Oh, well I'm watching it on Gameday. He might've given Marquis a reach-around after crossing homeplate. I'm not sure.

But come on...did anyone really believe the Yankees wouldn't make the postseason? Honestly? That hasn't happened in my lifetime that I recall. And there's Billy Hall with a 2-run jack off of Marquis. Hot diggity damn~!

They did until about...the middle of August or so. They were only 1 game back at one point, and promptly lost alot of ground. I've been saying for the past month that the Astros would win the Central and the WC winner would have more wins than them. And today, the Astros assured that they'll, at worst, finish the season at .500.

It's funny that there was alot of talk about how Roger should've bailed out on Houston to go to Boston or New York because that was the only way he'd have a shot at the playoffs, and now...look at Boston. And it's gotta be more exciting doing things the way the Astros are. I personally find this kind of thing alot more exciting and interesting than having the division wrapped up from Day 1. Oh, damn, Houston's eliminated from the WC. I guess they'll just have to win the division instead. Come on, Brewers!

In Pittsburgh, the game's been going on about 35 minutes and it's already going into the top of the 5th. Roy Oswalt and that Gorzelany fellow for the Pirates are working extremely quick and the hitters have been first pitch swinging for the whole game. I don't think the pitchers have thrown more than 60 pitches put together. Each team is just trying to score a run in case the rain starts coming again and the game gets called.

Pujols has as much, if not more, protection in the lineup as Lance Berkman, which isn't to say that Berkman will win the MVP (although I think that if neither the Cards nor the Phils get into the postseason and the Astros do, he's got a good chance at winning it). Also, Berkman's driven in 20% of Houston's total runs this season single-handedly. And he's played really good defense at 1st as well. Not dissenting that Pujols, as of right now, deserves it, just making a point.

    Sweet Tea

Those Southerners are weird. Yeah, but Red Diamond tea is great. Seriously...great.

Rain has delayed the game in Pittsburgh for my Houston Astros. Luckily it was scheduled for this afternoon and not at like 7:05. The rain should pass soon so Roy can go out and do his thing. Hopefully Doug Davis chooses not to suck tonite and makes things even more interesting in the NL Central.

I'm really liking Chris Sampson for the rotation next year. After going through the much hyped Ezequial Astacio, Taylor Buchholz, and Jason Hirsh (who hasn't been bad at all, really), I think Sampson's going to be better than any of them. Looks like the 'Stros will remain 1.5 games back with the Cards going to Miller to face Davis (they suck against lefties), Sheets, Capuano, and...do they face Dave Bush or Ohka? I hope Bush.

One the same page, I've been called a favorite poster and a cock and found out that Moises Alou stole home (I certainly hope that he returned it!). Oh well, the 'Stros are uber-clutch. Some kid from New Iberia, LA named Yuman is pitching for the Bucs and I met Jess "The Body" Ventura today. Huzzah!

    DJ Shadow-The Outsider

I think this album suffers from Shadow trying too hard to do something different than what he did in the past. I don't think he should make Entroducing... every time out, but...yeah, this CD is ass.

1.5 games back. The Reds are 2.5 games back. Hell, there might only need be a one-game playoff between the Reds and the 'Stros. Thanks Woody! So, assuming this happens, is this worse than the 64 Phillies, taking into account the teams in the division that year against the ones this year?

Fixed that for ya. Yes. That makes complete and total sense, you miserable, narrowmind waste of a human being. I'm actually quite likeable and rather attractive. The 'Stros beat the Bucs 7-4 giving them a 7-game winning streak. Carpenter coughed up a 5-2 lead for the 2nd consecutive start and things are starting to get '64 Phils interesting.

    Book recommendations

Good choice on the Garcia Marquez, as I've said ever since my first post in this thread. That particular book is probably my favorite of his as far as plot goes, although One Hundred Years of Solitude is an epiphany in terms of form and style. I was planning on reading Tietam Brown by the Mick when it came out a few years ago, but I never did. I heard it was good.

Where did you hear this? It CAN'T be true. Can it? Wow, I thought Garner was smart. It was on the main page of the Astros' website. They had a quote from Garner where, when asked if Clemens would start the game if there was to be one, he said something to the effect of, "No, I want Rocket to start first in the postseason." From what I know of Garner, I'm sure he meant that comment half-joking. I certainly do imagine that if it came down to it, Clemens would start that game, although with the way that the Cards are playing, I'd have no objections to Chris Sampson starting it. Anybody but Wandy Rodriguez. I believe if it comes down to a one-game playoff, it would be Marquis' turn for the Cards unless they had Carpenter going on 3 days rest. That would be a kickass way to win the Central-Clemens vs. Carpenter at MMP for the division.

Is it because of the time he screwed up the double-switch?

Why would you say that, MIB?

One note of interest: The Houston Astros won a coin toss against the St. Louis Cardinals to determine where a playoff game for the NL Central would take place. It would come on Oct. 3rd, which would be Clemens' day to start, but Garner said if it came down to it, he wouldn't start Rocket that day cuz he wants him to start the first game of the NLDS. Edit: And there's the ballgame in St. Louis. 6-5 Friars. 2.5 games back with 6 to go. My nipples are hard.

Hey, it stuck. And now...by popular demand... The 'Stros took on the Phils tonite. The Astros were looking to move back to .500 for the first time since early July. Chris Sampson, the ground-ball machine and he of the whipass goatee, got the start against Randy "A.O" Wolf. Sampson looked really good for 3 2/3 innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs. Howard and somebody else, Utley perhaps, got on base, and Springer came in and got Pat "The Bat" to leave the bases loaded. Wandy Rodriguez gave up a 2-run single to the MVP, Ryan Howard, but Jason Lane showed what a dangerous .205 hitter he is and launched a ball to tie the game. The Phillies used about 18 pitchers in the 6th, including Rick "Double Balls" White and the Astros used about 13 pinch-hitters and ended up with a 1-run lead. Dan Wheeler came in for the save and Quintero got hit in the nuts by an Abraham O. Nunez bunt. The 'Stros are now at .500 for the season. The Dodgers are happy, and the Cards are losing. Presuming the Cards drop the game tonite and Chris Young pitches well tomorrow and the Astros can come up against Ian "Go to" Snell, they'll be 1.5 games back with 5 games to go. Thank you and don't forget to tip your waitresses.

The Astros have used 9 pitchers in 9 innings to set a new franchise record. This game's been a nail-biter, for sure.

Whatagamewhatagame. Matt Smith no longer has a 0.00 ERA. And OP continues to be hot. Edit: LAMBO~!!!!!!!!!!!! The 'Stros have absolutely no fuckin' quit in them whatsoever.

Yeah. Sept. 25th has been good for the 'Stros. Mike Scott got his no-no to clinch the division back in 86 on this day. Did Quintero get hit in the nuts by that Nunez bunt? It looked like it hurt. I hope to see "Double Balls" Rick White get in this game.

Jason Lane muscles up on one to tie it at 2, but I'm sure everybody in this thread is watching the game already. Hey! Quintero's on base again. Have a game, Q!
