    John Lennon - Imagine

My Mom was there, but she was really in to The Monkees and The Archies and didn't care one way or the other about John Lennon or Bob Dylan, so maybe he's on to something.

And then there's places like PetCo and RFK where it's damn hard to hit one out. It balances out. And I still stand by the arguement that it's not a "cheap homerun" on the grounds that when an opposing team hits one out to the Crawford boxes, their fans don't go "Ohhhh! What a cheap homerun!!!" They're there for either team. Yes, the Astros play more home games in Minute Maid, but it's not like they're the only team allowed to hit the ball to left field. The fact of the matter is that it's 315 to left field whether you're Lance Berkman or Chipper Jones or David Eckstein or Carlos Delgado.

I'm nothing if not a homer.

Cheap nothing. The boxes are there for the visiting team, too. Anyway, give props to Liriano. On "Clemens Day", he totally ripped shit up. He's unbelievable and only 22. Makes me wish I did more with my life.

All I have to say about the 'Stros game tonite is that if this is the worst that Clemens pitches all season, I'll be thrilled. He's pitching pretty well. It's obvious that he needs more stamina. And luckily, the 'Stros won't have to face Liriano in every one of his starts. Oy vey, is he good or what?

That's great. Clemens first batter back and he gets his first error of the season. Oh well, double play and strikeout cleaned up the inning. Go Rocket~!

Hmmm...methinks they might be rushing Pujols back. Wasn't he supposed to be out for at least 6 weeks? Hopefully they don't rush him in there and cause him to get hurt even worse. That would be...good for the Astros.

Hmmm...my personal favorite Clemens' performance is the one this past season against the Marlins the day that his Mom died. That was a great moment. And he got more run support in that game than he had had all season.

I vote self-loather. Obviously, he hates himself and takes it out on Jay Mariotti. In non-joking/homophobic White Sox news, I just heard that Ozzie and David Riske are gettin' suspended for a couple games.

If you keep talking bad about the great state of Texas, I'm going to tell our cowboy President to further invade your privacy and do things that make you uncomfortable.

I have no problem with homosexuals or Jay Mariotti, I just thought the picture was funny. Ozzie looks uncomfortable. I shouldn't talk bad about the Sox anyway. We play them this weekend and they're stomping the Cards.

Yankees' 2003 Record: 101-61. Yankees' 2004 Record: 101-61. I am aware that the Yankees weren't really hurt as far as fielding a competitive team when Clemens and Pettitte left, and I'm also aware that the Astros dramatically underperformed for the first half of 2004 and Pettitte only started 14 games in 2004, but it was a big deal for Texas people everywhere to see two Texas guys leaving the big city to come back home. Don't hate us...we're just simple country folk. Don't worry. If I were really mean I'd just provide a link to the 1980 postseason. And I'd counter by providing a link to pretty much every 'Stros/Phillies series of the last few years...especially the one last September with Wagner's ineptness and Biggio's clutch 3-run shot that effectively kept the Phils outta the postseason.

Yeah, but it sounds better like that. Either way, he blew 'em off, and rightfully so. They treated him poorly.

That's just mean. It's not like he was the only NL pitcher to look bad in the 2004 ASG. My favorite Yankees moment- Offseason 2003, Clemens and Pettitte ditch the Apple to come home to Texas My favorite Red Sox moment- August 30, 1990-The Red Sox trade Jeff Bagwell to the Houston Astros for RHP Larry Andersen.

Is that a swoon? There's nothing wrong with having a crush on Bryan Ferry. If you had a crush on Brian Eno, that would be weird.

I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy "Clemens Day". I know I'm in the minority of people that like Clemens, but I'm really, really excited to see him pitch tonite. I'm also really, really excited to see Liriano pitch tonite. I'm expecting Clemens to have a good game tonite. He looked dominant in the minor leagues. Of course the minor leagues aren't the same as the major leagues, but, still, he looked really sharp in his three starts and, being the competitor that he is, I really think that Roger wouldn't have come back if he didn't think he was going to be dominant. So, I'm not worried that Clemens is going to get rocked, I'm just worried about what our bats are going to do against Liriano. Should be a good game.

"Jealous Guy" is just a good song in general. There's been alot of good cover versions of it. The forementioned Roxy Music one...Jeff Tweedy had a good one. Donny Hathaway did a good job on it. Joe Cocker's is pretty nice. Lou Reed did a pretty ok one. Hell, even Collective Soul did a passable job on it. I like the original best of all, but I had a crush on John Lennon.

    John Lennon - Imagine

I stand by my opinions. "Oh My Love" is a great song. I don't see how you can say he sounds sincere on "Oh Yoko!", which is goofy as all get out and call "Oh My Love" pop nonsense, McCartney-ian even. "Oh Yoko!" just seems outta place on the album. "How?" is much better than anything on "Ram". ...much better. I just checked on allmusic.com and they gave "Ram" 5 stars, but went on to call it nothing more than a "pleasurable diversion. " "Heart of the Country" is a good song. Paul was good at writing simple, sincere, nice love songs. He really lost it when he tried to go all Tin Pan Alley and such.

    John Lennon - Imagine

Yeah, Imagine is a really good album. I was a big Beatles freak back in the early 90s, like when I was in 6th-8th grade. Lennon was my favorite cause he was edgy. My first Lennon solo album was the great Plastic Ono Band, which is still his best work, but Imagine is a close second. Every song on it is killer, except "Oh Yoko!", which is at the end of the album and easy enough to not listen to. Of all the other songs on the CD, I think the titular track is my least favorite, if only because it's been overplayed over the years. "How Do You Sleep at Nite?" is a great "Fuck You" song. It made me really hate Paul McCartney when I was younger. His crappy solo catalog didn't do him any favors, though McCartney is a really good CD. Anyway, if I had to rate the songs (because I'm actually listening to the CD now, inspired by the thread), I'd do so as follows: 1. "Jealous Guy" 2. "How Do You Sleep at Nite?" 3. "Oh My Love" 4. "Gimmie Some Truth" 5. "I Don't Wanna be a Soldier" 6. "How?" 7. "Crippled Inside" 8. "It's So Hard" 9. "Imagine" 15. "Oh Yoko!"

So uh...the Twins bullpen has blown two saves in two nites against the 'Stros. First blown saves for the Twinkies this season. Wandy Rodriguez continues to "smoke and mirrors" his way to a respectable year.

Yeah, but he's got....CHARISMA~! If he pitched every game like it was Game 5 against the Cards or Game 7 against the Sox, he would win the Cy Young ever year. I don't think he's reached his full potential, regardless of what the statistics say. And besides, he's a sparkplug.

Hey, when the 'Stros go on their run, there's gonna be only one man to thank, and that man is Brandon Backe. God, I miss Backe. He let me and my brother give him bunny ears.
