Ratings are really not that big a factor right now. And last year at this time, WWE was consistently in the 3.8-4.1 range, and WM XXI was one of the highest buyrated PPVs of all-time.

People are highly overrating the Rey loss. He wasn't buried in the least bit. That's just looking for something that isn't there. Everyone and their mother knows he's winning the world title this year, so all this "he's getting buried" shit is just the typical Smark nonsense... As for the PPV: It was a solid show, carried by the EXCELLENT Mainevent, with a decent enough undercard to be a worthwhile watch. I don't think I'd have Lashley job to JBL, but he's clearly not ready for a big push. He's not explosive as a Goldberg and he's nowhere near a Lesner in terms of wrestling, and he's not particularly good on the mic, and he's somewhat over, but not enough to justify pushing him to the moon right now. A feud with Finlay is a good decision, he should spend more time in the midcard before being elevated. Randy Orton winning wasn't the highlight of my night either, but I'm sure they're gonna try to swing this into a three-way some how. And the commentator's reaction was good to express the dissappointment in Orton winning not Rey losing necessarily. The whole night was about how Orton is an asshole, not how Rey is an idiot and a loser. Tazz and Cole stated he has to feel like he let the Guerrero family and himself down. How is that a burial? It's completely accurate. And Cole does mention that Orton cheated to win. I know alot of people had mixed reaction to the mainevent, but it was the match of the year to me so far (And yes I saw TNA's last PPV with the three-way), and the ending sequence was done superbly. The semi false-finish has me believing they'll have a rematch on Smack!down sometime before WM to set up for a Undertaker/Henry match. And extra thumbs up to them for not having Henry interfer or a Ref bump.

Tazz promises huge announcement, February 17, 2006. WWE returns to Long Island for the first time in almost one year this Saturday night. The Raw live event, which will be highlighted by a WWE championship match between John Cena and Edge (with Mick Foley as special referee), will also feature Smackdown announcer Tazz with a huge announcement. If you're in the Long Island area Saturday night, don't miss this Raw live event and Tazz's special announcement at the Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the coliseum box office. Coming out of retirement?

I know there's not a lot of Hip Hop fans around here, but Dilla is a legend to most people (Including me), and one of the best producers ever. He was really sick, so it's not surprising, just sad he died.
-
Good PPV, loved the ending.
-
So Tazz can compete in any one of these things, eh?
-
Sick as in had a disease. Last picture I saw of him, he was in a wheelchair and looked like he weighed 100 lbs.

Moving down the road February 6, 2006 The Road to WrestleMania continues as RAW rolls into Atlanta this week. http://www.wwe.com/content/media/to...e/29062/2081418 A tournament will be held to determine the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship, and it will begin Monday night on RAW. The opening round of The Road to WrestleMania Tournament, which will feature four matches, will be completed by the time RAW goes off the air. In first round action, Rob Van Dam will take on Carlito. Carlito aggravated RVD's knee injury on the Cabana back in June, which set Mr. Monday Night back another six months. Now that he's back, RVD not only has the WWE Championship on his mind, but also some revenge. Chris Masters, along with Carlito, was responsible for eliminating Kane from the New Year's Revolution Elimination Chamber. Then, last week the Big Red Machine was unable to break the Master Lock. Will Kane have better luck this week as he takes on Chris Masters in another first round matchup? The history between Ric Flair and Triple H is well-documented...and very personal. They have been the best of friends and the worst of enemies. And they will get to write another chapter to their rivalry in the first round of the tournament. Also in the first round, Shawn Michaels will take on Big Show. HBK already has a lot on his mind with Mr. McMahon, and now his son Shane. The Showstopper will need to focus all of his attention on Big Show if he hopes to advance in the tournament. Last week, Edge defeated John Cena by disqualification when Lita hit the Rated R Superstar with the WWE Championship while Cena had him set up for the F-U. While Edge won the match, the gold did not change hands, leaving the Rated R Superstar still a challenger. On top of all of this, Edge and Lita left the arena separately. How will all of this impact their relationship? Also last week, Shane McMahon struck again, nailing Shawn Michaels with a chair as Mr. McMahon looked on. How will HBK react to this latest setback in his standoff with the WWE Chairman? Plus, the tensions between Trish Stratus, Ashley and Mickie James continue to rise. How will Ashley and Trish react to Mickie’s actions during her celebration for the Women’s Champion last week? Tune into RAW Monday night at 9/8 CT on the USA Network to see what happens. The first round is scheduled to take place this Monday. Four matches have been announced so far. Those matches are as the followed: - Rob Van Dam vs. Carlito - Chris Masters vs. Kane - Ric Flair vs. Triple H - Shawn Michaels vs. The Big Show The winner of the tournament will go on to face the Champion at WrestleMania 22.

You see the problem with WM4 was, there was no real "great" match. Although Savage/Dibiase finals was good, considering. Just as a whole, the show was flat, which was assisted by the long duration. Without the tournament concept, the show is forgotten. Yep. WM 5 is better than WM 4. And what bad match is at WM 3?

Can't wait for Pillman, Hogan and AWA.

I actually thought that's where they were headed during Kurt Angle's "Anti-America" run.
-
Atleast they held serve (It was the night after a PPV, though). The test is the next couple of weeks.

Cena vs. Triple H in a Steel Cage match Right now, as the boo-birds are still out for Cena, I'd have him just be a face with a heel edge. No friends, no allies, and doesn't even really recognize the fans cheers (If there are any). He'd just play up to a "Bad Boy" type gimmick, none of that chain-gang stuff and just wrestle whoever (Face or Heel) on his road to WrestleMania. I don't think they want to make him full-fledged heel cause of merchandising. Triple H would just earn his title shot by beating Edge in a match for number one contendership on a RAW. Really, this is the only mainevent they have right now for RAW. Angle vs. Rey Misterio I wouldn't change a thing. Rey won the RR, Angle is the champion. Rey is over as hell. No reason not to go with this right now. No reason. Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Orton This would play up to Randy Orton's legend killer gimmick. Just have Orton start a program with Hogan, and have the basis around it being Orton's sick of these old guys coming back trying to get a "nostalgia" run at the expense of him. Vince Mcmahon vs. Shawn Michaels - NO DQ match Vince wins he does whatever he wants with Shawn Michaels contract. Shawn wins, he does whatever he wants with the contract. You know this is leading to a one on one contest. So just try to make it at violent and fast paced as possible. The Rock could be involved here since he said he can make an appearance, though no wrestle this year. The Undertaker (managed by Paul Heyman) vs. Chris Benoit This would be the Undertaker's real return to the darkside for his final big run. Him teaming up with Heyman would stem from him losing at NWO to Kurt Angle (not clean), and Heyman helping get back his fire and make sure his business is straight. His first feud would be with Chris Benoit. Edge vs. Mick Foley Pretty easy to do here. Just have Edge do everything in his power to really make the fans hate him. He's gonna really lose all sense of basic decency after losing the belt to Cena, leading up to a feud with Mic Foley Other matches Booker T. (US Champion) vs. Bobby Lashley MIB II Rob Van Dam vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair vs. Trevor Murdock vs. JBL vs. Matt Hardy Carlito and Masters vs. Big Show and Kane (If feasible, Shaq should make an appearance here) Trish vs. Melina Women's title MNM vs. Burchill and Regal Tag Team Titles Gregory Helms vs. Paul London (Obviously one or two of these matches would be on the pre-show)

Angle won with a roll up, and pulling the tights. Then the Undertaker came out, blew some stuff up (Ring, ring posts and what not), did the signature "I want the belt" signal and then left.

Interesting note from Meltzer's update The winner of tonight's Royal Rumble is not scheduled for a main event at Wrestlemania this year.

Shaq attack January 27, 2006 Last night at the AmericanAirlines Arena, RAW Superstar Carlito verbally abused Jason Williams after the Miami Heat suffered a disappointing 107-98 loss to the Phoenix Suns. While the cocky Superstar was berating Williams, Shaquille O'Neal walked up behind Carlito and smashed him with a chair. Check back here later today for video footage of the attack. www.wwe.com

WWE notes from Da Meltz on Figure Four Daily
MikeJordan23 replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Thanks for this. Henry possibly winning the belt is really...wow...I don't see where that can lead to anything good. -
I'm not 100% sure I should post this in the WWE folder, but, the mods can just move it if it doesn't belong. CW network to replace WB, UPN CBS, Warner Bros. announce plans for new network to debut in September. January 24, 2006: 11:31 AM EST NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - Warner Brothers and CBS Corp. announced plans Tuesday for the creation of a new broadcast television network, called CW, that would replace the WB and UPN networks in the fall of this year. The new broadcast network, to be called the CW Network, will draw on programming from both WB and UPN, including such shows as "Gilmore Girls" and "Everybody Hates Chris." Prime time programming with target the profitable 18-34 age group, officials of Warner and CBS said. http://money.cnn.com/2006/01/24/news/compa...dex.htm?cnn=yes

I agree. Any list that doesn't have Austin/Bret WM 13 in their top 10 is null and void to me.

"In yesterday’s Miami Herald featured an article regarding Royal Rumble press conference. In the article it noted that Rey Mysterio dedicated winning the match to Eddie Guerrero, and Triple H said in his promo, "'With respect to Rey Mysterio, I've actually never heard somebody dedicate a loss to somebody If you think that you're going to the Royal Rumble and that you're going to win, I've got news for you. I don't care if Eddie Guerrero reaches down out of the sky and helps you himself -- it's not going to happen.'' " Classy.
