Yeah...The NL blows this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see the WC winning team being either .500 or less than 3 games over .500.

I wouldn't say "RIP Houston" just yet. There's still 6 games between the 'Stros and the Phils, and I'm sure I don't need to remind you how the last...12 or so of those games have turned out.

Ah...I thought you were talking only about how well he fielded his position. Yeah, I agree if you bring in his batting average and such, he's not cuttin' it, but the pitchers like working with him, and he's got a nice ass...or so I hear from various female Astros' fans.

...Brad Ausmus based on this year? Gimmie stats, man. He can't throw out a runner to save his life, but he can still block balls. I always thought he was one of the better defensive catchers in the league. And I knew Viz would homer in his first game as a Cardinal. Oh well, I always liked Viz. So, I hear the Phils/Cubs game has been pretty good, but I spent the evening watching one of the best games I've seen this season...Oregon/Illinois Little League game. Oregon no-hit Illinois, despite giving up three runs. It was really a good game...for Little League.

Pfft. Figures that Preston dives into the crowd and starts doing amazing things for the Cardinals. Vizcaino will probably hit for the cycle in his first game for em. And Preston always looses his hat. Like..always. I like his 'do rags'. Sweet, man.

The Astros salvaged a win in the Reds' series today. The offense EXPLODED~! for 6 runs in the 6th inning. It was the biggest inning the Astros have had in over a month. Next up is the Pirates. The St. Louis Cardinals signed my Dad's third favorite player (behind Julio Franco and Orlando Palmiero...my Dad likes old utility players.) Jose Vizcaino. I assume he'll be a backup plan if Eckstein is hurt. Is Eckstein hurt? What's the deal with him?

You've proven yourself to be a complete "New York"-centric jackass, so anything I say is not addressed to you. Now respond with something dumb like how the sports team from your state is performing better than my state so I'm obviously inferior to you.

You people are acting like the Astros are out of the race. They're...only...7...games...back...in...the Wild...card. With 36 games to go? Oh boy... Let's go Rangers~!

I wish there were some Devil Rays fans I could pick on to make myself feel better about the Astros, but the D-Rays are actually not all that bad. Norris Hopper? Who the shit is Norris Hopper? Oh well, it's still just one loss, whether it's 2-1 or 28191012-0, like this game is shaping up to be.

Yeesh...I think Wandy Rodriguez had a better start against the Brewers the other day when he walked like...15 people in one inning. Jason Hirsh isn't looking like a "rookie phenom". Every rookie pitcher that starts against the Astros looks like Cy Freakin' Young, but ever rookie pitcher the Astros start looks like utter crap. I'm trying hard not to become bitter and jaded, ala some Cubs' fans, but...the odds of the Astros making the playoffs aren't very good. There...I said it.

It's a good thing I was raised a New Orleans Saints fan, and, thus, am used to dissapointment. Otherwise, I'd be crying in my Arizona Sweet Tea. I wish if the 'Stros were gonna bomb, they'd do it with reckless abandon and take the route of the Cubs and do dumb things like play Freddy Bynum at 2nd.

    This Weekend in Baseball

The Astros beat the Brewers behind Roger Clemens, and, as I predicted, scored three runs. Tomorrow begins a crucial series with the Reds. I hope the 'Stros can take 2 outta 3. I'm pretty sure they can get the final game of the set with Roy Oswalt facing that one guy with the weird last name that hasn't made many starts this year...that Chris Mchaxawaxay fellow. In a minor move that might become interesting, the Astros DFA'd Eric Munson. Munson was only hitting .204, but was doing a respectable job as the backup catcher. They called up former Pirates' draft pick J.R. House. House was batting .422 in AAA this season, but was mostly playing first base. From what I heard he was a butcher at catcher, so it'll be interesting to see how he does catching in the majors.

Well, now the Tigers have found the missing link they needed to ensure a spot in the Postseason. Hell, now that they have Neifi, I bet they'll win it all. He can play 2nd and short!!

    Killer of Jonbenet Ramsy arrested

And also because it would be good to see justice finally done for Jonbennet and her family? You know a six year girl was horrifically murdered here. I'm not having a go at anyone specifically, but it seems a lot of people are just treating this case as some sort of entertainment for themselves. Well, obviously that, too. Six year old girls (and boys) are murdered every day and they don't become news stories. I apologize if my sarcastic remark offended anyone's Puritan sensibilities.

I dunno...they've been known to get as high as three runs for Clemens when they're feelin' froggy. With Garner using the entire bullpen (mostly) tonite, I hope Rocket can go about 12 strong innings of 3-hit shutout ball.

Hey now, overzealous snuffer. This is a 4-game set. I know it seems like a while ago, but my Astros won the first game of the series, and if we woulda started ANYBODY but Wandy Rodriguez today, we probably coulda taken this one, too. Rocket tomorrow. After that...who the Hell knows?

    Killer of Jonbenet Ramsy arrested

About the Patsy Ramsey killing her daughter for wetting the bed thing, I wasn't mentioning that as something that I personally believe. I was just throwing out interesting bits and pieces of things that I read various places. Personally, I don't think that her parents murdered her, but I wouldn't be surprised if they had something to do with it. So, has anybody seen one of the newest articles that has side-by-side pitcures of Karr and the psychic sketch released 10 years ago? That's creepy.

    Let It B(l)e(ed)

"Monkey Man" is not awesome. "Monkey Man" is the exact opposite of awesome. "Monkey Man" is wood.

    Let It B(l)e(ed)

Clearly the voting is rigged, as the only choice one can select is Let It Bleed. However, the choice between the two is tough. Let It Bleed has a buncha great songs-"You Can't Always Get What you Want", "Gimmie Shelter", "Let It Bleed", the cover of "Love In Vain"... However, Let It Be also has some really great songs-"Across the Universe", "Let It Be", "Two of Us", "Get Back", "I've Got a Feeling"... Hmmm....it's tough, but I'll go with Let It Be because I like the "live"-ness of it. And I really, really hate "Monkey Man".

This just in...Brad Lidge still blows ass. I'm excited to see Dave Borkowski start tomorrow. He's been shockingly great this season, despite having a 6.00 ERA in the AL...but, this isn't the AL, so he's better than good. Luke Scott's still hitting over .420 after 100 ABs. Adam Everett hasn't made an error in almost 70 games. There's bright spots for the Astros, especially since the damn Pirates have been kicking the Cards' and Reds' asses the past week or so.

Isn't Yo La Tengo from Portland? Or are they from Washington? What about Elliott Smith? Where's he from?

Hmmm....very true. At the very least, he's gotta fare better than Jeff Weaver, although he's been rounding into form the last couple starts.

    Top 10 Oregon Albums

I don't get why most people think "Picaresque" is the best Decemberists' CD. I personally prefer "Castaways and Cutouts" and "Her Majesty...", but oh well. And I don't much care for The Shins. I mean, I like em, but I don't like like em.

I bet the Reds'll take a long, hard look at him.
