The NWA-TNA Victory Road Prediction Thread

NWA World Title Match Ladder Match Rules Jeff Jarrett vs. Jeff Hardy Winner: Jeff Jarrett but the Outsiders destroy everyone to end the show. X Division Championship Petey Williams vs AJ Styles Winner: Williams with more D'Amore interference Monster's Ball The Alpha Male vs. Abyss vs. Raven Winner: Monty with Raven to job NWA World Tag Team Title Team Canada vs. 3Live Kru Winner: 3LK to feud with the outsiders Last Team Standing Match Triple X vs. AMW Winner: AMW 20 Superstar Invitational X Division Gauntlet Match Winner: Hector Garza Russo or Rhodes Rhodes although the DOA stuff should die Trinity's Challenge Sable The Return Of "In The Pit With Piper" with Roddy Piper Lex Luger Piratita Morgan vs Mascarita Sagrada Winner: Mascarita Sagrada
  2. Credit: PWTorch This Sunday is a milestone in the two-plus year existence of NWA Total Nonstop Action. Jerry Jarrett's vision and his son, Jeff's, direction have led NWA TNA down and to Victory Road (pun fully intended, hence the capitalization, so if you didn't catch it, I don't know what to tell you). Victory Road is supposed to be a watershed event for the fledgling-yet-number-two company. So why do I get the feeling it won't be all that good? And why does the last few months - if not longer - of shenanigans in the TNA locker room seem like it would make for a more entertaining show? The main event for the PPV is Jeff Jarrett vs. Jeff Hardy. It's not that they haven't pushed the match hard, but it's that they haven't developed it whatsoever. It has been written a hundred times that this match is no more than Nickname vs. Nickname, Finisher vs. Finisher. Beyond this, I don't know why Hardy is motivated to win the NWA World Hvt. Title, nor what squashing a dozen cruiserweights in the opening match on Impact has done to bolster Jarrett's standing. Jarrett vs. Hardy wasn't all that good the last time, and in my opinion, putting a ladder in the mix isn't going to make things any better. Just because Hardy was once the king of the ladder match doesn't mean his broken-down-at-28-years body will perform better with the aluminum apparatus at his disposal; by the looks of him, it's not like the once-great Scott Hall could have a Stepstool Match on Sunday. I don't even think this will be a "car crash" (so bad you have to look); it's going to be lackluster and below the expectations that don't even exist. However, for expectation slippage that would be worth my 30 dollars, I would much rather watch an unmotivated Jeff Hardy come sauntering into the backstage area in Orlando every other week, a day late and maybe even a little "under the weather." Then to see Jarrett, Dutch Mantel, and the rest of the brass kiss a little Charismatic Enigma BUTT since they've gone this far with his push would be entertaining as heck. How do you make someone feel welcome that probably doesn't give a damn that he's there in the first place? That's a strategy I'd like to see play out. Speaking of those "in no condition to perform," why not slap Lex Luger on the TV for ten minutes and see what happens? Let him sit in on commentary during the Monty Brown vs. Raven vs. Abyss match and have him watch three men who have divided the Total Package - Brown's physique, Raven's mouth and mind, and Abyss' big-man athleticism - and weep. Reality TV at its finest. Or there was Scott Hall who, a couple weeks ago, reportedly got in the ring where Jeff Jarrett was giving an impassioned speech to his roster and mocked him to his back. Jarrett will probably cut a promo at the pay-per-view, and he hasn't said anything interesting or memorable since his "J-E-double-F-ha-ha" vignettes were scripted for him. Spice things up with a dash of Scott Hall in the background, making his scaredy fingers and airplane wings. There's nothing embarrassing about being a 43-year-old high school sophomore! There aren't many negative things I can say about the X-Division wrestlers in NWA TNA, but there's plenty I can say about the booking of that division. At Victory Road, 20 men will wrestle in an X-Division gauntlet match. They've tried this before, and these weren't good, either. Trying to fit 20 men with arsenals as long as ten shopping lists into a 15-minute slot, not to mention the rapid-fire and thus unbelievable eliminations, doesn't do these men justice. Plus, most of them don't have well developed characters, which would draw in the fans emotionally. Perhaps putting one of Kid Kash's ranting and raving sessions on live PPV would do the trick for him. Most people don't know he's an old man now but still calls himself "Kid;" most people don't know that he's been busting his ass up and down the east coast, bitching out promoter after promoter for higher pay with threats of jumping ship. But most people would know how big of a prick Kid Kash is if they saw him chew out the ultra-talented AJ Styles for being a promoter's pet, or how big of a prima donna he is with every time he threatened to leave TNA for a WWE that wouldn't take him, anyway. Kid Kash probably has more promo time under his belt than any X-Division wrestler... and the worst part? We haven't seen the most entertaining 90 percent of it. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the political campaigns of Dusty "I AppOOOved Dis' Methage" Rhodes and Vince "My Desk Will Be Empty Monday" Russo. These men are vying for your vote to be the TNA Director of Authority. I don't feel Russo has added anything to TNA in his role as (that was?) DOA, and I don't think Rhodes could make it any better. I don't take a fat hick with filthy jeans and a lisp seriously as a human being let alone someone in authority. Buuuut, because Russo is leaving TNA after the PPV, plus he has a book in the (re-)works and is quite opinionated if I do say so, and because Rhodes is one of the most egomaniacal 60-year-old wash-ups in wrestling history, something tells me their interactions backstage would be something to see; not even just with each other, but with everybody. If a cameraman followed Dusty Rhodes around the locker room for just two weeks, we'd have a Goldmine Video on our hands (pun fully intended, hence the capitalization, so if you didn't catch it, I don't know what to tell you). If anyone bothers to order Victory Road this Sunday, let me know if it is really more entertaining than what I have proposed here. The stuff he wrote about Dusty made me laugh.
  3. TNA have announced on their Street Team website that they are looking for people to go on a bus from Nashville to Victory road similar to the ROH service. I guess this is to show they have not ignored the Nashville crowd.

    The Spankster debuts

Thats a cool match but I bet it has a commercial in the middle. Does anyone have the rest of the spoilers?

    Lex Luger returns to TNA

Maybe Sting will be the pit guy?
  6. cmpunk04

    Impact! spoilers

They probably asume that everyone who goes to the site is watching the show so they wont be online. Twisted TNA logic.
  7. Yeah Im watching it in the UK for free as well. Completely throw away so far.

    TNA's Roster

The problem with Borash is that he should be kept as a ring announcer only. Judging by the last few Impact shows he is still doing certain video packages for the show. His are not a patch on Sahadi's work and if Sahadi is being paid top money he should be doing all the video work for TNA. Borash's stuff looks amatur compared to his stuff.

Andy Douglas and Johnny Devine injured in

Who knows. I know both guys have cocky on screen characters so you never know if they started anything.
  10. cmpunk04

Andy Douglas and Johnny Devine injured in

That really sucks. Devine is a great talent and does not deserve to be put on the shelf for over a month because of some ass holes. Im glad they are both ok though.

    Impact! spoilers

I know you are correct saying that they will have been there to job to DRay and Shark but to me they are at the bottom of the TNA roster so I dont see why 2 of the no name jobbers they use to feed Abyss and Monty couldnt have been used instead of 2 reasonably talented workers.
  12. cmpunk04

    Impact! spoilers

Makes me laugh that Kid Romeo and Roderick Strong (who is beter than half the TNA roster) jobbed to D RAY AND SHARK BOY!?! Can you bury indie stars any more than that?

Twisted Idea for Taker/JBL at No Mercy

MARK OUT!! I know it does nothing in the long run but to see this one more time and to JBL as well would be awesome.
  14. cmpunk04

    Idea for X Cup

TNA have this thing where they always get the worst promotions on deals with them. AAA instead of CMLL giving us Abismo Negro and Heavy Metal AJPW instead of NJPW giving those green guys. All Star UK guys instead of the FWA talent like Storm, Williams and Tighe.

    Impact taping for 9/14 cancelled...

The only Team Canada vs Team Mexico match I remember was Williams, Young and Roode vs Abismo Negro, Heavy Metal and Mr. Aguila from the second show. It was average at best as Negro and Metal were terrible. Parka has never wrestled at the tapings so it must e this match.
  16. This is my thoughts on the current roster and what I think should be changed. ABYSS: He is one who I would keep. He has potential to be a champion in time. Now he is away from Goldylocks he can go out on his own and show what he can do like he did against AJ. Monty cant touch Abyss ability wise. AJ STYLES: One of the few cornerstones TNA has. He has the ability to apeal to both casual and hardcore fans whic not many wrestlers can do. He deserved better with his title run than to have Russo help him with every match and then be made Jarretts jobber. If TNA can keep hold of AJ he will be their star. ALEX SHELLY: Very underrated so far. He has the technical ability of half the roster combined and has not been able to show it yet. He needs to drop all the baby bear rubbish and go into business for himself. I would deffinately keep him around. ALPHA MALE MONTY BROWN: Overrated but he should be kept around. I think if Monty can improve his wrestling skills he can do well. His promos are funny. However he does not deserve the place of Jarretts pet project which he seems to have. Not ready to carry the company. AMAZING RED: He has been a shadow of himself since returning from surgery. His Infa Red move has gone and has been replaced by a sloppy elbow drop. He is acting as a jobber at the moment and I dont know what he can offer. THE NATURALS: I would keep them around but not at the level they are at now. With time they can be good as shown in the cage match with AMW, but they need to drop the southern mentality. They are not at the Tennessee indies any more. BG JAMES AND KONNAN: Washed up and it is time for them to go. Sure they have been motivated a bit more lately but they are still mediocre at best. BG could have a backstage interviewers role and I guess Konnan could do spanish announcing. CHAD COLLYER: Again underrated. Him and Shelly could have some great matches given the chance but he has been a jobber so far. AMW: A good tag team who deserve their spots in TNA. I dont think they are the best team ever as we are supposed to believe but they need to stick around. CHRIS SABIN: Last year I thought he may be a breakthrough star. I was wrong with that but he is still solid. He needs to be used more than he is at the moment. CHRIS VAUGHN: Not ready for the promotion at all DALLAS: Worthless. Test eat your heart out. DAVID YOUNG: Has been turned into a jobber by TNA and it would be hard to take him seriously. DESIRE, TRINITY, GOLDY, ETC: I would keep all the women except for Goldylocks. She is not trained, cant bump and is just there for the sake of it really. The rest do no harm though. D RAY 3000 & SHARK BOY: I dont like them. I know some do but D Ray is vanilla and Shark Boy is overrated. DON HARRIS: Worthless. Keep him as security as long as he is not being paid to stand there and look tough. DUSTY RHODES: He does have a place in TNA as he is very popular. I wish he had a smaller role than the one he is in now as it gets too much after a while. Can cut a good promo though. ERIK WATTS: The biggest waste of money in TNA at the moment. I have never spoke to a single person who cares about him and I think he should be out asap. ELIX SKIPPER AND CHRIS DANIELS: Probably the best team in TNA at the moment. Daniels carrys the team and Skipper is ok sometimes. With Daniels commiting himself to TNA they have one of the best all round workers today. If the team runs its course its time to give Daniels a good solo run to show what he can do with the likes of Styles. HOTSTUFF HERNANDEZ: I honestly thought TNA would have done more with him as he has good ability for his size. JEFF HARDY: Call me a sucker but I think TNA should keep Hardy. He has the appeal and name value. By no means should he be the world champion though. I just wish he would get himself motivated so he could do some of his ladder stuff. JEFF JARRETT: Here we go! He does not deserve to be on top for as long as he is, hell he should be down the card. He puts himself over at the expense of others, thinks he is a draw when he is not and is not that great of a wrestler anyway. Try telling that to him though. God I wish he was not in power. JERELLE CLARKE AND MIKEY BATTS: They should be the underdog team that Shark and D Ray get the role of. They have been booked odd so far. 2 big wins followed by 2 total squashes each time. Clarke has a hell of a cool looking finisher as well. JONNY FAIRPLAY: Im not sure if he has any appeal left anymore. If TNA were set on using him they should have done it as soon as he gave the big plug on that Survivor show. JOHNNY SWINGER/ PAT KENNEY: I put them together as the best thing for both would be to go back together. Kenney can be good. Swinger is mediocre. KAZARIAN AND MICHAEL SHANE: They should stick around. They fit in the tag division more than the X Division and are an ok heel team. KID KASH: Probably the best heel in TNA at the moment. The only guy who can make the crowd try and hit him in TNA. A lot dont agree but I like his ring work as well. He deserved to win at least one of those matches with AJ. LA PARK AND PSYCHOSIS: I would bring them back for more shows. They are recognizable and are good workers as well. I hope TNA get them back soon. ONYX: Worthless. He looks like he can hardly move. RAVEN: Another cornerstone of TNA. I think he deserves a title run although I dont see it coming. I hope he is back on tv soon as I think the shows are better with Raven around. Give the guy more! RON KILLINGS: Another guy who deserves more. He has done too much to be Monty's whipping boy. Truth could have gone on a good title run but instead he jobs to Jarrett a week later. I hope he goes back to the main event soon. SABU: Good for ECW nostalga but not what he used to be. I have a feeling we may not see him again though. SONJAY DUTT: Great worker who I would love to see have a run with the X Title. He has looked good in his recent matches and can do more yet. SONNY SIAKI: Is not being used right at all. Can be good if given the chance. TEAM JAPAN: They can stay, they can go. Not bothered really. TEAM CANADA: Great heels. Petey is great and so is Devine (the best member in my view). Rude can be a good powerhouse. Im not sold on Eric Young. D'Amore is a good heel manager. Let me know your thoughts as it took a LONG time to write this out.

    Impact taping for 9/14 cancelled...

to be honest if that was the show they put together it would be better than most of the recent Impact shows anyway.

When is TNA going to wake up?

Well if TNA go under who do you think will fill the gap if anyone? ROH?, CZW?, or even another start up fed?

My breakdown of the TNA roster

Agreed. AJ should have been left in he title picture and not in the X scene. He seems to be the most popular guy with the Orlando crowd as well. Brown definately has the charisma. If his ring work improves then he should step up. Killings really deserves a strong singles push. He was the star of the heavyweight division in early TNA. It gets the guys on the shows as well. Without Team Canada I think Devine would struggle to get on the shows which would be a shame.

My breakdown of the TNA roster

Iv not seen much of him outside of TNA so I have no clue how he would look in a serious lengthy match. In TNA the only time I have enjoyed him was his New Jack skits. I dont think the should build the promotion around him but I do think he is the best heel in TNA at the moment. I guess that says somthing about their main event scene when a midcarder upstages your top heels. Agreed 100%

    Impact match listings

If the 3 tag matches get the time they will be decent. I wish TNA would kill the squash matches though. I mean this is their only show now and there are still 2 squashes there. The Kash match could have easily been in place of these.
