    OAO Royal Rumble Thread Jan/29th/06

If they do decide to go with Tazz and Styles I hope they leave the stupid RAW vs SD talk for most of the match. I LOVED Tazz and JR in their first Ruble but the second one they did was all about "Yeah, its a RAW guy" or "Yeah a SD guy threw out a RAW guy". It really got on my nerves. And the commentating for the main event of Survivor Series was awful. I just want Styles (best play by play in any WWE main show) and Tazz calling the matches.

    NOAH Young Lion Promotion Announced!

Thats what I thought as well. Its a good idea to have a developmental kind of organization to make the new young wrestlers to learn in before they hit the main stage with NOAH. If done right NOAH might benefit alot from this and become even better than they already are. However I think it will take quite a while before we really see what this new promotion does for its wrestlers and what relation it will have to pro-wrestling NOAH long term.
  3. I dont understand why Moore is getting the heat though. He's just there doing his job. Shouldnt it be the bookers and writers that should get heat putting him in front of other talent? I would rather see Shelley getting the push but I hate his "gimmick" and they really need to make people stand out a bit more before they push them. Thats the nature of the beast, especially in US pro-wrestling.
  4. * Apolo's status is questionable due to him missing the last ppv Apparently it wasnt even his fault he missed the PPV. However I couldnt care less about him. If this is a way for TNA to get rid of him then by all means fire him now. * Christy Hemme is expected to sign She showed passion and fire and interest. She would do good as Ravens girlfriend as someone said. Sure as hell better to pay her than Jackie Gayda. * Matt Morgan is debatable..Great talker and not so great worker I though he made alot of progress during his last run in WWE apart from the stupid gimmick. I wouldnt mind TNA at least giving him a chance. * Shannon Moore has tons of heat for being pushed before "homegrown" talent Havent seen his TNA work yet but if he deserves it and is over they should push him. * Jeff Hardy is on his way back They should have fired him a long time ago. * Michael Modest & Donovan Morgan have been inquiring about work in tna Could be interesting. NOAH likes them. Havent seen either working the US style though.
  5. Well, it didnt reach out to me anyway thats for sure.
  6. Harlem heat were pushed as brothers. Ok, I watched in Sweden and I guess they pushed it differently. I never had english announcers on my WCW shows from 1994/95.
  7. WWE lies all the time. If they dont lie about people being bigger than they are they lie about them being smaller or that they have a brother they tag with etc. A fun thing is in WCW in 1994 when they billed some team, cant remember who, as brothers (when they werent) while Harlem Head, who are brothers, wasnt pushed as brothers.

Most forgettable stint in a promotion

I didnt read every page but I think no one mentioned Konnan in WWF 1992/93 when he was Max Moon (he was want he?). I believe he had a fallout or something and that the Max Moon charachter was placed on another wrestler. He was going under the name Terra Ryzin in WCW as well for a while until they repacked him at Jean Paul Levesque. The plan was for him and Regal to become the Blue Bloods. HHH left and the spot went to Bobby Eaton instead.
  9. Agreed. While I will usually defend Bret/Owen since it was a pretty good match, the overrated Ladder Match kills it. I'm sorry, but that ladder match just doesn't hold up at all today. Easily one of the most overrated matches in WWF history. Maybe Im out of line here since this regards PPV's but maybe the most overrated matches I have seen is Owen vs Bret but a few months later from SummerSlam in the cage. Its basically, one move, climb, one move, climb, one move, climb etc. I just hated that match and people frequently award that **** and more. I think Tabbo Tuesday 2004 is a bit underrated. I did enjoy Jericho vs Benjamin, Flair vs Orton and HHH vs HBK. Not a great PPV but I feel it should be looked upon more positive than it has been in the past.

Which WWE show should you be watching?

The #1 Championship RAW - Edge v. Cena Smackdown! - Kurt Angle v. Mark Henry (w/ Daivari) This is a tricky one. I do prefer Kurt Angle as champion to both Edge and Cena. However Angle is feuding with freakin Mark Henry. I think cena vs Edge kan produce a good match but I dont think Angle can make Henry look very good. I say its a tie here because of the circumstances. The #2 Championship RAW - Ric Flair v. ???? Smackdown! - Booker/Orton v. Benoit This was a no-brainer. SD wins because the US title actually means something. The IC title isnt even mentioned on RAW. The Tag Titles RAW - Show/Kane v. Heartthrobs? Snitsky/Tomko? Viscera/Val? 3 Minute Warning? Smackdown! - MNM v. Mexicools? Kendrick/London? Dicks? Gymini? Regal/Burchill? I dont like Kane and while they have been boioked well and strong that has been at the expense of every other tag team on RAW. Its isnt the least competative. Kane and Show probably do more single matches as well. MNM is the best team i WWE (considering everything). Add other great teams at Regal/Burchill and Kendrick/London and the vote goes to SD. The "Other" Title RAW - Trish Stratus v. Victoria? Mickie James? Smackdown! - Kid Kash v. London? Kendrick? Jamie Noble? Nunzio? I think James, Stratus and Victoria are the best women WWE has had in a long time. However it really is only those three ladies there. And to be honest even the best WWE womens wrestling stand no chance to the likes of Kash, Noble, Nunzio and the boys. The Midcard RAW - Carlito/Masters/Show/Kane/Shelton/RVD/Flair Smackdown! - Orton/Benoit/Booker/JBL/Rey/Kennedy/Lashley I would say this is a tie for me. Maybe a small edge to SD but Im not sure. I like to watch the up and comers. Especially when they make progress (Masters/CCC in the elimination chamber for example). I am enjoyed by JBL, Rey, Benoit, Shelton, RVD and Flair as the guys who are already established (well more than the rookies anyway). The GM RAW - Vince? Smackdown! - Teddy Long Get Vince off my TV (er computer)!!!! The Top Backstage Guys RAW - HHH/HBK/Vince Smackdown! - Undertaker/Kurt Angle/JBL Huh? Who is playing the best political games backstage? Angle, and JBL are doing something I like. Taker doesnt hog to much spotlight. I think HHH is doing a good job nowadays as well. HBK is annoying and he feels very outdated even if I do tend to enjoy his actual matches. As I've said before - get Vince away from tv. The edge goes to SD. The Internet Show/Jobbers RAW - Heart Throbs/Snitsky/Tomko/Viscera/Val/Gregory Helms/Rosey/Murdoch/Cade/Dupree/Conway Smackdown! - Kendrick/London/Jamie Noble/Burchill/Regal/Holly/Hardy/Orlando/Nunzio/Vito/Sylvan SD has the crusiers + Regal/Burchill. Thats more than enough for my vote. The Women RAW - Trish Stratus/Mickie James/Victoria/Candice/Torrie/Ashley/Maria Smackdown! - Stacy/Sharmell/Melina/Jillian Melina is the best woman in WWE in such a long time. She just has "it". RAW has alot of dead weight but they do have Stratus, Victoria and James. I seem to enjoy Marias backstage things at times as well. Stacy is bad for SD while Sharmell does her job well and gets heat and Jillian is doing ok. The edge goes to SD just because I overall tend to like that show more (+ less dead weight). The Announce Team RAW - Styles/Lawler/Coach/Maria/Todd Smackdown! - Cole/Tazz/Matthews/Funaki This is a hard one. Mattews is good and Maria is funny at times. Lawler and Coach was more interesting after the addition of Styles and I think they work pretty well. I used to love Tazz's announcing a couple of years ago but he's just getting worse and worse nowadays. And Cole is a person I can both have and loose and it wont make alot of difference. It goes against my heart but Im actually choosing RAW here. Wrestlecrap RAW - Spirit Squad, Vince's Devils, Mama Benjamin Smackdown! - Boogeyman, Jillian Hall's face, Midgets Jillians face and the Midgets are low marks for SD. As long as the Boogey Man doesnt wrestle I actually enjoy him. Havent seen the Spirit Squad yet and Im not that annoyed with Sheltons mama. Vince needs to get away from my tv though. Its a tie I guess. The Time Slot RAW - Monday nights at 9pm on USA Smackdown! - Friday nights at 8pm on UPN I live in Sweden and we dont get WWE on TV so we have to download it if we wanna see it. Therefore time slots, networks etc dowsnt matter a whole lot to me.

    Lance Storm retirement over

Alot longer than most retirements in wrestling I havent watched ROH in quite some time but people tell me they have become better (with the announcing, less spotty wrestling etc). I'd love to see Lanve vs Bryan. I'll probably try to see that match. It should be great.
  12. This is my favorite PPV of all time. First off the stuff still hold up good today. And second it was a huge thing for me back in the day. It was the first time I saw really brutal wrestling. It was the first WCW PPV I ever saw. It opened my eyes that there is alot of great stuff going on outside of WWF.
  13. WrestleMania X was a huge disapointment. I didnt see it until probably 10 years later. I started to watch WWF in 1993 but then Swedish tv switched to WCW in 1994 before they stopped airing wrestling in 1996. So I missed it back then and never got around watching it after either until a few years ago. MAJOR disapointment. Basically I remember Bret vs Owen and HBK vs Razor. Both good matchen but they are also so overrated it isnt even funny. People call them both ***** frequently. I dont think any of them are. Good matches? Yes, totally. Five star matchen? No, far from.
  14. I would easily buy a real wrestling belt if I had the chance. I wouldnt pay just any price for it though.

I like these threads. Keep it up man.

    Cool finisher, horrible name

You must have never had to worry about a tornado, then. Living in the south, you hear F5, you just think "Oh, shit". You're absolutely right about that. I live in Sweden and we dont have tornados over here.

    TNA or WCW?

WCW easily. I never saw much of them at the height of their popularity (just early 90'ies). I'd choose them over TNA.

    How old is Fit Finlay?

So how old is he? I found one site claiming he was born i 1959 ( http://www.gerweck.net/fitfinlay.htm ). That would make him 47 which sounds a bit old I think. I thought he was about 10 years younger than that. Anyone know?

    New Indy wrestlers to TNA

My understanding was that both have offered him deals in the past, but he'd rather be wrestling 20/30/40 minute matches with people who he wants to wrestle, rather than have a little more money and be put into 4/5/6 minute TV matches so he turned them both down. And that my friends is called intelligence. Danielson should just continue to develop as a wrestler. He is great and should be even better in a few years. I believe Harry Smith also turned down the big E (maybe TNA as well) to get more experience wrestling different styles of wrestling.

    How old is Fit Finlay?

They haven't really taken him back. He's been working backstage for a long time now. He was responsible for training a lot of the women. It's just really weird that they're giving him an on-air role. I know. I meant taking him back as an active wrestler.

    How old is Fit Finlay?

Feels weird that WWE takes him back when he is that old. Im not complaining though. I will love to see him again.

Is Carlito a better wrestler then we think?

He showed alot more potential in the EC than ever before. But it might just have been a good day. In-ring I havent seen much good stuff with him since he debuted.

Matt hardy trying to get fired

Why doesnt he quit then? Doesnt both quitting and being released have the same consequenses (2 month no compete clause)?

WWE to Start Another "Controversial" angle

I dont really think the WWE writers are racists. But they do conciously play up stereotypes to create publicity and shock value. If they were racists they wouldnt push Booker like they did in the best of 7 (before the injury that is). Trinity could be a asset to the womens division but I'd rather see OJ get fired and that is what I think will happen eventually because of this. I cant see why WWE still want us to buy into homosexual gimmicks (even if this one is supposedly bisexual). They cant do anything they havent already done with it. And besides they already have The Heart Throbs acting stereotypical gay on RAW.

    Ugliest WWE Belt

I dont understand why people bash the WWE title (the one Guerrero had for example): http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/ed...errero/photos2/ I think its easily one of the better belts out there. Its big but not too big. It has a nice plain design and lots of gold.
