    JoeDirt's old school match thread

I don't think it killed the whole thing, buried everyone I'll buy. And yes, that one.

    NBA Playoffs

LOL @ Ben Wallace pushing Reggie's last shot back and ending the Pacer's season twice. Reggie's career is over like Mike, pick one: Tyson, Jordan, Jackson...

I think Steve Austin would be a good color commentator.

    Matt responds to Edge/Lita segment

If Matt just said this in his forum, I don't have a problem with it. And you guys act like he told you to read it. If you got to his forum, you obviously aren't going there for intelligent wrestling discussion, you're going there to see him bitch. I guarantee 99.999% of you didn't even know his forum existed until this problem was brought to the public forum. I don't care if he bitches or not, it's his problems. I don't see how his venting is hurting you, but whatever.

Cause Sac. Flies. They count against your OBP, but they don't count in your batting average. Over a whole season most hitters wont have that many sac flies for this to remain, but it has happened before.

    This week in Baseball

There's a law that both players have to play at the same time? Well, because Giambi HAS to get these ABS in to see if he can still hit, which he hasn't shown, Womack, whos hitting over .300 on the trip has to sit. and because Giambi can't play D for his life, he HAS to DH, which means Bernie has to play center. Here's a crazy thought. Since Matsui is a better defender than Bernie, they could play MATSUI in center, and move Bernie to left. Of course, these are also the same minds who thought Jeter was a better shortstop than Alex Rodriguez. Thats what I'm wondering. How hard can it be to move from CF to LF? And actually, Bernie shouldn't even BE playing tonight, hes already left runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs TWICE. Sele has six walks, and we have one damn run. On the bright side, Wang looks teriffic again so far.

    All-Star Voting has started

You might want to check Izzy's stats for relievers (One earned run this season). Not to mention Mulder is 5-1 with a 3.40 era, and Matt Morris is 3-0 with a 2.9 era...

    Best match finishes ever

For example, two of the best ever The Juvi driver off the top rope at Spring Stampede 1999 was incredible ill. Probably my favorite one. Dean Malenko DDT on Scotty at Backlash 2000

    Sports Misconceptions

I don't think so. Koufax had a four year run where he was a fantastic pitcher. Now, if you set your standards specifically as a pitcher's four best consecutive years, the answer might be Koufax. But that is the only way he ranks as the very best. Koufax's best ERA+ (ERA, adjusted for park and the league average) was 190. That is very, very good. But what about Walter Johnson, who went 69-19 over two years with ERA+'s of 240 and 259? (As an aside, here is another misconception. The Senators had some very good years with Johnson, even if they fell short of the pennant until 1924.) Pedro Martinez had a four year run where he produced ERA+'s of 221, 160, 245 and 285, although Koufax pitched many more innings. There are just two many pitchers with similar peak quality who smoke Koufax in career numbers. Not to say Koufax was not a great pitcher, but he is not the best. He was legitimately outstanding during his peak. One last one, what do you think of ESPN listing Roger Clemens as the greatest pitcher alive. I think that's wrong, but where does Roger Clemens rank in your all-time list? And amongst pitchers still living?

    Sports Misconceptions

Robinson is the greatest boxer ever. And a question, not a misconception, is Sandy Koufax the greatest pitcher ever?

    Could Rey Mysterio...

Rey can't be much smaller than Shawn Michaels. I mean, he's shorter, but they probably way about the same. Rey is probably one of the greatest workers ever, has a lot of in ring charisma and has a good fanbase. In the WWE world where HOSSES~~~~~ are made to be seem superior, I'm not sure how the casual fan will take to it. But I would love to see it.

    Steve Nash Wins MVP

Sources: Nash beats out Shaq as league MVP Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash will be awarded the NBA's Most Valuable Player on Sunday, ESPN.com's Marc Stein has learned. Marc Stein ESPN.com - Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash will be awarded the NBA's Most Valuable Player on Sunday, ESPN.com's Marc Stein has learned. The official announcement will come Sunday at halftime of ABC's 3 p.m. ET playoff game. O'Neal, three times an NBA Finals MVP, has won the regular-season MVP trophy just once in his 13 seasons. Apparently tipping this vote in Nash's favor was the Suns' 33-game improvement -- from 29 wins to a league-leading 62 wins -- after signing Nash away from the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason. Nash's previous best MVP showing was 14th place in 2002. With Nash flanked by the athletic finishing of fellow All-Stars Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion, Phoenix became just the second team in NBA annals to win at least 60 games after a 50-loss season. The first? The Boston Celtics in Larry Bird's rookie season of 1979-80. But Nash is defying history to beat out O'Neal, and not simply because he had only one scholarship offer from a Division I university -- Santa Clara -- as a slight Canadian teen-ager in British Columbia. Allen Iverson, the NBA's 2001 MVP as a shooting guard, is the only player shorter than 6-foot-6 in the past four decades to win the award. Nash also becomes the first MVP since Portland's Bill Walton in 1978 to average less than 20 points per game. His 15.5-point scoring average for the Suns is the third-lowest all-time for an MVP, ahead of only Washington's Wes Unseld (13.8 ppg in 1969) and Boston's Bill Russell (14.1 ppg in 1965). Nash, though, did lead the league in assists (11.5 apg) by a wide margin for a runaway Suns team that averaged a league-leading 110 points per game. Phoenix swept Memphis 4-0 in a first-round series and awaits the Dallas-Houston winner in the second round, raising the possibility of an emotional series against the team he left last summer.

    Sports Misconceptions

The Bulls (1994-1995) weren't good without Jordan. In reality, the year after he left, the Bulls had the best record in the conference and almost made it to the NBA finals. Jordan won the title the first year he came back. The Bulls actually got eliminated in the semi finals to the Magic.
