Diamond Dallas Page added to LOW:SHOWDOWN!
Slickster replied to Use Your Illusion's topic in Video Games
I love how all the arenas are genericized WWE PPV arenas (WMX7, WMX) -
My favorite is Part IV (TFC) because it's got a lot of great Jason moments in it: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): the banana girl, the corkscrew, the projector, the doorway guy, and the 'falling down the machete' sequence that was cut in the UK.
-
In Part V, the New Wave chick was originally scripted to take a particularly painful deathblow: a machete to the crotch! They filmed this scene, but didn't even bother to show it to the MPAA because they knew it wouldn't pass. The kills in Part VII were HEAVILY edited, and that's also why Jason's in shadow for most of the film due to the extreme grotesqueness of his appearance in that film.

Goodfather's quick elimination was in 2001. Even then, he was in for at least 8 seconds, as he botched an Irish whip and got punched 4 times before a spit punch took him out.

I think the unofficial way of timing in ring tenures from when they step into the ring with both feet on the ground to when there elimainted with both feet touching. I agree with that line of thinking, as the buzzer is just the signal for the next guy to come to the ring, not an accurate counter of how long they were in there. If it were accurate, it would go off at EXACT 2:00 intervals, not at 2:03 or 3:27 as it has in the past. Plus, counting from the buzzer artificially inflates entrants' times. Which sounds funnier, the Warlord being in the Rumble for 2.08 seconds or 29 seconds (from his entrance)? Also, counting from the buzzer fails to accomodate for long entrances (like the Godfather's in 2002) or beatdowns on the outside (like Austin's in 2001).
-
You know, I'd call you a huge nerd, but I'd probably do the same thing to. Hey, I happened to be watching it earlier in the week so it was still in the VCR.
-
In the ring in 2002, Hurricane lasted 39.41 seconds.
-
This site: http://members.fortunecity.com/1sgtslaught...pv/rr/rr02.html lists Godfather's time at 0:00, but that's a clreical error. He was in it for 1min 47sec 41ms, eliminated by Chuck/Christian via double clothesline.

Which year?
-
I'll check Godfather's time in a sec, but from what point are you counting time, Gunslinger? When the buzzer goes off or when they enter the ring?
-
Well, according to my stopwatch: Warlord was in the 1989 Royal Rumble match for exactly 2.08 seconds. I counted from the moment when both of his feet touched the inside of the ring to the time when both feet touched the floor.
-
To settle this, I'll go get my copy of RR89 and time Warlord's time in the Rumble.
-
Well, Warlord just stepped through the ropes and got clotheslined out over the top. I'd think that his must have taken a shorter time due to the lack of distance he had to travel.

Is the entire point of Holly taking on Brock...
Slickster replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Technically, even during the WWE boom of the late 80's, there were quite a few titles on the line: WWE IC Tag Women's Women's Tag Team King of the WWE Million Dollar Title -

I think it could work as sort of a 'Million Dollar Title' sort of belt (i.e. not a regularly defended belt, used to add to a character). Besides, who better for the Hardcore title than Hardcore Holly? Downhome's 'DQ loss' scenario would be a GREAT idea to bring about this storyline. -

At No Mercy on 10/19 in Baltimore, yes. -
No, those were 2 different angles. -Flair vs. Fujinami temporarily split the WCW and NWA titles (which had previously been held by the same person) when Fujinami pinned Flair in 2/91 in Japan. The Japanese ref counted the fall, but the WCW ref disqualified Fujinami because he'd thrown Flair over the top rope (an illegal move in WCW at that time.) Therefore, Fujinami was the new NWA champ and Flair was still the WCW champ. At SuperBrawl I in 5/91, NJPW referee Tiger Hatori was the referee in the ring, while WCW referee Bill Alfonso was the backup referee on the outside. -The WCW International World Title came about because WCW split from the NWA in September of 1993. As a result, the NWA dropped recognition of Ric Flair as its world champion (which he had been for two months). So, Flair became known simply as the 'World Heavyweight Champion' while Vader reigned as WCW Champion (does this 'two champs' situation sound familiar to anyone? ). Anyway, WCW later created its own made-up NWA-like 'WCW International Board of Governors' who controlled Flair's title, which they renamed the WCW International World Heavyweight Title. (In storyline terms, WCW created a NEW PROMOTION out of thin air to recognize ONE TITLE.) Anyway, the belts were reunified on 6/23/94, just in time for the belt to be all but awarded to Hulk Hogan the next month.

Amen to that, and by the way your sig fucking rules all.

Hammer and Corey Feldman, among others.

A question about Royal Rumble/Battle Royals
Slickster replied to evilhomer's topic in The WWE Folder
[mark explanation] After getting hit with a special move, perhaps they go toward the ropes in the hopes that they can backdrop their attacker out (a la Rock-Bigshow in 2000). -

[mark explanation below] With ring experience, you bounce off the ropes thousands of times. Therefore, you expect the top rope to touch your shoulder blades at about the same point every time. When the rope isn't there, it causes you to lose your concentration. It's like a running back whose shoe suddenly comes untied; you lose focus and often can't steady yourself in time. -
I think you mean the 8 man tag at Wrestlemania 8. But I'm pretty sure Repo Man was in the 93 Rumble, and probably wrestled for a few months after that into 1993. Check Cawthon's page if you wanna know for sure. His last recorded match in WWE prior to WMX7 was on 3/28/93 in LA (where he lost to Typhoon).

Finally, the Benoit/Booker series gets some recognition!
