  1. Really? Huh. Never even heard about the first one. They've done a horrible job of promoting this.

    Smackdown Spoilers For 6/30/07

Not only do I remember it, I remember Goldberg bitching about it in an interview. But compared to guys like Berg and Rhino, Edge's spear is indeed really fuckin' weak. Almost as bad as Lashley's. (Come to think of it, I really don't think that move is actually the Dominator, it's just a fuckin' powerslam.)

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Exactly. That's the secret: you can't just slap a picture of the wrestler and a catchphrase on a shirt and expect people to buy it. Most of them look like shit and I'd be embarrassed to wear them in public.
  4. They might be, but that doesn't change the fact that I couldn't care less about the Adam Pearces and Pelle Primeaus of the world. Why not have Morishima wrestle someone who actually had a shot in hell at winning the belts? Why not have any big blowoffs to any of their ongoing angles? Why not have any fuckin' swerves or surprises (besides Austin Aries, who means absolutely zero to casual wrestling fans)? They didn't do anything special. It was booked like Just Another Show instead of the spectacular blowaway supershow that a company's first outing on PayPerView needs to be.

    Sid Vicious update

Yeah, he can still do the powerbomb, but then again he couldn't ever do a hell of a lot besides that anyway. He was the Batista of the 90s.

    The Baconator

Aside from the Hardee's Triple Thickburger, the JITB UBCB is indeed the greatest sandwich sold by a fast-food chain in the north american continent. Wendy's used to be the BEST burger joint around. But am I correct in thinking that the size of their meat patties has shrunk, they always over-salt their fries now to a McDonalds level, and they almost exclusively hire all their employees from straight outta the ghetto? No fuckin' wonder they're in trouble.

WWE General Discussion for June 2007

Actually, that could work. Back in the days of the Monday Nite Wars, if you showed up to a WWF event in a WCW t-shirt or vice-versa, they'd usually give you a hometown shirt to wear over it. Of course, that was then, this is now, and if you show up wearing a murderer's merchandise you might get thrown out or just severely beaten.
  8. You're wrong. Don't forget Fabulous Moolah and May Young. (Which makes it even more sad.) Really? Where was that posted? (Please don't tell me in the Torch's money=grubbing VIP room.) It's the first I've heard of such allegations.

OAO ECW on Sci Fi thread - 06/26/07

Yeah, I know the WWE was in a tough spot, but it makes zero sense to give Nitro the belt. He's known as a tag-team wrestler. And ever since Mercury got fired, he's done nothing but lose, lose, and lose. And suddenly outta nowhere this jobber gets what's supposedly a "World Championship"? And then gets beaten in his very next match by a "real" world champion? This makes the ECW title look way, way cheaper than any of the Vince bullshit ever did. It's stupid, and makes the ECW brand's top title look like the old European belt in terms of prestige. So... winning and losing don't matter? Nitro looks better by getting beaten than by beating someone? Hello Russo, hadn't seen you around in a while.

OAO ECW on Sci Fi thread - 06/26/07

So now some complete stranger who just joined this board is explaining to me exactly what my understanding of wrestling is. Groovy. Sting going 45 minute broadway with Flair, THAT'S "the rub". Nitro getting beaten and pinned just like everyone else? How does that make him look tougher? Yes, he lasted longer than Khali. That's because the WWE refuses to let a Khali match go more than a few minutes, with good reason. They really don't have SHIT for babyface challengers. Punk is the only one. Dreamer and Mahoney are just jobbers now, and everyone else on the show is a damn heel. They're gonna have to either turn someone (but who?) or import someone from another brand.
  11. ...yeesh, what an underwhelming PPV. ROH already had major roadblocks between them and success on this puppy: the different PPV airdates on different cable companies, the seeming complete lack of a marketing campaign, so forth and so on. And now they come out with a flat, standard, Non Bigtime Show card like that? I care nothing whatsoever about seeing half of those matches. Compared to all the hype and planning that went into something like Barely Legal, this looks more like the WOW ppv instead.

...actually, the pain would be about equal. Tori and Nicole are only two of the various redheads I worship from a(very)far.

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

Wow, Vader, I'm a goddamned uncaring sociopath in these matters, and that got even me to go "Damn, that's a little stiff".

The current crop of WWE TV writers weren't around for the first example, and have never remotely heard of the second.

Nitro "got the rub" by getting pinned cleanly? In his first ever title defense? After putting on a lackluster performance that made me wonder if he was legit sick or injured? And let's not forget Cena doing a complete no-sell Hulk Up spot too. They shouldn't have booked the brand new ECW champion against the no-lose-cruise Cena in the first place.

Goddammit Vitamin, between this and the film production, quit living out all my fantasies.
  17. I still love watching the Naked Gun movies, even though I know what he did. I agree. If anything, OJ's role is only made better. Same here. OJ plays a fuckup who constantly gets beaten half to death, what's not enjoyable about that? The Fragile X syndrome stuff was already discussed by me & various others, a couple pages back.
  18. Here's some fuel for the fire: Daniel, the dead child, was retarded. Apparently he suffered from an inherited disease called Fragile X syndrome. This explains his unusually small size and oddly shaped head, and provides a little backstory as to why Benoit was injecting him with human growth hormone. (Not GOOD backstory, not an excuse, but an explanation.) Also, just speculation, but it could've been something that added more stress onto Chris and Nancy's marriage, having to take care of a disabled kid. EDIT: damn, how'd they beat me by like two minutes? Yes. I forget the name, but it was back in the 80s and the guy was a jobber. He died... and they showed him doing a stretcher job on syndicated TV like a week later. Whether it's spelled with an E or an F, it's still Crazy Greedy Vince in charge.
  19. Alright, time to weigh in on some of the dumbassery from this thread. I'll give myself a break and only go back five pages. "This whole yanking merchandise and apologizing for the tribute show is crazy. The guy deserves to be remembered. His final hours and actions were the result of a mental condition that may or may not be influenced by steriods." Yes, he deserves to be remember. And he will. As a guy who murdered his wife and child. "It was only a matter of time before the rampant steroid and drug use in wrestling led to something like this. Sure, the many deaths from within the business were horrible, but now it's impacted innocents, and that should be enough for people to look inside themselves and ask why they're helping support an industry that basically forces reckless drug abuse on its workers." Nobody forced them to be wrestlers. And if steroid use was inevitably going to cause violent murder, why is this the first time it's done so, when steroids have been widely abused in wrestling for decades? "If he had just snapped and killed both in the span of a few minutes that would be at least somewhat understandable." No, it wouldn't be. Murder's murder, regardless of how premeditated it was. "Maybe Chris and Nancy had a arguement, maybe he shoved her or something to that affect and she maybe hit her head on a table or something which caused her to bleed, she was already dead, he put the cord around her, binded her up and left her there. Then he goes into Daniels room, thinking that he would be in a better place and that he would hate him for killing his mother, and killed him." Double wrong. The police said in the press conference that Nancy died by strangling. And Benoit waited an entire day after that until he killed the kid too. "You should be directing your anger and frustration to WWE and Benoit's "friends". By the accounts that are coming out, Benoit's mind had been in a dark, dark place for a long time. Ask yourself this question, why did no one ever do anything to help him? If he was in this condition for years, then WHY did anyone never raise their voice and say "Benoit needs help"? Why didn't they know? Is it because they didn't know (highly unlikely), didn't think Benoit was capable of such a thing (maybe), or they were simply afraid of either upsetting Benoit, or getting bad publicity? Ask yourself that." So did you miss the tributes where different people talked about how private, quiet, and closed-off Benoit was? And it's pretty obvious that even his friends didn't know, Chavo apparently stayed the night with them a week ago and didn't notice anything wrong. "Well, Nancy Grace did her usual bit concerning the Benoit story, pushing the steroids angle and blasting WWE for doing a tribute show" Yeah, what a raging bitch. Her entire act is self-righteous moral outrage, "Won't someone PLEASE think of the children!" bullshit. "Vince needs to apologize tonight, on Smackdown, and on Raw, for the tribute show." He is. "Chris Benoit should then never be mentioned again on WWE television. Nor should his matches ever be released on another DVD." Should we ban showing Nazis in movies and recall Schindlers List while we're at it? How about outlawing showing the Naked Gun flicks on TV cuz of OJ?
  20. EXACTLY. Has anyone here ever had a conversation with Chris Benoit that was deeper than an autograph signing gab session "hey man I really like your work"? I doubt it. We didn't know this man. Didn't know anything about him, other than he was good at professional wrestling. If he really did kill them? Fuck him. Burn in hell. I'll still watch his matches on tape, I'm sociopathic like that, but all in all, burn in fuckin' hell.

    RIP Nancy "Woman" Daus

Posts in the Benoit threads: 5000. Posts in this thread: 5. Man, that's sad. My favorite Nancy stuff was, probably like most people, when she was managing Sandman. Her acting like she was orgasming while Sandy was caning the shit out of Tommy Dreamer was gold.
  22. Someone before asked for a source stating where the bodies were found. Yeah, that's why I posted it, to show the TMZ thing had its facts wrong.

Teenage girl loses feet at Six Flags

Jesus, she got her FEET RIPPED OFF, give the poor kid a break. Fucking A right Six Flags should have to pay anyone they permanently cripple, maim, and/or mutilate enough money that she never has to work again. Huh. That's a lot like a story idea I had not too long ago, about a female firefighter with massive burns covering half her body, and a fireman who falls in lust with her because of them. ...I really wanna nail a girl in a wheelchair someday. Just sayin'.
  24. According to Meltzer.

Boyfriend of missing pregnant woman held for murder

Sadly, I now doubt that anyone on this board other than Yuna gives a flying fuck about this particular spouse/child killing anymore.
