  1. Already happened. And hey, guess what? She got no jail time, her career's done just fine, and it's already been forgotten.

a Q related to Raw Is Owen

If you notice, Taker is one of those Arn Anderson types who never appear out of character or talk about shoot stuff.
  3. Samoa Joe = (Vader + Taz + [insert Random Samoan Here]) / 3 Best "strong style"? Sure, why not. Best "power", maybe, though I'd argue Abyss is stronger in that department. But, best "technical"? If Kurt Angle were in a wheelchair and currently undergoing a heroin overdose, he could still stretch Joe like laffy taffy. Best "flyer"? You GOT to be shitting me, Pyle. Joe does exactly ONE flying move, the dive from inside the ring to the outside. Which everyone from Undertaker to Sandman to Bret Hart has commonly done. I mean, really, claiming a 300-pound chubby dude is the best flyer in any company that also employs AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, etc? Best "brawler"? James Storm and Homicide are laughing their asses off. AT YOU.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

I quit. "Hip roll"?! They fucking made that up. Plus, annoying typos like separating "Superbrawl" into two words. 10PoG, how the hell did you score that? I never got much above 200.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

Holy CHRIST that game is hard. I wasn't expecting old-school answers like "Doom" or "Goldust & Marlena" to be required. Plus, is there such a move as a "reverse grapevine"? And in keeping with everything the WWE's ever done, they don't actually provide you with a list of WHAT the "Top 10" scores are, so if they want to claim that Aurora McMahon-Helmsley won the damn contest, there's no way to prove 'em wrong.

Of course it will, in a vague, subtle, chaos theory-type manner. But like I said earlier, we've had an unusually cold summer here.

Jackass Crew Backs Out of SummerSlam

...what the fuck are you talking about? There's been no big debates over that stuff for years.
  8. Example #87433 of TNA = Scum: "Total Nonstop Action Wrestling says less than five percent of its grapplers have sufferend in-the-ring injuries." Well for one thing a stable champion that can pull ***** matches out of anybody is great for everyone Anyone? ANYone? I like Joe, think he's a great wrestler, but there's some no-talent hacks out there that he couldn't drag an even vaguely watchable match out of. Like, say, Boogeyman, or Kevin Nash. Joe couldn't have a "*****" match with them if there were snipers in the balconey waiting to cap him if he failed.
  9. Don't forget the New Breed, Chris Champion and Sean Royal, who did a tag-team gimmick in the mid-80s that they were SENT BACK IN TIME (by President Dusty Rhodes!) in order to, uh, get jobbed out and be forgotten.
  10. Yes, far as I know they're still doing all that bullshit. Put together, you could have one hell of a class-action lawsuit from the wrestlers, depending on what the local laws are (I'm not sure if TNA is legally based in Florida or Tennessee now). According to longtime wrestling "observer", lawyer, and unofficial agent Bob Barnett, the whole health insurance thing was a complete lie that never came to pass.

WWE General Discussion for July 2007

Who? SD is incredibly face-poor, in the you've got Batista, Kane, and Hardy, and that's about it for the upper half of the card. Masters has already been jobbing out every cruiserweight who gets in the same ring with him for the past three years. What's going to improve now? And if Vince thinks he can get people to actually cheer Masters as a goddamn babyface, he's even more delusional than the IWC thinks.

    Shitty Scenes in Great Movies

I was working in a movie theater when it first came out. There were a LOT of people who were convinced that it was real. I heard the whole range of different opinions on that flick, from people who stormed out halfway through swearing loudly to others who went back and saw it twenty times. In fact, the first time I ever saw it was at 2 in the morning in a mostly deserted theater the Thursday night before it came out (the managers always screen all the movies they get just to make sure nothing is wrong with the print and to have at least some knowledge about the movies they're showing). And it was right after I watched The Sixth Sense in a similar screening in the theater next door. And I went into both movies knowing almost nothing about them. Yep, that was an unsettling night.
  13. Yep. Exact same story at the WWE, too. That's why so many ex-Big Time wrestlers say that unions are really necessary, to end crap like that.

    Shitty Scenes in Great Movies

I loved the first movie and hated the sequel. I guess I understand that they had to make a normal fictional narrative film for the second one, since they'd pretty run the 1st-person mockumentary approach into the ground with the first one (especially with all the supplemental stuff like the Sci-Fi channel special, the book tie-in, etc). But I just hated the approach they eventually took, with a boring story, generic characters, bad dialogue, bad acting, and a director who was firmly convinced that It Was All A Dream.

    Wrestling Observer News (March 1986)

If they'd managed to do Savage/Santana and Hart/Steamboat instead of the crap they went with, given Roberts and Piper decent matches instead of a jobber and a non-wrestler respectively, and somehow put together those Bruno vs. Ventura and Crush Gals vs. Whoever matches, we might not still be talking about how WMIII was the first true modern Wrestlemania.
  16. They are indeed independent contractors. That's how all big wrestling promotions keep from having to pay for insurance and benefits for their employees.

Jackass Crew Backs Out of SummerSlam

what the fuck kind of mentality drives somebody to say such thoughtless and mean-spirited shit. The mainstream media is right about wrestling fans. Absolutely right on the mark. 1. "justcoz" often specializes in saying weird, possibly offensive shit because... uh... just cuz. 2. You jumped to the conclusion that he literally meant what he said, with no irony or sarcasm involved. I'm glad you're so great at reading minds. 3. The mainstream media is generalizing when they say every wrestling fan is the same. That's statistically impossible. 4. You're doing the same thing. 5. And are you a wrestling fan? If so, why are you insulting yourself? If not, what the fuck are you doing reading a thread about wrestling in a wrestling folder on a whole board of wrestling fans?

    I'm scared.

It's ironic considering the drug I was on was one that you'd sort of acted as Kenobi-esque mentor for me. Is that why her damn number never worked? Huh, I'd been wondering that for two years now.

    The Harry Potter Spoilers Thread

Goblet of Phuck Off But, yah, no way in hell they'd make the final movie any longer than the others in the series, the studio would be too afraid of losing their massive piles of guaranteed income. They'll have to cut out a whole LOT of shit, just like they did with GoF.

    Shitty Scenes in Great Movies

Yes, there is something: the director's commentary. He says that there WAS NO WITCH, EVER and that the entire movie and all the weird stuff was just a mass hallucination on the part of the characters.
  21. I'd really like the various judges involved to end up on one of the hardball attack talk shows and explain how they justify giving repeat offenders like Lohan such light sentences, when if this was some black kid out of the projects with no record, he'd already be in prison.

    England Underwater

But the temperatures aren't any warmer in Texas than usual. In fact, it's been a pretty mild, cool summer here, I don't think it's broken 100 degrees once (which is depressingly common most of the time, according to the locals). And it sure as hell is a dry area. So, we've got an area with no water and cool temperature, getting rained on constantly, which goes completely against your theory. I've heard TN is the opposite this summer: really damn hot. But it's always so humid that droughts there are rarely if ever a problem; you can't walk a hundred feet in TN without tripping over a stream or pond or giant manmade lake. Yet once again, it's operating exactly the opposite of your prediction: lots of water, hot temp, low rainfall.
  23. The entire NWA thing was a Vince Russo idea. Yeah, that's right. So take it a step further and ask yourself, "why?" Personally, I agree with what Cornette has said on the subject: it was all one big rib from Russo, trying to make fun of Cornette and southern-style wrestling in general, both of which he hated.
  24. Example #87432 of TNA = Scum: Apparently, Konnan has missed two dates "without notice". I guess QUITTING doesn't count as notice.

    I'm scared.

I called him once, like two years ago. Ironically, I was the one on durgz at the time, and remember none of it.
