Well, that's Wandy Rodriguez for ya...

David Wells has gout. I find that...hilarious.

I can understand that. I really do like the Cardinals...mostly. I really like Pujols and Eckstein in particular. The only two Cardinals I really don't like at all are Carpenter and Looper. I have unjustified dislike of Carpenter, and I just really, really don't like Looper and his stupid smile. My Dad thinks he looks like John Lithgow. I always get kinda mad at my fellow Astros' fans when they boo at Pujols after what he did in the NLCS. It's not Albert's fault that Lidge hung a slider. And I got really angry the other nite when Vizcaino came up to pinch-hit and Astros' fans booed him. I love Viz and his goggles. Now I'm just rambling so I'm going to go write my paper about Cortes and Moctezuma. Go 'Stros!

Are you buff? If so...muscle-for-hire, baby~!

Meh, I love Oswalt, Pettitte, and Clemens. They're like some wicked three-headed pitching monster. And I don't see how anybody can hate Lance Berkman. He's like Pujols but not Dominicana. And it's not like the Cards haven't had a playoff appearance in the last 15 years like the Tigers. They've been in the postseason as much as the 'Stros. It looks like this postseason will be interesting with a few of the usuals in it and also some new blood like the Tigers, Mets, Phils, and Twins.

I could realistically see the Cards going 3-4 to end the season. Carpenter only pitches twice and they've gotta face, on the whole, tougher pitchers than the Astros. The Cards face Chris Young, Ben Sheets, Capuano, and Dave Bush. The 'Stros, luckily, don't have to face either Cole Hamels or Brett Myers tonite and there's a good chance Smoltz won't start the last game of the season. However, there's the issue of home vs. road. The Cards are at home and the 'Stros are on the road. The Cards have been much better at home and pretty bad on the road; same with the 'Stros. If my 'Stros don't win the division, it's still cool to see em put up such a fight. And I don't think Czech has the arm strength to hurl his TV from Illinois all the way to Houston. He's not Magnus ver Magnusson or anything. And if the 'Stros win, you can betcha there'll be a long diatribe. Hopefully naiwf won't get too upset.

It won't be easy, but it's do-able. I just don't understand when dude up there said the Phillies could cut the Astros E# to 1 if they win today. I believe it currently stands at 5. Yeah, anyway, if the Astros pull one out tonite, there's a chance they realistically could go 7-0 to end the season. Their last games are against the Pirates and the Braves. John Smoltz might start for the Braves, but probably not.

What was his real name anyway? I might be able to think of it....was it....Torres something or other? Anyway, it seems like there's been a rash of "minor child stars die in various ways" rumors put out recently. I heard one about Kel Mitchell from Keenan and Kel not too long ago and like...day before yesterday, I heard one about Ben Savage. This has nothing to do with music.

Fresh off a sweep of the 1st place Cards, the Astros send out rookie pitcher Matt Albers to try and cool down the hot Phils. ...I wonder if Roger'll be good to go tomorrow...
-
I'm kinda disappointed with the win tonite. I wanted another walk-off. No, seriously, this was damn sweet. Sure, the Cards haven't been playing well and the Astros will probably have to go 7-0 and the Cards 3-3 for the rest of the season...and then they would have that 1/2 game to make up with the Giants...and then a one-game playoff, but still...the Astros played these games like they haven't played for much of the season. Good pitching. Clutch hits. Come from behind wins. The Astros team that played these 4 games probably could go to the WS and hold their own. Unfortunately, they still have only a slim chance to win the division.

C.R.E.A.M Dolla dolla bills, ya'll.

...No shit? How'd he die?

I wish Danny from "Hey Dude" had a rap group.

Maybe Skip Schumaker can fill the void. His name is certainly gayer than Jim Edmonds.

So, what do ya think the rotation's gonna look like for next year? Isn't Carpenter the only one signed? What's Mulder's status? Is he gonna be ready to go in ST? Is Wainwright gonna be in the rotation or is he gonna be the closer? Will any of the holy trinity of Marquis, Sosa, and Weaver be in Cardinal Red next year? With the way the Cards are playing now and the questions for next season, I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish like...third in the division.
-
To what, jwest, do you attribute the Cardinal's lack of...everything? Is it TLR? Bad pitching? A lack of swagger? Especially on the road. If the Cards make the postseason this year, they'll have like...one of the top 3 worst road records of any postseason team.

Well, Rolen's been playing a couple months more than Duncan...and Spiezio hasn't played as many games as Rolen, at least I don't think he has. I was just talking about the specific games that I've seen. Admittedly, I haven't seen any Cardinals games outside of the ones against the 'Stros and a couple on ESPN. The last few weeks at least, I'm pretty sure that Duncan and Spiezio have done more than Rolen. Maybe the resident Cards' fan(s) can either prove or disprove that.
-
I wouldn't say outside of Rolen the lineup is crap around Pujols. From what I've seen of the Cards this year, Chris Duncan and Scott Speizio have performed better than Rolen.
-
Luke Fuckin' Scott! 3-run walkoff homerun to win the third straight over the Cards!!! 4.5 games back!!! Sweeeeeeeeep!!!! Sweeeeeeeeep!!!!! I find it interesting that the Astros now have a better shot at winning the division and going to the postseason than the ChiSox.
-
Just after I was about to say "Goddam Crawford Boxes" after Chris "Gleaming Gold God" Duncan hit a 2-run shot, Aubrey Huff muscled up on Jorge Sosa and went to right field to give the 'Stros a one-run lead. Take away both Crawford Box homeruns and it's still 2-1 'Stros.

Man, it just looks like the Cards are playing dead. Albert got thrown out trying to score on a single and it wasn't even close. Him and Oquendo had eyes afterwards. And Marquis is just...bad. He's got a chance at becoming the first pitcher since 1979 to lead the league in both wins and losses. Presuming the Astros win tonite and tomorrow, they'll be 3.5 back with 7 games to go. The way the 'Stros are playing and the way the Cards are playing, it might not seem probable, but it is certainly possible that they could sneak in the backdoor.

Don't even think about starting that baloney. I believe the proper spelling is "bologna"...jive turkey.

I invented this thing. I can repeat all the cheeses I want. Wait till next week when we do lunch meats. Then I can really "ham" it up.
