So, if I were to take a poll of everyone's favorite Hank Williams, would it be Hank 1, Hank 2, or Hank 3?

"Lil' miss, lil' miss, lil' miss can't be wrong..."

There is no one what will be as good as Elvis. He was the greatest thief of black music that ever lived.

Frank McCourt, author of Tis and Angela's Ashes or Frank McCourt, owner of the Dodgers? ...I'd assume the latter.
-
So, I hear on Pitchfork that Neutral Milk Hotel might have a new CD coming out. They also have videos of TV on the Radio in concert with two old white guys that won't shut up.

If Kenny Lofton digs Nickleback, I'm going to have to re-examine my entire life up to this point. Derek Lowe seems accurate. His taste in music reflects his pitching acumen...mediocre.
-
Well, it probably wasn't Izturis or Saito...
-
Yeah...Gram Parsons is great. I only thought I dug "Love Hurts" till I heard him and Emmylou do it.

Nickelback? Yeesh...that's why Jeff Kent should always be in charge of the stereo. He'd put on some David Allen Coe or something. It said in the article that Reitsma was battling the numbness all season but didn't tell his coaches till after he bombed in Houston. I thought if a player had a contract, they couldn't be cut or anything if they were on the DL.

Is the competitive drive in atheletes so high that they'll continue to underperform while being seriously injured, risking long-term bodily injury instead of just...letting someone know so you can get professional medical attention? As evidenced by Chris Reitsma and many others before him, trying to play while injured doesn't do anything but hurt the team.

I met Paul Wall at the baseball game tonite. He's got a shiny mouth.
-
Maybe Bob Melvin's just trying to do something to get his team fired up, or to get the media to talk about the Diamondbacks in context of something other than HGH.

Nomar got hit three times on Monday? And the D'Backs pitchers didn't get thrown out? Did they hit Nomar because he was holding up the game with his OCD pre-batting ritual?
-
I like Gonzo. What did he say exactly? I completely missed out on this D'Backs/Dodgers thing.

Can we instead use it to discuss our favorite candy bars? I like Take 5.

That's a wide range of "super musicians". AC/DC, eh? Is this thread going to turn into a quagmire like "Who is the defining artist of this generation?" I'll start it off by saying...Radiohead.

Well, the 'Stros lost and wasted Roy O's fabulous pitching performance (yet again.) The entire population of Weir, Mississippi-Roy's home town-was in attendence tonite sitting in a section behind homeplate. The highlight of the nite was meeting Paul freakin' Wall on the concourse of MMP. His grill is worth more than my house, car, and the rest of my possessions. Oh well, 4 with the Cards. We can still go into the ASB tied for first.

I bet it'll never happen. It's an empty threat so the upper brass can appear to the fans like they actually care about the product. Of all the replacement candidates mentioned, I'd like to see Jimy Williams managing the Cubs. That would be great.

The Scott Walker album is a masterpiece, but not one that really lends itself to be listened to several times or even more than occasionally. It's not a masterpiece in its listenability.

...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of the Dead-Source Codes and Tags First time I listened to it in a good year. By and large enjoyable. Wilco-Kickin' Television Disc 2. Wilco's really great live. I wish that the version of "Via Chicago" on the CD was the slowed up steel guitar one they played when they were in Houston last year. Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress-Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress If this had come out this year, it would be my favorite record of the year, but it came out last year, but I first heard it this year. Really great stuff. Highly recommended. Townes Van Zandt-Live at the Old Quarter Not a day goes by that I don't listen to Townes Van Zandt. Johnny Cash-A Hundred Highways Fantastic. I can listen without irony as Cash stays to non-Soundgarden/NIN alternative songs.

Good win for the 'Stros today, and it was Dollar Dog Day at MMP. I love Dollar Dog Day. If St. Louis keeps sucking and Atlanta cooperates, the Astros could conceivably be in first place going in to the All-Star Break. News from around the batting cages suggests that Roy Oswalt's gonna take someone's spot on the All-Star team, most likely Pedro, what with his hip and all.

That's just Wade being Wade. Wade's arm is shot. Like...beyond Kerry Wood bad.

Off the top of zee head: Liars-Drums' Not Dead Danielson-Ships Band of Horses-Everything All the Time TV on the Radio-Return to Cookie Mountain (It hasn't come out yet. I think it comes out in the next week or so, but I've heard it and it's stupendous.)

M.V.P. stands for Most Valuable (Big) Puma, as Lance Berkman has homered twice this game and driven in 4 runs to give him the NL lead. Hopefully we can hold on to this 5 run lead.

The only two 'staches that can come close to Scrapiron's are Jeff Kent's porno 'stache and Rollie Fingers's 'stache.
