Did Cruz Jr. play tonite? Because apparently now I'm hearing that Jose Sr. has two sons with the same name and it's the non-Dodger Jose Cruz that's missing.

I just heard some disturbing news on the local station down here. Apparently, Jose Cruz Jr., son of Astros legend Jose Cruz and Dodgers outfielder, is missing. They said that his car was found on fire and he wasn't in it and now he's missing. Anybody else heard anything about this?

Well, Pitchforkmedia is just heaping accolades on it, which pretty much means that it's boring and sounds like background music.

The 'Stros hang on to stay above .500. I'm glad Charlie Manuel isn't managing the team. We're not happy staying at .500, dammit!

And just when it looked like another humdrum Astros loss, we get 5 runs in the top of the 7th against the Cards. 6-3, 'Stros, now...under no circumstance whatsoever, do not pitch to Pujols with runners on base. Shit, if the bases are loaded and he comes up, pull a Bob Brenly and walk in a run. Pujols will not pass Marquis Grissom tonite!

It's not like Roger initiates it. He just reacts to everybody else. At the end of the last three or so seasons everybody speculated about whether Roger would come back or not. They built it up, he just decided to play em like a damn fiddle. It's not his fault that ESPN is stupid.

Edit: After just hearing Richard Justice on ESPN talk about the Clemens thing, he said that the only reason Clemens hasn't already signed with Houston is because his son, who plays for our single A affiliate, was on the DL for a couple weeks. He just came off of it, so now Roger's signed so he can make a couple rehab starts with his son before pitching again for the Astros. It was said that Clemens will probably need about a week and a half to get himself ready to pitch, which, by my crude estimation, would put his first start on June 8th 2006...on ESPN at home against...The Cubs.

I don't do drugs...and never have, but if I were to smoke dope, I'd smoke dope while listenting to either Bitches Brew by Miles Davis...or something by Tortoise. Or Loveless by My Bloody Valentine, but I listen to that when I'm not smoking dope, so meh.

About the Clemens stuff-Color me not surprised. Actually, a lot of 'Stros fans think that a deal was really done earlier last week, like last Monday...seeing that he started working out at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. I wouldn't doubt that a deal's done and they're just holding back on it so they can do a press conference or whatever sometime later in the week. The only thing that I find odd is that it's for 3 months...I would've figured 4 months. Hopefully 4 months and he starts this weekend. The Juicebox would be rockin! I always thought Al Kaline was regarded as a pretty better than average player...and a decent manager. Edit: I just saw on the Astros webpage, they have an article saying in very...weird language (which leads me to believe that it's bullploop and he really did sign) that Roger has not signed with the Astros yet. However, they also have a quote from Rangers GM Tom Hicks that he got a call Friday from Roger's agents saying that Roger would not be pitching for the Rangers this season and that the Rangers weren't the only ones that were going to get that phone call and that "family played a large role in his decision." Expect a news conference on ESPN. Hopefully the Giants have a late game tonite, so they don't cut away from the Clemens conference to cover Bonds at-bats.

It's all about forms and universals and archetypes. That's probably no help whatsoever.

I bought The Time Traveller's Wife, but haven't read it yet. I heard it was good, but the structure of the novel looked odd.

The announcers were saying it was probably due to the heat in St. Louis. It was around 90 degrees. But yeah, Pujols jacked it. And I didn't see the Callison family in attendence. Who's up next on the list for Fat Albert? Oh well, at least Carp's going on the DL, but with Pettitte struggling and how good Anthony Reyes supposedly is, it might be a tough day tomorrow.

Ah....well on ESPN and BBTN, for the first couple months of the season they were all saying Clemens goes back to either the Yanks or the Sox, but now they're not saying that anymore. Anyway, about the Astros' funk, they've always sucked in May...It's just what they do. Kinda like how the Cubs usually suck from April until September. It's just how they roll, but, yeah...Clemens comes back and starts the first series after the All-Star break.

Apparently you've been watching ESPN...but actually, from what I've heard on ESPN, they've stopped talking about Clemens in conjunction with the Great East and are pretty much resigned to him going to the Astros or retirement. I think he's comfortable with the Astros management and players and he knows that they're a second half team.

I doubt that. Everybody thinks Clemens is about the money. Clemens could friggin' buy Portugal if he wanted to. He wants to play in the park that's 20 minutes from his house where in September, he can be covered at third by his son.

That was a perfect throw from Willie, too. Oh well, God help us if we lose tomorrow. I still think Clemens will come to us, to respond to that. If he doesn't, I don't think he pitches. We've always sucked in May, so bring on June!

I think Lidge was wild mainly cuz Ausmus isn't catching. He only really works ever with Ausmus. Hopefully he can get through the top of the order with Munson behind the plate...
