If they had Pujols, they'd be winning 25-20. Mark Mulder's having a bad year.

I hate fantasy baseball. 'Stros are down 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth and Joe Nathan comes in. I have Nathan on my fantasy team. He strikes out Mike Lamb, Morgan Ensberg (also on my fantasy team), and, then, of course, Preston Wilson hits a fuckin' homerun off him to tie the game, which the 'Stros came back to blow in the bottom of the inning.

I know, I know. Yeesh. Everybody in Texas is clamoring to get Jason Hirsh to the major leagues. He's been "the next big thing" ever since last year. However, the Astros aren't likely to even give him a cup of coffee until maybe next year, more likely 2008. I hate how we move along pitchers so slowly. Hirsh is going on 25 and he's just now this season in AAA, when he's been hyped as major-league ready for the last 2 or so years. He's got good K/BB ratio. He's got a good WHIP. Hell, he's got a .300 OBP! Unfortunately, the Astros seem to have an ultra-crowded rotation, especially now with Clemens coming back and Backe about to be Backe. I've missed Backe. Go 'Stros.

I just liked it cuz it was an ugly black woman takin' a poop. Gah... Sorry I'm not in the "Bad Album Cover" newsgroup.

There's a Pitchfork list of bad covers? I'm...out of the loop. Edit: After looking at the Pitchfork list, I did not see Millie Jackson's "Back to the Shit" anywhere on it. In fact, I had never seen it before I saw it the first time and am not aware of who Millie Jackson is.

Did he hit a clutch 400 ft. homerun to put the Yanks on top? ...What? It could've happened...

I see that Henry Blanco decided to become a power hitter...

What about the horrible early Pantera covers? If those are unavailable, I vote for this one:

Guitars are so 1990s. I play a Kona banjo. When I do play guitar, I either play a nameless Mexican acoustic that I got at a flea market or my black Ibanez EX170 which I bought for $100 when I was 15 and was into...bands that I'm ashamed that I was in to. I bought it from Josh Dupre who used to be in Deadboy and the Elephantmen with Dax Riggs who used to be in Acid Bath, who are supposedly getting back together, but that's a whole 'nother thread. Yeah, I'm good buddies with Josh Dupre's brother. My amplifier is a Crate halfstack and I have some multi-effects pedal, the brand of which escapes me. I haven't plugged in in ages.

I humbly submit the cover of the new Keane CD for consideration in the "shittest album covers in recent memory".

The only 2 reasons I watch non-Astro related Cubs games is to hear Len and Bob diplomatically say that their team blows and to see the celebrities get drunk and sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". I think Jeremy Piven called somebody a bitch. Chris Burke is money, baby.

LOL2006~! Not till the end of July, my friend. Not till the end of July. By then the 'Stros will be in first, Pujols will be out still, and the Cubs will still be completely useless.
-
So, I take it Prior's return start isn't going as planned? Well, there's always Wade Miller...if he ever comes back. How much longer till the Cubs pine for that fireballer Glendon Rusch to hurry up and get healthy again?

Any channel would be good, as long as Scooter gets to come along. I don't think I can go a postseason without Scooter telling me how a curveball works.

It's by M. Ward on the fantastic album Transfigurations of Vincent. It's like a complete 180 from David Bowie's version. It's all hushed and folky and gravelly voiced. I like it more than the original, but meh. Built to Spill: 1. Keep it Like a Secret 2. Perfect from Now On 3. Ancient Melodies of the Future 4. There's Nothing Wrong With Love 5. You In Reverse (It just doesn't move me.)

So, what's wrong with Jake Peavy? Are his ribs still hurt from the Padres' celebrating winning the division last season? He's still striking people out, but he's just...I dunno...not pitching bad, but he's giving up runs at an unPeavy-like rate.

You'd think there'd be some American League team that would wanna look in to getting Daryl Ward for a DH role. Dude's got some pop. He's less injury prone than Frank Thomas, too. He's had 13 hits this season. 4 doubles, 4 HR. He's gotten some pretty clutch hits, too.

Welp, the Astros just got schooled by the...I can't even say it. But anyway, we lost 7-2. Scott Elarton is now 2-8. He's won 2 of the Royals 8 road wins. One at Yankee stadium and one at Minute Maid Park, two of the hardest places to win for road teams. Oh well, I always liked Elarton when he pitched for the 'Stros. But we damn better take 2 outta 3....

Hey...I really dug that one Elbow CD that came out like...the one before the last one. As far as British bands go, I really like that band Clearlake. They're good. Yeah.

I was only watching to see how bad Rusch could do. Once they put in Guzman, I started doing something else, but I come back to see that he's pitched like...3 innings, struck out 6 and allowed one run. Honestly, is there any reason that Glendon Rusch started this game? Has he had a good game this season? Why is Jerome Williams in AAA but Rusch is on the main roster? Was Rusch that much better of an option? I'm not a Cubs fan, but I'm starting to dislike Dusty Baker, too.
-
After watching 1+ innings of the Cubs/Tigers game, I'm convinced that Glendon Rusch is the worst pitcher in baseball. Yes, even worse than Chris Reitsma.
-
I never said I wanted an easier schedule. I just noted after the Royals, we're going to have at least one game with an extremely, extremely tough pitcher and then two series on the road with the two best teams in the AL followed by a series in Arlington at the bandbox with the Rangers. Yeesh...the Mutts win a few games and you get to be 10 feet tall and mouthy.
-
That's what I'm worried about. Shit, the Astros have a really tough week ahead...after the Kansas City series, of course. First, it's the Twins (luckily no Johan...and maybe Liriano will catch a cold or something.) and then the ChiSox at home, the Tigers at home, and the Rangers at home. Good grief.

I don't hate Keane. Hating Keane would be like hating bread. Keane is good for Sandra Bullock movies and stuff, but it's just kinda...there.
