Okay, I'm not even sure exactly what we're arguing about anymore. My head hurts. Paradigm shift: how about we replace the word "fault" with "catalyst"? In your example, Mike, if I changed my behavior (sped up) or if I wasn't there at all, the guy wouldn't be mad. Mathematically speaking, that does mean that I am the variable in this equation, and that the guy behind me is the constant. Ergo, the fact that I exist and am driving a car at 70 MPH in this apparently one-lane interstate is the reason why this guy is mad.

I'm not talking about the characters in the show. I'm talking about how the writers had Connor kill a lot of people, and then just kinda forgot about it. On a Joss Whedon show, killing an innocent human being is a big deal. It pretty much labels the murderer as EVIL if there weren't any extenuating circumstances like mind control spells or whatever. Willow spent an entire year "rehabilitating" over the death of one loathesome murderer who certainly had it coming. Connor sacrifices an innocent virgin and it's literally never mentioned again. I'm just trying to point out the double standard here.

My point is, Connor did a lot of bad shit and not only was he not punished for it, nobody even called him on it. Some would say that by killing Jasmine, Connor had washed himself clean of his sins. I don't buy it. He still had a lot of blood on his hands, and he basically got away with it.

Whether it was known or not doesn't matter to me. The fact is that the writers never dealt with it. Did Xander hate Spike & Angel because they were vampires? Or because they were Buffy's boyfriends? Or did he just happen to coincedentally hate both of these individuals? That's a point that was never addressed, and would've been in my ending thingie, but like I said before, me internet nobody, me not hollywood screenwriter.
