Some kid on Myspace kills his mom.

I like how he offsets his weed leaf background/cursor combo by having a picture of him and his "beautiful grandma". -
Yeah, I just remembered that after I posted it. I imagine he'll be up in September. I also heard through the grapevine that there's serious negotiations with Baltimore about Tejada for Qualls, Everett, and Hunter Pence. I suspect the only way this deal would happen is if Tejada would be willing to sign a deal that would keep him in Houston past this year. Still, that's a good bit to give up even for Tejada...unless he's willing to share his "hitting secrets" with the rest of the team...

The Houston Astros have sent down Wandy Rodriguez and called up top AA pitching prospect Matt Albers. Wandy Rodriguez did lead the staff with 9 wins, but he also had a 5.22 ERA and walked almost as many as he struck out. Albers was 10-2 with a 2.18 ERA with the Corpus Christi Hooks. This Saturday when Brandon Backe rejoins the club either Fernando Nieve or Taylor Buchholz will be sent down. I suspect Nieve. I think this is a good move to send Wandy down, but I'm not sure why the Astros called up Matt Albers instead of the top pitching prospect Jason Hirsch who is all the rage in AstroLand these days.

I'm reviving my previously dead topic to mention how much better ACL just got for me this past week. For one...Sufjan Stevens is playing in Austin (but not at ACL) on Sept. 15th, the first nite of the festival. Me and my lady are going to see him, and we only are going to miss John Mayer and Van "non-freakin'" Morrisson. Then, we find out today that TV on the Radio are now playing the second day of the festival. They're only playing for 45 minutes, but still... So, anyway, now, I get to see Wolf Parade, Gnarls Barkley, Massive Attack, TV on the Radio, various members of Broken Social Scene in various incarnations, Sufjan Stevens, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Iron and Wine, and the Flaming Lips all in the span of a weekend. If only Arcade Fire were going to be there again...

Heeeeeeey....I have that book. I haven't read it. I've read many-a biography on the Beatles in my day and I keep getting more for gifts even though I haven't actively professed my undying love of the Beatles in going on 10 years. It looks pretty comprehensive, however.

I've never read Gravity's Rainbow straight through. Like James Joyce's Ulysses, I always seem to just read random parts of it at different times. I'm behind on my Pynchon. Mason & Dixon waits on my bookshelf to be read.

How about Morgan and Everett to SD for Linebrink and Khalil Greene, then Greene and Lidge for Tejada? I figure Baltimore will want some offense to offset the loss of Tejada and I figure Greene's more likely to provide it than Everett. The only problem I have is if Baltimore wants someone like Hunter Pence. I can see them wanting him thrown in and I'd be hesitant to throw in someone who at 22 has moved up the traditionally slow Astros minor league system. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker though IF the Astros can get Tejada to agree to an extension. Yeah, the thing I'm hearing is that the Astros are absolutely opposed to trading either Hunter Pence or Jason Hirsch. I'm pretty sure if that's who the O's want, the deal won't happen. I honestly don't really see the Tejada deal coming off. Apparently, the Astros were the frontrunners at the beginning of the season to get him, but he didn't wanna sign an extension so that nixed the deal. There's no way I'd give up Lidge or Everett to get Tejada if he was just going to be a rent-a-player. I'd rather just give up Mo for Linebrink and forget Tejada if that were to be the case.

It's a three-way tie betwixt: The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, Bringin' It All Back Home, and Blonde on Blonde with Hwy 61 Revisited being a strong 1a.

So uh...the 'Stros won. Clemens got his 2nd win of the season after pitching 6 3-hit shutout innings. But the real reason I posted this is... Does anybody know what to make of...this product: Uh...yeah. I never knew Matt Ginter played such wicked banjo.
-
So uh...the Padres released Vinny Castilla. Methinks Morgan Ensberg will be relocating to the West Coast soon. On AOL Sports, they have the top 15 Free Agents and the supposed "best chances" to score them, and the 'Stros are listed as the most likely to get Scott Linebrink, who I see a very good possibility of them getting...for Ensberg...and pre-season Astros' conversation piece Miguel Tejada, presumably for Lidge and Everett; at least that was the deal before the season started.

I think Maddux just won his 15th Gold Glove with this game against my 'Stros. He's made 7 plays. This game's actually living up to the billing, as Clemens and Maddux are dueling, whereas last year, if I recall correctly, neither one pitched extremely well, or as well as might be expected.

I'd also like to show love for Dylan's melodious croon on "Lay Lady, Lay" and most of the rest of Nashville Skyline. I like that record. Not as much as the some of his other stuff, but it's still a good record and interesting to listen to.

I'll probably be seeing most of their set at Austin City Limits. I am...looking forward to it.
-
Ah...do ya happen to have the line on that game handy?
-
Well, at least I don't drive a pickup and wear sleevless button up shirts... This is the third Clemens/Maddux match? I thought this was only gonna be the 2nd. I know Maddux won last year, when was the other game?

Was he waxing his truck? Ha! That's great. I love Jeff Kent. I met him here in Houston at this BBQ place by Minute Maid Park last year when the Dodgers where in town. He signed a napkin for me, which I threw away on accident, but the brisket was bangin'~! I hate to pull a Czech, but..."by accident." I'm Texan and my grammar reflects that. I am but a product by my environment.

"Ballad of a Thin Man" and "Don't Think Twice" have already been taken, so I'll go more obscure and say "With God On Our Side".

I dropped outta high school at the end of my sophmore year, back in nineteen hundred and ninety-nine...mainly due to disagreements with the public school system (interesting stuff, really.). Anyway, I got my equivalency degree like...2 months later, so there I was...16 with a High School degree and nothing to do, so I basically sat around for 4 years, moved from Louisiana to Texas and worked crappy jobs until I finally decided to go to do something with my life and now I'm a semester away from graduating Summa Cum Laude in English. Next year, I'm going to get certified to teach High School. I'm gonna make the kids call me "Coach". I originally had a point about taking a year off after High School, but I lost it. I just got up from a nap.

I went to good ol' College of the Mainland, a community college in Texas City, Tx for about a year and a half to get all of my core curriculum out of the way and it was, as everybody has already said, both cheaper and easier than a 4 year school. I'm not very social anyway, so I can't say that I was disappointed about the lack of social activity. The biggest difference between that school and my current school, University of Houston, is that at UH, all the professors have to have a Masters Degree, whereas at my former university, they only had to have a BA, so they had alot of unqualified people teaching classes, and also alot of teachers that weren't very knowledgable on their subject matter outside of their curriculum.

From what I know of She Wants Revenge, I think it's two guys who used to be producers who have tried numerous different gimmicks to become successful recording artists, including doing a hip-hop project, before deciding to cash in on the retro/new wave/80s synth music thing. Yeah, I like Husker Du.
-
Talking to my girlfriend today, I found out that she likes the song "Dance, Dance" by Fall Out Boy. She also likes that band She Wants Revenge, which is a good example of a band in pretty much the same genre as The Killers, but making music that isn't inoffensive as much as it is actively bad. I mean, I'd go to a Killers concert, but only if I were given the ticket as a gift or won it in some wacky radio promotion.

Geez...the first time I get pwned on this board and it comes from a gimmick poster. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
