggs is a fuckin' sonofabitch!) Elvis Perkins in Dearland * (I'd pick Elvis over Dylan.) Sound Team Charlie Musselwhite * Patterson Hood from The Drive-By Truckers * The Broken West Fionn Regan Rose Hill Drive They have a few more people that I've never heard of, local artists, kid's entertainers, and gospel singers. They also have an ensemble called Back Door Slam. All in all, the lineup looks really great. I'm glad that they didn't go strictly indie or 'brit-pop' like I had heard rumored. There's a good mix of indie, classic rock, country, singer/songwriters, and Marleys. Good stuff all the way around, except Augustana.

I can't believe that I picked him up last night on my fantasy team to help my pitching woes. Furthermore I can't believe it actually paid off. I'll go ya one better. I picked up Cardinals' ace (ha, ha!) Braden Looper to help my fantasy team. I have Johan Santana, Travis Hafner, Mariano Rivera, Smoltz, Dontrelle Willis, Brian McCann, and Todd Helton and SOMEHOW I'm in last place. I hate roto leagues.

Just so you know, Phil Garner's batting 1.000 on double switches this year so far. He has not yet had to get his lineup card back from the ump so he could redo it.
-
Has there ever been a case where a manager employs a 'reverse platoon' situation, starting a left-hander strictly against left-handed pitching and a right-hander against right-handed pitching? Phil Garner's got a platoon going starting Luke Scott against right handers and Jason Lane against left handers, but it's failing miserably, as Lane's hitting .280 vs. RHP and only .200 against LHP while Luke Scott's hitting .220 against RHP and .500 against LHP. It's not a huge sample size, but it's big enough to raise the question of whether the platoon should be reversed.

If the Brewers sweep both the Phillies and the Mets, I think my head might explode.
-
I know that electrowuss outfit DNTEL recorded a song that consits of a looped sample of 'The Bloop'.
-
The Astros have a darkskinned Latino with an Asian last name (Carlos Lee).
-
Wait...Andruw Jones isn't black?!?!?!? Oh my shattered little world view!
-
Is there something to The Shins that I'm missing? They're certainly ok, if a little bland and boring. I definitely don't think they're anything better than 'meh'. Am I wrong?
-
Rodrigo y Gabriela'"Orion" (Metallica cover by Mexican guitar prodigies. As wonderful and excellent as it sounds. Ole!)
-
The Brewers might never lose another game. Ever.

Dice-K might not be the next Hideki Irabu, but he still might be the next Hideki Nomo; I doubt he'll be the next Hideki Matsui, however. Edit: Hideki Nomo? Who the Hell's Hideki Nomo? Ah, Hell, I'll leave it and hope that nobody notices.

Didn't see anybody mention it, but the Yankees sent Kei Igawa to A-ball. How much did they sign him fer again?

"They were not composed altogether of flesh and blood. They had shape...but that shape was not made of matter. When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die. They all lay in stone house in Their great city R'lyeh, preserved by the spells of mighty Cthulhu for a glorious resurrection when the stars and the earth might once be ready for them." -"The Call of Cthulhu", H.P. Lovecraft

For the second time in two innings, Ryan Freel has straight up bellyflopped into the seats along third base. This time, for no apparent reason as he had no play on the ball whatsoever. I dare someone to find a scrappier player than Ryan Freel.
-
Ryan Freel just made a 'Derek Jeter' like play. He straight up did a faceplant into the crowd chasing a foul pop from Lance Berkman. Supposedly he caught the ball, but the ball has not yet been located. However, Berkman was called out, so the play was still straight up ridiculous.
-
How did he win it over JJ Hardy? JJ Hardy didn't win NL Player of April, either, did he? I love JJ Hardy. I also hate JJ Hardy, but mostly, I think he looks like a respectable young man with a little pop in his bat and pretty good range.

So, the MLB draft is going to be televised on ESPN this year...that might be good. It might suck, too.

In preparation for the upcoming movie, and because my love for him has been revived/reviven, I'm reading No Country for Old Men. It's as good as I remember. Anton Chigurh is still a badass. The more I read about the movie, the more I think it'll be really good. Tommy Lee Jones shall make a fine Sherriff Bell. I actually read through a copy of the script a little bit not too long ago and it looks like it's going to stay true to McCarthy's prose for the most part. And supposed the 'Oprah interview' is in the can and will be aired sometime in the next couple weeks. Excitement abounds.
