That was...very bizzare to say the least. I thought it was neat that Roy was throwing 97 mph after pitching a damn complete game 3 days ago. I thought it wasn't neat that Pujols did it again. If we were gonna give up a homer to Pujols, why couldn't Russ Springer do it?

Jimmy Edmonds just made "the greatest play in the history of Tal's Hill (aka the big hill in centerfield at MMP)." Highlights sure to be on BBTN and Sportscenter.

I'm sorry but I don't recall attacking you. And I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say "first it was imagine now it's indifference". I don't feel that my comments were foolish, but to each his own. Do you work for the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs or something? You're on their street team, right? Either way, I still have no interest in the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Maybe you should soften your approach. It's been fun, but I have other things to do so I'm done with this arbitrary arguement until my battle rap CD drops, boy-eeeee!

Geez, you're a master baiter. Please, in the future, refrain from calling me either "buddy" or "son". I'm also not a victim of the MTV generation. I just didn't hear anything in the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs first CD that would make me want to actively seek out their second CD. I have nothing against them, but I would be just fine if I didn't ever hear a Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs' song again. I sincerely apologize if my general indifference to the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs offended you so greatly. Obviously I'm not a wonderful connossieur of music like you because if I don't care for something, I have no desire to seek out more of it, even if it means being called "buddy" or "amateur" on an internet message board.
-
Well, I try to not make sweeping generalizations about other musicians. I can only use my own opinion. I have nothing against the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. I just like the Arcade Fire better than I like them. I'm not dismissing them, I'm just stating an opinion about them while keeping in mind that my opinion doesn't have to be the opinion of everyone else. I don't think that's an "amateur" thing to do. I think it's quite mature and well-rounded, thankyouverymuch. Image has something to do with music. Otherwise bands wouldn't put pictures of themselves in CD sleeves or on TV and they would wear plastic garbage bags when they perform.

I prefer The Arcade Fire over the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs any day of the week. Probably Wolf Parade, too. TV on the Radio is close, though. I could go either way. The YYYs seem too image concious, at least they did on their first CD. I haven't really heard any of their new stuff to judge.

The Arcade Fire makes music that comes from the loins. I like music that comes from the loins.

I live in Houston, and I promise you Backe is a draw. And the goodness of his pitching certainly can be argued either way. He's had some struggles in the regular season, but he's not pitched overly bad. But he's been lights out in the post-season, namely in 2004 against the Cards and this past year in the WS in Game 4 where he struck out 7 Sox in a row and allowed 1 or 2 hits over 7 innings. But, yeah, in Houston and surrounding areas...Backe's a bigtime draw.

I don't think Garner will be pressured to take Roy. I think Roy deserves it based on his numbers. He's near tops in the NL based on his numbers excluding wins, which aren't really fair to gauge a pitcher on. It's not his fault that the bullpen has an ERA of 9.00 in his starts. Hell, he's even decided that the only way to not have the bullpen to blow your game is to throw a complete game, but when he does that, the offense can't score anything. I think it also helps that he's on the Astros. But at least he's not on the White Sox. In any event, I wouldn't be surprised if Capuano gets in anyway. Alot of the pitchers on the NL team have to pitch this Sunday and won't be available to pitch in the game, so if Capuano's rested, there's a chance he'll get on the team. In other Astros/Brewers news, the pitching match-up for this Sunday's Round Rock Express vs the Brewer's AAA Nashville affiliate...Brandon Backe vs. Ben Sheets. I bet the game's a sell-out.

In my Berries and Cream induced state, that almost made sense. It is time for me to go now.
-
Now I've lost all credibility with you and the good people at Foot Locker. And I shamelessly still enjoy The Arcade Fire. And this Berries and Cream thing really starts to grow on you after a while.
-
Hell, I dunno.

Take me seriously in what regard? My indifference to Belle and Sebastian or my enjoyment of The Arcade Fire?
-
Oh, I wasn't calling LCD Soundsystem twee. I'd just call them a band that's mildly entertaining but wears thin after a while. I was referring to your enjoyment of Belle and Sebastian with the "twee" remark. I don't get what's so wonderful about them. I mean, they're nice enough, but they sound like mid 70s AM pop music. They're like Berries and Cream Dr. Pepper. I mean, sure, the Berries and Cream are a nice addition, but meh... (I admit that analogy is terrible, but I'm enjoying a B&C Dr. Pepper right now and I find nice, but wholly uninteresting, not unlike Belle and Sebastian.) What's wrong with The Arcade Fire? At least they have energy... I don't like the word "twee" either. I also don't like the word "electroclash". I do, however, enjoy the words "grunge", "crunk", and "grime" when referring to musical genres and styles.

The first concert of theirs I went to, the drummer and the bass player were in the audience watching the opening bands and the drummer got a light from me. I thought he was just some rasta dude. No shit, I thought the bass player was Skee-Lo, he of "I Wish" fame.
-
Twee...as defined by dictionary.com-"overly precious or nice". Like Belle and Sebastian. Or maybe it's just that they're European.
-
I'd like to interview the bass player...or the drummer. My girlfriend thinks it's cute that the bass player's so shy that he won't face the audience.
-
At least Arcade Fire aren't twee.
-
I bet if Shooter or Hank 3 wore sweaters and collared shirts and sang androgynous love songs you'd dig em more.
-
Hey, I just got the Shooter Jennings CD today. I'd give it a 6 outta 10. I like the slower tempo stuff more than the rootin' tootin' "busted for smokin' dope" songs. I also got the new Hank 3 CD. I like Hank 3. He's like his daddy and his grandaddy rolled into one Phil Anselmo friendly/Kid Rock hating package.
-
Yeah, TV on the Radio rulz to the max0r. And they have really cool t-shirts. I have the one of the chicken guy stabbing the dragon thing with a spear. That shirt rules. At the first concert of theirs I went to, Kyp told the crowd to "go totally bananas" for the opening band. Any black dude with a gigantic beard and afro that uses the phrase "totally bananas" rules. As good as the stretch at the back end of Young Liars is, I preferthe "Staring at the Sun", "Dreams", "King Eternal", "Ambulance" middle of Desperate Youth... That stretch of songs is like...out of this world good. And "Cover your balls cuz we swing kung-fu" is the most badass thing ever said by anybody anywhere.
-
I've seen TVOTR live three times as of yet, and every single time they've blown me away. The first time I saw 'em, they did a beatbox version of "Ambulance" that was amazing. I'd include them in the "Bands Better Live" category, because as good as they are on CD, sometimes, especially on Desperate Youth they've sounded kinda distant and (to use Pitchfork's term) cold, but live, good God, they bring it. They seriously have my two favorite vocalists in all of music right now. The only problem is that they usually have shitty bands play with them. The first time I saw em in Austin, they had this really good band called Apollo Heights, but another shitty local band. The first time I saw em in Houston, they were opening for The Faint. The Faint sucks. All those pseudo-goth kids were blown away by TV on the Radio. This last time, they had some crappy Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs rip off opening for them, but still, TVOTR are the second best touring band I've seen...next to The Arcade Fire.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but how many times has Capuano gotten a complete game shutout against the Cubs this season? It seems like every time he pitches against the Cubs he gets one. Kinda like Chris Carpenter against the 'Stros last year. I suspect that Roy Oswalt will be getting Pedro's spot on the All-Star team. He's got a 6-5 record, but he should really have about 9 wins. His last three starts, he's pitched 25 innings and given up 6 runs. The White Sox game, the bullpen blew it. His last two starts have been complete game losses, 3-1 and 1-0. I really hope Roy gets 20 wins this season, but it's not looking good. I predict a wild weekend series for the 'Stros and the Cards. Tonite's game got a little heated with Molina getting hit (unitentionally) in the coconut. It was terrible to watch. He was on first base and wandering down the right field line and over to the stands. He was just out of it. Then Lance "Big Puma" Berkman got hit, probably unintentionally. Then there was this weird balk call that came during a timeout that saw a heated exchange between Orlando Palmiero and Aaron Miles. Then Chris Burke popped up a bunt and Gary Bennet about shoulder tackled him down trying to make a Superman play on it. Either way, it was a good game and a good win. Taylo "Buckles" Buchholz looked impressive and Berkman has a friggin' cannon.
