The NWA/World/Big Gold Belt/WCW Int'l Title...

What were your favorite bloopers / fluck-ups
Slickster replied to Lil' Bitch's topic in Television & Film
Friday the 13th movies are full of bloopers. F13 pt 2. When a girl is looking for her dog in the woods, she looks RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA for a good 6 seconds. In Jason Lives, when Jason is brought back to life, the maggots on his face are sliding down. I agree. -

Friday the 13th, Part IV (The Final Chapter) Trish and Rob enter through the front door and immediately go to the basement. Then Rob fights with Jason in the basement and is killed. Trish runs out the door to another cabin to escape and Jason follows within 15 seconds. We even see him go out the door (in a memorably gory way). But then, he throws Rob's body through the window 10 seconds later. Remember, Rob was killed in the BASEMENT. Of the OTHER HOUSE. Jason must have sprinted like a fucking track star to go back, get the body and lob it through the glass in mere seconds. -
The reason that I've heard enough times to regard it as somewhat credible was that Jarrett was angry with the WWF for portraying him as someone who couldn't sing (the whole lip synching issue with the Road Dogg and "With my Baby Tonight"). Road Dogg left at the same time and didn't come back until fall 1996. I'm guessing both of their contracts were up and neither was happy with the plans the WWF had for them (ie a match at Summer Slam for one). For the record: Did Jarrett actually sing at IYH 1? What about IYH: Unforgiven?

Because he was "The Wizard of the Web" . . . and wasn't that in 1998 when he turned heel and went with DOA? Right. WWE Magazine printed a story about how he was using his 'Internet knowledge' to get revenge on LOD by getting superstats or something (think the York Foundation's computer here).
-
He was only teaming with Arn Anderson because the matches had been taped weeks before and for some reason wcw didn't change anything. They couldn't change it, really. WCWSN and all their other shows were taped at least 4 weeks in advance, so they would've had to cut those matches out of the show (and since they probably didn't tape extra matches, they would've had to fill in an additional 10 mins of TV time a week with something else).

Almost every year, there's a mystery entrant who enters the Rumble unannounced and usually gets a cheap pop. Who's it gonna be this year? I'm guessing either Hogan or Savage (to get hype for WMXX) or perhaps even Dusty Rhodes (a guaranteed cheap pop). Your thoughts?
-
That makes no sense...if Benoit wins the Rumble, according to the rules of last year (which I can only assume will be in place this year) he wins a shot at the WWE champion. Why would he even NEED to accept an open challenge to get a shot? Hell, if he's gonna take an open challenge, he doesn't even need to win the rumble. I concur with those who have essentially stated the following: Benoit NOT wrestling for the SD title makes everything he's done with Brock recently pointless. According to Finkel's intro, the winner of the Rumble gets a shot at their BRAND's champion. And regarding Heyman; it's simple. Benoit wins the Rumble, but Heyman bitches him out in another 'management vs. workers' promo and simply refuses to allow him to compete for the title at WMXX, no exceptions. Heyman thinks he's crushed Benoit's chances forever, but Benoit jumps ship to RAW the next Monday and is given the shot by Bischoff. Of course, not having Benoit get the WWE Title shot could kinda make the WWE Champ's opponent at WMXX seem like a 'backup' contender in the fans' eyes because he didn't 'earn' the shot. You could also have the announcers play up the resentment that some RAW heels could have toward Benoit for 'stealing' their title shot (remember, they could have had that shot had Benoit not jumoed).

He was a bodybuilder (Mr Gulf Coast '88!) and tried out for the NFL. He was offered a contract by the Dolphins but turned it down. He was working at Bally's when he met Buddy Rogers, who was impressed enough by him that he sent him to be trained by Larry Sharpe in the Carolinas. There, he won the South Atlantic Title by beating Ken Shamrock (!) in 1990. Word soon reached Titan and he was hired in 1991- just a year after he entered the business.

I'm thinking that if they're booking Benoit to win the match, they'll make his Rumble run start against a challenging hoss opponent. With that in mind, I'm guessing either Batista or Mark Henry will draw #2 in the Rumble match. If he's not going to win, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see Flair enter at #2 (just so announcers can reference his legendary run in 1992 as #3).

Well, the idea isn't to push Sabu, is it. With him coming up from behind they could pull out a sequence similar to the Austin/Rock ending in (was it?) 1999. The fans will have a collective heart attack if Sabu attacks from behind, pulls a few of his stunts and throws Benoit over the top rope before Benoit catches the top rope in the last moment and starts his comeback which obviously ends woth Benoit eliminating Sabu. I'd sooooooooooo mark out for that. I believe Sabu was almost included in the '96 or '97 Rumble due to the ECW/WWE relationship at that time. He'd even planned his own elimination; roll out with an opponent, set up a table, put the guy on it, and put him through the table with a plancha (eliminating himself).
-
That tournament was more disorganized than...something really disorganized. Wasn't that "double elimination"? There was no bracket. It seemed like Dean Malenko had 12 matches in the tournament while Ohtani(sp?) had one. And didn't Brad Armstrong actually eliminate Malenko from the tourney? They never announced when it would end. Malenko just seemed to show up with the belt after he beat Ohtani on Worldwide rendering the whole tournament concept pretty useless. Something like that. They had (I think) Benoit and Ohtani wrestle the finals before the tourney even started, then they just did random matches and then aired Benoit/Ohtani. Or something like that. I'm re-watching HHH/HBK right now. NO WAY is it ****3/4 or even ****+. That's about the long and the short of it. Benoit beat Ohtani for the belt in Japan, then they had the NA tournament for it.

If anybody can remember an old indy fed

Could've been: UWF [Abrams] NWC Slaughter's AWF or maybe IWCCW Depends on where you were, I guess. -
Hopefully, she'll do better than she did against Buttafuoco.... This could've been written for last year's Rumble too; just change the XIX to an XX and there you go.
-
I know, but they didn't do it last year. They either do it on RR and WM or he attempts to attack Kane twice on WM and gets his ass chockslammed for both attempts. He appeared at WMs 14-16, getting tombstoned once, chokeslammed once, and chokeslammed, then a stinkface from Rikishi.
-
I've made a few changes to the list; that's what I get for not double-checking some stuff I thought I knew.
-
D'oh! I forgot all the buildup videos for Taker's return; he's no mystery entrant then. Sorry!

As my TV system prevents me from watching of TNA (save the occasional episode of Xplosion), correct me if I'm wrong here... But from what I understand from Dames' reports, TNA is THE flagship affiliate of the NWA. However, it generally acts as a separate promotion unto itself, utilizing only selected talent from some affiliates. Much of this talent apparently doesn't advance much farther than doing Xplosion duty. I have 2 questions that I think need to be answered: 1. Why doesn't TNA bring in champions from other NWA promotions and have them defend their titles on the show? The benefits of such matches are obvious for individual promoters, as having your champs on PPV (not to mention having TNA commentators put over the promotion and its titles) makes for more credibility as a 'big time' local fed and can therefore lead to better business. [This can also be used to highlight NWA's tradition, as belts like the Florida State, Missouri State, Southern, and Central States titles have been around for decades.] At least twice a month, a title from one of the member promotions should be defended on TNA. Have the champ cut a promo then defend the belt against the #1 contender from their organization. How could doing this every so often be anything but positive? 2. Why doesn't TNA hold shows at the sites of its member promotions? Think about it. TNA is a part of the NWA. TNA needs places where they will get a good crowd response. Groups like NWA Wildside, NWA East, and NWA Battlezone are successful. Why NOT hold a show in their arena? In my book, it's virtually a license to print money! What do you guys think?

Thanks! *struts like Flair as the 'Darkwing Duck' theme plays in the background*

Nermal is male and will be voiced by David Eigenberg (of Sex and the City). Read the synopsis at garfieldmovie.com to see the rest of the cast/vocal talents. EDIT: I thought Nermal was FEMALE all this time. After all, wasn't the character voice done by a woman?

My conclusion: D-Von is the designated Ricky Morton of the team and as such must take all the power moves. Oh, and the last sentence in your question could be really misconstrued....
