Johhny English: 3/10 This dumbass spy-parody movie would irredeemably suck if it weren't for Rowan Atkinson, who is one of the funniest sumbitches alive and would be hilarious even as King Lear. On the other hand, John Malkovich's career seems deader than Malcolm McDowell's based on his performance here. Noises Off: 8/10 Anyone who's ever suffered the unique experience of being in a crappy play with a bunch of neurotic actors will cherish this flick, even if it is a bit goofy and overlong. But with Michael Caine, John Ritter, Christopher Reeve, Julie Haggerty, Nicolette Sheridan, Denholm Elliot, and Shirley MacClaine all in the same movie, it's hard to go wrong. Collateral: 7/10 A step backwards for Michael Mann, as this flick certainly ain't no Heat. But still worth seeing for good performances from both Cruise and Foxx. Bubba Ho-Tep: 6/10 Bruce Campbell as Elvis (in present day) battling a mummy in a retirement home. If that description doesn't hook you, then the movie won't either. Not bad, but surprisingly depressing at times. EDIT: out of all the movies listed on this page, Aguirre: The Wrath Of God will kick your ass so hard, your children will be born with bruises.

You don't see why convicted criminals might lie about the people keeping them imprisoned? Hooray for Graner's conviction though, as it seemed that he was one sick fuck.

Half a bottle of Tussin, eh? What size bottle, though? (Just wondering, since I've ingested so much cold medicine thru my life that an entire bottle of DayQuil does nothing whatsoever, and Nyquil just puts me to sleep.)

You took the words right outta my mouth. I don't understand how Fallon stayed on SNL this long without getting fired. I mean, it seems like the man cracks up laughing and breaks character in damn near every skit he's ever been in. That's terribly unprofessional.

I'm just leery of people who ask for special religious privileges while they're in prison. I assume most regular prisoners don't get a break to pray five times a day or control of what foods they're given, why should Muslim detainees get any special treatment?

Well, that's your opinion, but I think Fey/Poehler is much funnier than Fey/Fallon, funnier than Dennis Miller, better than the majority of people who've ever done WU.

Point taken. Alright, rephrased: I think America has one of the best human rights records over the past few decades of any large, wealthy country which is heavily involved in global affairs, militarily or otherwise.

Huh? Her and Amy are easily the most entertaining Weekend Update version at least since Norm MacDonald, and maybe further back than that.

Yeah, Krystal is the exact same thing as White Castle, don't listen to anyone who claims that one is vastly superior to the other. Weird coincedence: my sister-in-law is named Krystal, and she grew up in Georgia, not too far from Macon...

Stole the words right outta my mouth. We have evidence that she CAN play the drums; meanwhile, there has been no evidence presented that she CAN'T play the drums. Ergo, until further evidence is introduced, I'll go with assuming that she is a real drummer.

I liked Smashing Machine a lot, and give it mucho credit for one scene in particular: they actually showed the fighter shooting up with steroids. I've never seen any sports documentary in history that actually showed and discussed steroid use; even Beyond the Mat didn't do that.

Do you think the various Iraqis who are kidnapping and beheading people are respectful of their victims' religious beliefs? Wrong. "Appalling" would be the genocide going on in Sudan right now, or the atrocity-of-the-week in Somalia, or the several Muslim countries which deny basic human rights to the entire female half of the population, or various child-labor sweatshops around the world, or anyone who uses suicide bombers. Taking naked pictures of convicted felons at Abu Gharib is hardly "appalling" by those standards. Yeah. We can. And incidentally, I agree with you on not torturing detainees and that it's wrong to hold people without charging them with any crimes. But I think America over the past few decades has maybe the BEST record on human rights in the world.

I still stand behind my Hogan vs. New Jack idea, as that's a match that I would pay any amount of money to see.

Maybe that Harry is wearing the uniform of a group of people who literally tried to wipe Britain off the face of the planet and killed thousands of English citizens along the way?

What's the true meaning, your definition I mean? Cuz I think that reality TV tends to work under Heisenberg's rules: if you point a camera at a situation, the fact that the camera is there tends to change the situation.

If every reality show except Viva La Bam vanished off the face of the earth tomorrow, I for one would be doing Numfar's Dance Of Joy.

It's always July 4, 1859 here in good ol' Tennessee.

HBK/HHH wasn't the worst HIAC, no, but then again what match could possibly grab that title away from Taker/Bossman? (Or Snow/Bossman, if you count it, since the cell was involved.) But it was REALLY long and slow. I fell asleep the first two times I tried to watch this match. I'm not joking, I actually lost conciousness and started snoring on the couch because it was so plodding. And this is coming from a man who will watch half-hour Bob Backlund matches from the 70s and be greatly entertained. The Benoit/Kane match was really good though, and yet another example of why Benoit is still the best carrier in the WWE and why Kane isn't THAT bad (could you imagine, say, Luther Reigns being in a match this good?).

Once again: if the Iraq war was a grab for oil, then it was a VERY poorly executed one, as it would take YEARS and YEARS for the US to steal enough of it to simply break even on this war.

You really don't want to start this argument here, it went on for pages and pages in the "Bible is literal truth" thread in Hardcore, just look that one up instead of beginning a clone of it.

What about Hogan & Flair vs. Rock & Foley? There's a money match just begging to happen, with all the controversy over Flair's book, plus yet another Rock-n-Sock reunion is always fun.

The WMDs claim has always been my biggest problem with the war. I think it was a flimsy excuse at best, and pure lying bullshit at worst. There's never been enough evidence to back this claim, yet it was dragged out again and again as justification for the invasion. And I think that going into Iraq and removing Saddam from power was a GOOD thing. Saddam's constant and consistent human rights violations and blatant disregard for UN regulations should've been reason enough; instead, we kept insisting that the WMDs were a clear and present danger, and now we all look like fucking idiots because of it. EDIT: no, for the hundredth time, it wasn't about the oil. We've spent billions of dollars to tear down and rebuild the entire country. Even if Iraq gave us their entire oil output for free from now on (which certainly won't happen), it'd be several years before we made it all back.
