That Bonds fellow isn't on the east coast either, but he gets quite a share of their attention, doesn't he? Bonds? ...I'm...not familiar with that name. Is he any good? Is he a power hitter or does he do mainly line drives?

Well, I want the Astros to win, too, but I mean...the guy has kids and all. If he's only out two weeks, I'll be happy, but I'd hate to see him out all year.

It's not his "will he, won't he" BS. It's ESPN and the sportswriters. However, they won't talk about him anymore because he's not going to be playing on the East Coast.

What makes Coffey nervous? ...Astros hitters. Seriously, if Freel didn't make that ridiculous catch...and Kearns before him, we woulda took that one. Preston Wilson grounding out on one pitch was horrible. And how can you be happy that Pujols is out? He's classy.

'Stros are in danger of losing their 3rd in a row. Pettitte's having a shitty year, but, alas! there is good news: 1. The Cardinals GM released a statement saying that it's "very likely" that Pujols is headed to the DL. Tony LaRussa said that Pujols will be out at least 2 weeks, and he's hopeful that he won't be out for longer. I'm not glad that Pujols is hurt, because despite the fact that he kills the Astros and the other Central Division teams, he's a hell of a ballplayer and a classy guy. 2. The Cubbies are coming! The Cubbies are coming! Sweep! Sweep! SWEEEEEEEP!!!11!!!!11!! LOL2006!!!!!!!

Your 5 favorite songs by ______

Pshaw. This is a totally different thing. It's "Your Five Favorite", but in an exciting new context. A context wherein some person gives you rigid guidelines to follow when outlining your favorite five. Glory be to the visionaries!

...or perhaps Jim Riggleman? Best manager the Cubs ever had.

And man, oh man, do Astros fans thank them for that. Yeah, but it's weird how well the Cubs play against the Cardinals. It's kinda like how usually the Pirates suck against everybody, but they always play the Astros really hard. Or like how all the shitty teams in the NL lie down for the Cardinals and play the Cubs hard That's presuming that a team with Pujols, Rolen, Carpenter, Isringhausen, and SOOOOOO~! Taguchi is on the same level as a team with Neifi Perez, John Mabry, Glendon Rusch, and Tony Womack... It's not that they play the Cardinals weak or the Cubs hard...it's just that...it's the Cardinals...and...the...Cubs.

In Astros news that nobody outside of Houston cares about, Mike "Send em to the" Gallo got sent down to AAA this morning, and the Astros have called up Chris Sampson, a converted shortstop who has gone 7-1 with 7 walks and 35 strikeouts in 65 innings at our AAA club this season, he's also hitting .522 in 23 at bats. However, he's just holding a place until Clemens comes back on the 22nd. Either way, he's gotta be better than Gallo.

    Brokeback By The Bell...

That gives me an idea... Is that idea sodomy? I think you could even make male on male sodomy more gay if you played that music in the background.

    Thom Yorke - The Eraser

I thought it was nice, if inoffensive. It's good background music...nothing like Kid A, where it almost was background music for a second, but then had something jump out at you from nowhere. This is just kinda there. I still like Thom's voice.

An interesting note on the Clemens contract...he's actually signing two contracts with the Astros-one, a minor league deal worth about 3,000,000 dollars so that he can spend the next 22 days working in the Astros three minor league affiliates. He had to sign a minor league deal because otherwsie the Astros would have had to put him on waivers...and that woulda lead to about 29 other teams claiming him. After his minor league deal is up on the 21st, he has a major league deal in place for June 22nd until the end of the season. The full season deal is for $22, 000,000,022, and of that much, he'll make about $12.4 million, so assuming he makes 20 starts, that's about $600,000 a start....good money if you can find it. And I also find it amusing that Clemens is number 22, he's making 22 million 22 dollars and he's starting on June 22nd.

Meh, well they still have Zito and Haren and Joe Blanton. Huston Street's not doing too well, though. It's a bad year for closers.

I still think Oakland's gonna take the West. The Rangers pitching isn't all that great and once the A's get all their injured guys back, I pick them to be on top, but yeah...I doubt anybody from the West makes it outta the first round. The Central and East are just too strong.

Yeah, I didn't get to see those. This is the first time I've actually seen him start. Still, he walks way too many people. And, on another note, man...the Angels suck this year, huh?

Yeah, well he recovered well enough. What's his pitch count up to? Maybe he can at least finish it out. Edit: Nevermind. He pitched really well, though. Once he gets a little better control....yeesh.

Yeah, and he was looking really good, too. I think he got rattled by it and threw that wild pitch.

    Brokeback By The Bell...

BrokeJack Palance was, indeed, hilarious. I think it helps because Back to the Future and City Slickers were better movies than Saved by the Bell was a show.

I will just say that Francisco Liriano looks great. I'm glad that I added him to my fantasy team. I hope that he can keep getting ahead of hitters and finishing them off, so that he can throw a complete game...and keep an extremely low WHIP.

    Brokeback By The Bell...

As far as Brokeback Mountain parodies go, I'd put that one way below Brokeback to the Future, but way above Brokeback Fiction. I think if you put that music on top of something, you can make anything seem gay.

    What would be your SuperGroup?

That's a group, actually...a duo is two people. I would...select... Thom Yoke on vocals Glen Kotche on drums Doug Martsch on guitar The bass player from T.V. on the Radio on bass Sufjan stevens on guitar/banjo/various other things That would be a great trio.

The Astros aren't a mediocre team without Clemens. They're just historically a better second half team. I really think even without Clemens that would have proved itself to be the case.

It is now official. Clemens is officially an Astro. He'll make the tour of our minor league affilliates to get back in shape before making his first start...June 22 at home against Minnesota. Well, I'm happy...if no one else is.
