That's in fact exactly what TNA told him. His basic response was for them to go fuck themselves, he wasn't spending any more money to promote their show if they were gonna be ungrateful.
-
Exactly. Russo has this incredibly annoying tendency to script matches as if the people doing the run-ins have magic fortunetelling abilities that let them know that nobody's gonna get pinned until the ref gets accidentally bumped towards the end of the match.
-
Plus, lots of evidence points to Bin Ladin hiding in Pakistan now. Just sayin'.
-
How would that raise costs? Lots more students = lots more tuition, plus government stipends for state schools.
-
Why? For the money? No, he's not getting paid, and it's not like he's shilling a book he wrote or something. For the fame? No, if that was the case then he wouldn't have quit wrestling. I don't get people who claim that Mero has "an agenda": what agenda?

Alan's been a tireless reporter/cheerleader/defender/amateur fluffer since TNA's Nashville days. He always uses his laptop to write reports, even at little indy shows. This is just yet another instance of TNA being dicks to their fans at the live shows, for no good reason. It's especially stupid in this case because it's costing them one of their most loyal employees that they never even had to pay.
-
But still: 1. Mike Tyson was famous for being the world champion in a "sport" that's kinda similar to wrestling, and had a lot of crossover appeal. 2. Pacman Jones is famous for being a strip club rioter who's also an above-average quarterback in his spare time. 3. Tyson is also one of two celebrities that EVER had a provable positive effect on the wrestling company that employed them (the other being Mr. T). Bringing in an outside "star" doesn't work 90% of the time. 4. I'm not saying that Hoyt is gonna save the company or anything like that, obviously he's not. But why pay a massive contract to bring in someone who can't even get in the ring, LIE about him getting in the ring, and at the same time go around cutting the pay of your long-term employees cuz you say you don't have the money?
-
And a lot of the time it's not. I have no problem with opening up a new factory which pays its workers enough to actually feed a family. What I do have a problem with is the tendency to close down a more costly factory in a wealthy country just to take advantage of the fact that you can treat employees like slaves in a poor one. Obviously. But my point is, like Ripper said, I can't think of a single example of where a company outsourced its labor and then passed the savings on to the consumers by lowering the price of their goods.
-
Alright then, provide some numbers. You just contradicted yourself. For the most part, the outsourced jobs tend to be factory work that doesn't pay shit. That's why the companies outsource in the first place: outside of first-world countries, they don't have to worry about stuff like paying a living wage, providing health care or benefits, following strict environmental regulations, paying a regular amount of tax, that kind of thing. That's a result of R&D and technological advances. Not outsourcing. Outsourcing is used to manufacture the products that they already make at a lower cost. Also, your example is an exception, not the rule. Yes, hi-tech specialty and luxury items tend to get cheaper over time, because new breakthroughs and discoveries are made which allow them to be put together in a more cost-effective manner. But that doesn't hold true at all for basic necessities. Stuff like food, clothing, housing, electricity, gasoline, transportation, those don't get less expensive over time. Ah yes, inaccurate character assassination, the lifeblood of great debates everywhere.

Geez, you must be the only one. Even the announcers hate doing a 3-man setup. Remember how bad Raw's commentary sucked once Coach was added as a third wheel?
-
Household name? In what household? The 0.9% of TV viewers who watch TNA? Also, ROH actually draws more fans into paying to watch their product than TNA does, something JJ and Dixie never seem to comprehend. Anyone else hoping that Pacman pisses Angle off somehow so that Kurt breaks his rainmaking bones in their match?
-
Mike Tyson made money for the WWF when he was brought in. So far, Pacman has caused TNA to lose money. (Well, MORE money.) Negative attention is no good if it doesn't cause more people to watch. As for the whole Angle/Joe/Karen thing, you know what bugs me the most? That Karen Angle's psychic powers told her that there would be an accidental ref bump late in the match, and that Joe wouldn't beat Kurt before then. That's how EVERY Russo Run-in happens, the ref gets knocked out right at the point when the match is going home anyway, thus conveniently allowing whoever to interfere and turn on someone.

The fans have been boycotting their shows in droves for five years now.

That would be Sal E. Graziano you're talking bout. Also, we'd need Tommy Rich, and why not take an old Axl Rotten idea and throw the Sheik in there too. Sheik: "We are Heff Be Eye, Full Blooded Iranians!" Rich: "GODdammit Sheik, it's Eye-talians!" -
Re-organized by year, cuz I'm bored. And I'm not bothering to do the indy/foreign guys. (I didn't know Giant Ochai was dead...) The list is flawed, I think a few of the years are wrong, and where the hell are the rest of the Von Erichs? Plus, it leaves out all the older wrestlers who died of natural causes.

ONE DEGREE OF SEPARATION! -
Are you kidding? They won't even do THAT much with him. He'll just job to Jones (or more likely whoever Jones manages, at this point) and then vanish again. Every time some outside celebrity is brought into TNA, they always end up beating the shit out of one of the wrestlers. (And no, Johnny Fairplay doesn't count, I mean REAL celebrities.)

But this is the same arena where a relatively untalented guy like Bruno Sammartino stayed on top for thirty freakin' years because he was Italian. -
Meltzer's reporting it too. Oh, and could someone fix the thread title? Brian Adams is the wrestler. Bryan Adams is... not.
-
Negative attention. The ratings went down. I'm not saying Hoyt is anything special, he's basically Test with a moonsault, but I find it awesomely double-standardy that TNA claims it's too poor to pay Christy Hemme and friggin' Hoyt while they hand over ever-increasing piles of cash to guys like Angle and Jones who don't make that money back for the company.
-
By the way, did you know that despite being arrested SIX times in the past two years, Jones was signed to the single highest-paying contract in TNA history? Even when long-timers like Lance Hoyt are being told to stay home because of "cutting costs"? And Pacman gets his own personal Winnebego for a dressing room, while the undercard guys all have to share one double-wide trailer parked out back of the building? I'm not making any of this up. These are true examples of TNA's endless arrogance and stupidity.

At least they mostly just had people beat the pirate up. They gave Booker the world belt only after he started using Thee and Thou in his promos. -
Carl Oulette. Betcha.

Nope, versa-vice. Khali destroyed Umaga and tossed him, then Cena F-U'd and pinned Khali. Hey now, we need to support our fellow Texans and I can't even finish with a straight face. The whole "King" gimmick is so incredibly laughable. Yeah, it's amusing to see Mr. Huffman attempt a British accent, but they force him to play the role as if he really thinks he's an English king. I know the WWE has always liked portraying Booker like he's complete fucking retard, but come on. That's almost as bad as Paul Buarrrrrrrchill's old gimmick of really believing he's a pirate. Foul! For that comment, you receive a 3 minute warning. Personally, I hope that ratings drop like a goddamn stone so that we're not forced to endure weeks more of this Bastard McMahon crap. -
Wouldn't work. You just can't train a critter with a brain that small to aim a camera at a building and then not move. The USA sticks to what it's good at, satellite pics and wiretapping.
