To all the people who hate on the Joe/Sabu match: Sabu is middle-aged, had a badly broken arm, and spent the entire day of the show stuck in airports due to flight delays and didn't even get to the building until bell time. AND he knew he was getting jobbed out cuz of the new ECW thing starting up. Under the circumstances, he delivered a damn fine performance.

I've still never seen Battle Royale, cuz it never got a proper US distribution and I don't have the money to waste on Ebay. Ironically, I've got a Battle Royale ripoff movie called Kill Devil from Blockbuster that I haven't watched yet.

Yeah, you're right, I retract my choice, that match might just be my favorite wrestling contest of all time. Still, I think anyone who legit believed that Benoit was gonna make Trips tap at Mania is an overly optimistic person. That's back when nobody but Goldberg had pried HHH's hands off the belt for a year and a half and he was at the highest point of his ego trip, and even GB's reign was like a month long. For me, it was the king mark-out moment of all moments.

Mark me down in the "not clicking that link" column. Fur is an unnecessary luxury. We can make synthetics that do the same job without scalping it off the living hide of some critter. And if you MUST kill animals for their skin, is it that hard to actually, y'know, KILL them before cutting it off? Doing it while they're still alive is too cruel. As to the food industry: well, in some ways the factory cows have it easier than they would in the wild; guaranteed food, no predators, modern medicine, etc. Until they're killed and harvested for their flesh of course. But it tastes too damn good for me to stop eating meat just because of the ethical issues. I'm more worried about cruelty to humans than to animals.

Man, bob, I don't know why, but it seems like you and me have completely opposite tastes when it comes to what entertains us. The interaction between the guys and girls was funny, but all in all it wasn't THAT important a plot point and could've been trimmed. True, but I just don't agree with what they spent time on and what they cut. The Crouch subplot was very interesting and helped the book's feeling of uncertainty and shades of grey, and the movie dumbed it way down. I'm just imagining all the howls of rage from the kids and fanboys when it cut to black right after Fudge released the snitch. It does become important later, trust me. I understand you don't read the books until the movie comes out, I kinda wish I could do that too, but you have to admit that out of the two of us I'm arguing from a more informed perspective here. Huh? The book GOF's ending was one of the best parts of the series. The movie did try to pretty it up with the final scene and phony "uplifting" music. I know exactly how hard it is. I used to be an amateur screenwriter. I wrote two full-length movies and a bunch of shorter stuff before finally quitting due to being frustrated with my own lack of talent. Believe me, it IS hard. But I just don't like how this guy did his job.

The last five minutes of the Wrestlemania XX main event, hands-down. Benoit making HHH tap when NOBODY really expected it, at the end of a fucking awesome match, at the end of an excellent show. Unparalleled in modern wrestling history.

You guys trying to derail this thread is ghey. "Hey, this thread sucks. I hate that it sucks. Let's make it suck EVEN MORE!" And considering that it's brought me priceless moments of amusement like seeing those anime pics and finding out that Bob Jr. might be giving Juventud hepatitis by fisting him with his cast, this thread don't suck at all.

I finally saw GOF, and man this was a hatchet-job. I understand the need to cut a lot out of an 800-page book to make it fit into one movie, but they cut a LOT out, stuff that was really important to the plot of the later books. And it was done in such a ham-handed manner, where stuff that didn't really need to go long went FOREVER (the three Triwizard tasks, the dancing, Harry in the bath, explaining the Unforgivable Curses, etc) while so much other stuff got cut out that would've only required a few scant seconds to stick back in, especially the backstory about the Crouches. And some of the stuff they changed just didn't make sense: why were all the monsters and challenges in the final maze replaced by Evil Moving Shrubbery? Why bother taking ten minutes to set up the world quidditch cup, only to skip the actual match? What about the backstory on Hagrid's family tree, since that stuff becomes important later on? Why was the Empire Strikes Back-ish uncertain ending changed to a lame tries-to-be-happy generic finish? Why not mention Snape's duties he's told to perform at the end, since that becomes REALLY fucking important later? Thank god that screenwriter Steven Kloves isn't doing the next movie, cuz he really made hamburger out of the book's original plot and dialogue. That being said, I loved Ralph Fiennes, he was perfect, saved the movie in my opinion. Also: the DVD is a piece of bare-bones worthless fucking shit, it has NO extras whatsoever.

Usually BTIHARTB means just what it sounds like, that the match shouldn't have had a chance of being as good as it turns out to be. Sometimes that means a match that should've sucked being decent (like, Kane vs. Albert) or it could be a match that should've been just average turning out to be great (Hogan vs. Rock).

I'm not surprised the numbers dropped, cuz that just wasn't a good show, plain and simple. There were a lot of major flaws here, not just a couple, but a LOT. I bet I can list a baker's dozen of them: 1. Having every match be a big multi-person tag makes the show awfully repetitive. "Aw man, ANOTHER six-man tag? Let's see what's on Adult Swim." It's a good way to get as many people on the show as possible, but bad for providing a variety of different kinds of actions. 2. Speaking of getting all those people on the show: TNA just employs too many wrestlers, period. On a one-hour show, they have TWENTY people actually wrestling in matches, plus managers, promos, run-ins, and all that, and there's still a couple dozen regular characters who don't even get airtime? Cut your losses and cut your roster. There's no way to make people care about any single wrestler, they'll get lost in the massive pool of talent. 3. Team Canada going over via shenanigans: YAWN. There's no "heat" there, it's just "aw crap not AGAIN, let's see what's on the news". 4. As per usual, the X-Division flippy-floppy spots looked contrived and choreographed. They looked like crappy lucha matches on Galavision, with too much running around and bullshit reversals. There's no sense of violent people trying to beat each other up. 5. Alex Shelley is the only guy on the Team America roster who even HAS a character. The others are all bland, interchangeable personalities who have no motivation or backstory. And for that matter, why does Shelley even WANT to be in this tournament? Why does he want to represent a team he obviously doesn't even like? Shouldn't he be off filming his Horseman knockoff home videos of Sting and Christian? 6. Larry Zybysco's promo segment was the very definition of "waste of time". It wasn't entertaining. It didn't advance any storylines at all. All it did was tease us with maddening hints of something that MIGHT happen (new talent, Raven, etc) and feature a lot of really bad overacting and terrible "comedy". 7. Diamonds in the Rough vs. Team Former Champions Who'll Never Get The Belt Back probably had the best action of the night. Too bad the Diamonds are portrayed as total jobbers with no hope of winning. Also, why are the three babyfaces teaming together with Sting at Lockdown, beyond "well they hate Jarrett too"? 8. Christian hasn't wrestled ONCE on TV since getting the belt. And none of his promos have been any good. And Abyss beats him up AGAIN. And why didn't he call the cops on those guys who broke into his house? Total cruise-control booking that makes him look like a paper champion. 9. AMW vs. Dudleys... boy, never seen this match before. 10. Spike being back is cool. Spike being back NOW with no explanation why he left his "brothers" to get the shit beat out of them on a weekly basis for MONTHS and never helped them til last week is not so cool. And Spike's new name is the very definition of Not Fucking Cool. 11. A Jeff Jarrett match that has a bunch of run-ins and interference, ending in a bullshit non-finish with no closure or telling us definitively which wrestlers are the better competitors? The hell you say. "Aw man, Jarrett doesn't get his ass kicked AGAIN, fuck the pay-per-view, I'm gonna watch Family Guy or Sopranos." 12. Sting does his run-in on the nWo Team Jarrett and is about to get beat up again before Savage, Luger, and DDP Rhino, Truth, and AJ come out to save him. Followed by a big general clusterfuck and the show fades to black while the announcer yells "Oh my god, it's chaos! It's crazy! What's going on?! Be sure to order the PPV!!!" Sound familiar? 13. And is it just me, or does TNA seem to take a LOT more commercial breaks and spend less time on actual wrestling than even Raw does?

Bump Team Japan update - Team Japan in the World X Cup will be Jushin Liger, Black Tiger, Minoru Tanaka and Hirooki Goto, with the latter three appearing on Lockdown and at the Monday iMPACT! taping. Liger is great, Tanaka is good, I've never even heard of Goto, and is this the Black Tiger that stunk up the ROH cruiser tournament?

They just keep coming only because most zombie flicks force their heroes to confront dozens if not hundreds of the damn things one way or another. If you can manage to secure the top floor of a building and then block the stairs, you'd be safe. The only way that individual zombies could be a threat to a competent person are if they're Smart Zombies (LotD), Fast Zombies (28 Days Later, DotD remake), or Specialty Non-Rules-Following Zombies (RotLD series, Evil Dead). The standard slow dumb stumbling kind can't really hurt you unless you make a bigass mistake or there's just a hundred of them.
