    MLB: Week 1 (4/2-4/9)

Being a native Houstonian, and this being my first post in the baseball thread, I feel qualified to play expert. I wouldn't say that there's been anything bad going on with the Astros pitching. In the first game against the Marlins, Roy O looked phemonenomanomanomanal. The second game, Pettitte got slapped around a good bit, but I deduce that's because he got a late start in spring training, so that was basically like his third spring start, and the Marlins are playing a bunch of rooks, so there's not really a book on em yet, and Joe Girardi was Pettitte's old catcher during the Yank-me days. In Game 3, Wandy Rodriguez looked about as good as he ever does. Brandon Backe looked alot sharper last nite than he has all spring (3 hits, 1ER, 6IP) which is crucial until Clemens comes back. Tonite, Roy looked less than stellar, but meh...And we've got this rookie pitcher, Taylor Buchholz, that's been freakin' great all spring and when he pitched last nite. He looks like he's gonna make the Billy Wagner trade look really good for Houston...judging by his spring work and his 3 innings last nite, but his first start is on Tuesday against San Fran, so that'll be interesting. What's really good for us 'Stros fans is Berkman and Wilson hitting 3 HRs each in three games and Berkman having back to back to back three RBI nights. Berkman, Ensberg, Wilson, and Lane in a row looks like it might have potential to turn around Houston's offensive woes. At least we remain hopeful. And that is the weekly state of the Astros address, since...nobody talks about the Astros.
  2. Well, get some money, man. I sold the 48 masters, so I have what's left if you (when you get some money) or anyone else is interested.
  3. So, I understand that you people enjoy wrestling, so I figured this was the place to advertise. Anyhow, I have....a rather sizeable collection of wrestling tapes-some commercial, some videotaped (all good quality)-of pretty much every major World promotion. I have a bunch of WWF/WWE stuff....pay-per-views dating from the early 80s to like...two years ago...pretty much all the big events. I also have most Raws and Smackdown!s from about late 2001-mid 2003 or so. Also, I have many, many WCW tapes...dating back to the NWA days....some late 80s NWA T.V. and pay-per-views ranging up to the later days. Also, I have some Japanese stuff and Indy stuff. I have comp tapes....uh...bootlegs...various things. I'd say I have between 300 and 400 tapes. I haven't cataloged all of them, because...there's alot of 'em, but, I'm just trying to gauge interest on whether or not anyone would be interested in purchasing the whole bulk set or a large portion of it for a lump sum. I really don't wanna try to sell them off individually because there's just so many of them, so if anyone's interested...uh...lemme know. And if anyone's looking to see if I have anything in particular, ask and I'll check. I'll try to get some pictures up just so everyone that might be interested can see the...girth of my collection. Also, if anyone from the Houston, TX area is interested, that would be great because I'm a Houstonian and if I could work something out with someone in the area that would save on shipping and what-not. Anyhow, if anybody's interested, lemme know. And since it's always good to close out sales pitches on a big note, I'll reiterate...About 300-400 wrestling VHS tapes, various pay-per-views and TVs from WWE/WWF, WCW/NWA, NJPW, AJPW, the first ROH tape, some other American indies...a few shoot interviews...uh...some of the WWF promotional TV stuff (the two WWF "The Weakest Link" episodes) and various other wrestling events for sale...looking to sell in bulk for one price (make me a legitimate offer).
  4. Meh, I've got the 48 Masters that I have up on Ebay. Right now, they're at $57 or so. I'm just hoping that they sell before I get arrested by Vince McMahon and his new Ebay Gestapo. In other news, I refuse to do business with PayPal due to my religious preference.
  5. I'm like Hank Hill at the Strickland Propane "Grill-stravaganza". Near the end of the week, fifteen minutes before closing, somebody's going to call me and wanna buy 158 propane tanks to heat the swimming pool down at the trailer park, but that will be too bad, as I don't have any propane tanks, only wrestling videos.
  6. Arnie, my oldest and dearest friend, how could you say such hurtful things? Remember how I saved your bacon in Nineteen Aught Seven. I was waiting for you to tell me what tapes you wanted. I thought we had a potential deal. If you're still buying, I'm still selling. I just want people to like me.
  7. You non-wanting to buy my wrestling tape assbutts have forced me to resort to eBay. I've put the DVDs and video games up there in one lot. The minimum bid is $.99. One guy has bid. If you're interested, go bid. I bid you to bid. eBay Auction

The "What Are You Reading Right Now" Thread

Right now, I am reading One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, alternately with The Cell by Stephen King. They're both wonderful, but for different reasons. I'll go out on a limb and say that Garcia Marquez is the finest writer of fiction ever.
  9. Yeah, sure. $5 plus shipping...as long as you don't live in like...Zimbabwe or Tanzania or something. Just lemme know what you want.
  10. Well, to quote Seneca who was quoting Epicurius..."Honesta res est laeta pauperatas." So, Arnie's got interest in two. Anyone wanna do something about the other 1812820912902138120398? I thought after I posted pictures of monkeys, everybody would be all over it.
  11. I used to watch lots of Inspector Gadget cartoons. Didn't he get locked into safes? Because if he didn't that would discredit my memory, and if my memories are wrong, that could mean that I've been subjected to some like...brain voodoo like in "Logan's Run". Do you people think I'm some idiot savant? Like I just spout out weird things appropos of nothing? I mean...do any of you even have casual interest in my tape collection or do I hold the same fascination for people that Danny Bonaduce holds? Because I'm not Danny freakin' Bonaduce! ...Buy my stuff!
  12. I only do softcore, meaning that I'll grope but not insert.
  13. I fear that I shall never get rid of my wrestling tapes. Perhaps I will have to eat them in the lean years that are sure to follow my graduation of college this year with a degree in English Literature...such a useless degree. At least it's not Philosophy. So, "Duke", which thread do you want me to post in? It's an uh...all-request post-a-thon.
  14. No, that was Robert Rankin. I'm also not the author of A Big Ugly Man Came Up and Tied His Horse to Me, Funny Boy Meets the Airsick Alien From Andromeda or The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck. I did, however, pen a one-act play entitled "A Tale of Herpes: The Dog That Would Not Heel" that contained neither characters nor plot. It was cancelled after three performances.
  15. Ah, my dear ex-puppy, my humor is not unintentional, which is to say that it's intentional, which is to say that I'm in full control of my mental facilities.
  16. I am very sorry to hear that Duke the Dog has departed from this Earth. In memoriam, I will be running a special on my tape collection. The special isn't really that much of a special, in that I'm not uh...reducing prices or offering anything for free, but if you buy my tapes, it'll make me feel special. Come on, I know that somebody has to want at least one of my tapes. P.S.-I'm neither joking nor a gimmick. Somebody buy my shiznit, yo!
  17. I reckon there's alot of people on here seeing as how there's a pay-per-view on tonite, so I thought I'd further push my wrestling collection, which is still for sale. And, to prove the validity of said collection, here's pictures of me and some monkeys: Needless to say, that's not all of my collection, but that's representative of the whole. There's an entire bookshelf full of tapes, two other shelves and a very large trunk. In addition, there's the DVDs and video games and the t-shirts modeled by the monkeys. Also, I'm in one of the pictures wearing an Astros hat, which proves that these are my stuff, because, as I've said, I'm from the Houston area and no one outside of Houston roots for the Astros. Now, are there any takers (under or over)?
  18. No, Arnold, this isn't a parody. I'm really trying to sell my stuff. I'll have pictures later today. And when I do, I expect somebody to buy my stuff. And by "Expect", I mean "Hope".

Apparently my digital camera no longer works or has become lost somehow, so I don't have pictures to verify yet, but if someone would like to buy my stuff for a couple or few hundred bucks, he/she can send me the money, and I'll use some of it to buy a digital camera and take pictures of my collection and post those pictures here so he/she can see that I am, in fact, legit. Someone make me an offer, so I can buy a 27-game mini season ticket plan to see the Astros.
  20. So, this Irish guy walks into a bar with a steering wheel attatched to his crotch. The bartender goes, "Hey! You know you got a steering wheel on your crotch?!!?!?!?" The Irish guy goes, "Yes, I know! It's driving me nuts!!!!" Yeah, I'm a laugh riot. If somebody buys my tapes, I'll tell you all a joke about three lengths of rope.
  21. I'm as honest as the day is long, and tiwce as attractive. Yeah, I'm working on getting pictures. They're forthcoming...for anyone that's interested. Are people less leery of giving someone with 4 posts $300 than someone with 3 posts?
  22. Arnie, I took an immediate shine to you. Maybe it's because of your "old school" charm. Therefore, I am willing to accept your bid of $1.00, but only if you'll also include an additional $299 to cover shipping costs and...assorted labor.
  23. O.k., since no one has yet bitten at my first offer, I will now revise it in a Ron Popeil-like fashion. In addition to the fore-mentioned 300 or so wrestling tapes showcasing the best and worst of the last twenty years from every major world promotion, I'm adding my complete collection of wrestling t-shirts-which includes an orange Tazz "Master of the Suplex" WWF shirt, a Booker T shirt from 2002, an original LWO shirt...for you Latinos, and a super old late 80s/early 90s WWF Superstars shirt with the Nasty Boys, the Bushwackers, Kerry Von Erich, and Hulk Hogan. Also included is a child-size black sweatshirt with the same design as the just prior mentioned t-shirt. Also, and here's where it gets good, I'm willing to include my wrestling DVD and video game collection. This includes The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection, a three disc set including The Rock-The People's Champion, Hell Yeah-Stone Cold's Saga Continues, and Mick Foley's Hard Knocks and Cheap Pops. Ah, but there's more! Other DVD titles Rey Mysterio-619, Hulk Still Rules, Bloodbath-Steel Cage Matches, ECW Deep Impact, Summerslam 2000, Wrestlemania 15, Summerslam 2001, No Mercy 2001, and a 5-disc set called This is Ultimate Wrestling including early footage of Steve Austin, Cactus Jack, Jeff Jarrett, and others when they were in...USWA, I think it was. On top of that, I'm willing to include my wrestling video games-Here Comes the Pain, Legends of Wrestling II, Def Jam Vendetta, and WWF No Mercy for N64. Also, I'm including my Wrestlemania 17 program, which was gotten at the event. So, to summarize: 300-378 video tapes (some recorded, some commercial) from all major promotions for the last 25 or so years 17 Wrestling DVDs 4 Wrestling Video Games 1 Wrestling Program 3 Wrestling shirts 1 Wrestling Children's sweater I'm not looking to get rich. I'm just looking to supplement my moderate income slightly in order to continue living my semi-extravagant lifestyle. I'm asking somewhere around $250-$300 plus shipping for everything. Once again, I live in the Houston area, so if you live in Houston or near the area, we could arrange somewhere to meet up so as to avoid the shipping issue. If nobody wants to buy my stuff, I guess I'll just...keep it for another 50 years, let it appreciate in value and sell it for millions. If you're interested, email me at [email protected] or reply here. Here's a partial list of my collection. I haven't gotten around to inputting all of my WWF-related tapes yet, but here's what I have not including those...and I have an assload of those. Wrestling Collection T-shirts 1. Orange Tazz “Master of the Suplex” 2. Black Booker T “Spinarooni” 3. WWF Superstars 4. WWF Superstars child sweater DVDs: 1. The Rock-“The People’s Champ” 2. Stone Cold Steve Austin-“Hell Yeah” 3.
