  1. I'm not great with match ratings. I just know if I like a match and if I don't. I'll usually say the match was either "Terrible, Below Average, Average, Decent, Good, Very good, Great, excellent, Classic"

    Greatest Wrestling T-Shirt

The truth is most wrestling shirts are extremely corny and the only ones I'd wear outside are the nWo, a couple of the Rock ones, and Austin's first one. Angle's isn't bad either. And it's not because "I'm ashamed" to be a wrestling fan, because I'll tell anyone Wrestling > "Fill in the blank" but the shirts are just really lame.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Somethings I know are true Bret Hart was close to going to WCW in 1992. He asked Vince McMahon for his release, but his contract says he has to ask for a release before a specific date of the year, if he doesn't, he won't be released. It was after that date, so there it was. WWF From April through December was the quickest collapse any company has ever faced until WCW's run towards ending This is from David Meltzer...
  4. I think Scott started deteriorating around 1997, but 89-94 was his real PRIME, and he was probably the blueprint of what workers should be to me. He had a wide range of moves, was intense, knew psychology of matches, and almost none of the Steiners matches then were less than ***. Him and Rick carried not so great teams to great matches, and had classics with great workers. Was the best suplex machine in wrestling at that time, and maybe all-time. I'd rank him with the top workers from the era with Hennig, Hart, Savage and so on... I wouldn't call him the best, because not being singles competitor takes more I think then Tag Team, but his displays for that 5 year span is unmatched by any tag team wrestler I can think of. What's your takes on Scott Steiner then? Edit: Worker not Workers...sorry about that

Scott Steiner in his prime a top 5 workers?

I'm not thinking of WWF Vader, I'm thinking of 1990 - 1994 Vader when he was the biggest monster in the business. He was one of my favorites for sometime cause he was so unstoppable. And yes, he was a great, great worker/performer, but I think Steiner was just better. Comparing Steiner to a lot of wrestler then is going to be hard because he wrestled in tag teams so match quality, psychology and other entities that are contributed to making a great worker, isn't as noticable in a tag worker. But Scott Steiner's style of wrestling is my favorite kind. The high impact moves, fast paced, wide range of movesets and so on and so forth....

Vader? Eh... Great worker, but Steiner I feel was better. Same for Stan Hansen. Didn't watch most of the Japanese performers until after, really.

Really? I don't think many were on the level with Steiner in terms of in ring work back then. Who do you think was better and why?

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

I came across this, and thought it was dope, so I'll post it since it does relate to WCW http://s3.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=E8C7B059...E5DCC8F1F0946FF

Scott Steiner in his prime a top 5 workers?

Yes, agreed. I really didn't watch much of anything outside of North America until 1999, when I could watch highlights on the net. So I wont comment much on that.

Scott Steiner in his prime a top 5 workers?

I think his heel matches (at least in WCW) were fairly interesting Plus it was turning heel where his character really took off Mostly for the trainwreck aspect of it like, "I wonder if he's gonna snap a break a fan's face today", sort of situation. Similar to SS 1999 when he was walking around the ring looking for trouble, then smacking the fan in the head.

    The Old School questions thread

No, it was live. The only PPV's the WWF taped and aired later were No Holds Barred: The Match and SummerSlam 1992. -=Mike Didn't they tape WrestleMania 2, in the different locations and show them in the order they wanted?
  14. NEW YORK, Nov. 20 -- NBA Commissioner David Stern issued the following statement today: “The events at last night’s game were shocking, repulsive and inexcusable -- a humiliation for everyone associated with the NBA. This demonstrates why our players must not enter the stands whatever the provocation or poisonous behavior of people attending the games. Our investigation is ongoing and I expect it to be completed by tomorrow evening. The NBA has taken the following actions, effective immediately: 1. Indiana players Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O’Neal are suspended indefinitely, the length to be determined upon completion of the investigation. 2. Detroit player Ben Wallace is suspended indefinitely, the length to be determined upon completion of the investigation. 3. Review of rules and procedures relating to altercations and security have been undertaken so that fans can continue to attend our games unthreatened by events such as the ones that occurred last night.”

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

I don't have a list per say. I know that he defeated Shaghai Pierce (Mideon) in the first round of the TV Title tournament and then lost to Vinnie Vegas (Nash) in the semis. I also remember a match against Scotty Flamingo (Raven). I think he may have even won that match. Yeah I have that Robby V vs. Scotty Flamingo match on my computer. Rob did indeed win, and was pretty over.

    Bret Hart comments

I was listening to 102.1 The Edge this morning here in Toronto and they had Bret Hart as a guest promoting his upcoming play Aladdin at the Elgin theatre. Here are some highlights from his interview: -They started off the interview by telling him he was a great Canadian and Bret said one of the highlights of his career was being on the cover of a Pizza Pizza box. -He spoke a lot about his stroke and that no one knows for sure why he got a stroke but getting kicked in the head by Bill Goldberg and all his concussion problems because of it didn't help. -People come up to him all the time and tell him how great and strong he looks, and even Bret himself is surprised at how well he's recovered from the stroke. -But he said the wrestling part of him is gone and that the problem with today's wrestling is that it is too corporate and instead of letting the wrestlers write their own promos it's one person in the back who is writing them, all the promos sound the same. -Said he was the one who came up with his own gimmick, and from the start of the bell to the finish he came up with the match, too. -Said he was raised into wrestling and was selling programs at the age of 5, way before Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair entered wrestling. -Said when they offered him the play he wasn't sure if he would be ready for it but decided to do it because it was around Christmas and he liked the idea of working with kids. -Was #39 on the Greatest Canadians list and said he was very proud of that. -He talked a lot about protecting his opponent in the ring and not injuring any of his opponents, not a broken bone, or a broken nail, nothing. Talked about Vince McMahon and said in his career he is best known as the guy who punched Vince. Said he got two broken knuckles out of it but it was worth the injury. That's pretty much all I remember. But it was a great 15-minute interview. http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=6599&p=1

    Hollywood Blondes

As a collective unit Pillman I always saw as the leader of the tandem. After they broke up I thought Austin was the big bigger star. And WCW pushed him that way too. I remember him defeating Pillman on a Clash I believe soon after they broke up which Austin won, not dominately but decisively.
  18. Yeah that's a good one. I started liking Orton after that, changed quickly though. I started liking The Rock after the Ken Shamrock match at WM 14. Not really for the match but the skits and his selling after the match too. And I started giving Triple H credit as a good wrestler after the Foley retirement match in 2000.
