    Mom sucks baby's wee wee

I've never quite understood the "women are never funny" meme. Uh... why? When I pose that question to anyone of that opinion, they always go "man, they just aren't, period" with no further analysis. Then half the time they'll talk about something Adam Sandler did that made them laugh their ass off.
  2. Ain't that the truth. I've read countless books which included shit which would've caused riots if you'd shown it onscreen. Especially in graphic novels, come to think of it. Compare the movie version of Wanted to the original comic sometime. Or consider Preacher, which HBO was thinking of making an adaptation of, but they passed cuz it was too disturbing; this is the same channel which aired Oz. And finally, well, let's just say that whenever Watchmen finally comes out I'm fully expecting a rightwing backlash against it in this post-9/11 world.
  3. Jesus, what a bunch of whining syphilitic twats. Check out some of these golden quotes: So they apparently truly believe that a massive epidemic which suddenly deprives normally-sighted people of their vision would somehow not cause panic? Shut the fuck up and go sell your cup of pencils, you point-missing bastards. (And how did the blindos who couldn't see the movie they were "watching" still end up offended by it?)

    Notorious BIG biopic

Depends. Do you count the more out-there works of Spike Lee? He tries to be artsy... operative word being "tries"... always thought he did better when just sticking to a straightforward story. I was trying to think of some more examples, and thought "well gee, there's the Hughes Brothers, what was their arty-fartiest movie?". After a brief moment's thought, the clear answer was... From Hell. The one with no black people in it. Man, us white folk really do have the market cornered on cinematic pretension.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised if they specifically tried to hire girls who would sleep with the boys, just like the WWE does with its Divas today (ALLEGEDLY).

McCain: Instead of emergency room, go to Wal-Mart

Hope they have one hellacious firewall. Cuz, having everyone's medical records in one place, yikes, hacker bonanza. Not to mention possible abuse via crooked doctors or anyone else who has access to it. It would be incredibly convenient and speed things up if you could make it secure, but that's a big if.

McCain: Instead of emergency room, go to Wal-Mart

There are Walgreens and CVS with medical clinics inside them? Really? All the ones I've been to are just miniature grocery stores attached to a pharmacy.

Impact goes live for one night only on 10/23

Not a big deal, they just seem like they're afraid of not filling up a bigger room. Which is kinda justified, seeing as how they never seem to sell out any building anywhere, and sometimes not even half of it for their house shows.
  9. I had two of 'em. I started re-reading one a little while ago, and quickly stopped. At least on the first couple pages, the writing ain't so good. Also, it's told in Sookie's first-person view, which makes me wonder how/if all those scenes without her went down in the book.

Impact goes live for one night only on 10/23

Out of the several million arenas and ballrooms and theaters and such in Vegas, they choose to run at Hard Rock? Huh. How many people does this venue seat?

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

Yeah, an awesome heel. Which in no way explains how the Chicago crowd started giving her such massive cheers. I can't think of any other time when Trish as a babyface got booed; how was she being a bitch? I never said you're supposed to wanna see two dudes riding the hershey highway. If you're a heterosexual man, obviously that is not something which appeals to you. I just think there really is an odd double standard in society regarding gay vs lesbian behavior, or at least as long as the lesbians are hot. Like I mentioned earlier: the Trish/Mickie mistletoe kiss was endlessly replayed in the Raw opening video package for months on end. Could you imagine the same thing happening with two dudes kissing? Hell, the Billy & Chuck angle never went that explicitly far in terms of what they showed onscreen, even while they were doing the HLA shit at the same time. Boy hasn't it. How the hell did we get here?

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

And when I ask why, nobody can explain it. I don't mean "why do guys like watching girls lez out". That's obvious. I mean why there seems to be this cultural implication that it's more acceptable for females to do so than males. Unless they're the stereotypical ugly bulldykes, of course, then they go back to being objects of mockery and scorn.

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

She was a fucking maniac. She stalked Trish at every opportunity. Trish told her over and over that there was no interest, but Mickie just kept coming. She repeatedly physically attacked her without mercy. Started dressing like her in a Single White Female manner, like she wanted to erase Trish and take her place. Kidnapped Trish's boyfriend, then physically assaulted him. Was completely insane, causing harm and misery to multiple people who just wanted her to go away. How is that an "awesome" character? See? Exactly what I'm talking about. You've got nothing here, no argument whatsoever, so "you're wrong!" is all you come back with.

The Return of the Worked Shoot

Comments like "we have too many gimmick matches" and "I want to put over more young talent". Oh yeah. Seeth-worthy shit right there. There are reasons why I hate this company.

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

That it's kinda sexist, maybe? Girls don't get off watching two gay guys cornhole each other like that. Would a mano y mano kiss have made it into the Raw intro video like the Mickie/Trish one did? I admit to finding some lez play just as hot as the next heterosexual dude, but it's one of those things that I don't understand why most guys just think is natural. Like lesbians are supposed to be objectively hot, and male fags aren't. The old "all girls are bi" cliche fits into it too. Feels very much like something a male-dominated culture would've invented. And any time you even question it, guys look at you like you're crazy. Ask them to provide a concrete reason why bumping donuts is sexy while swordfighting isn't, they're usually reduced to "well it just is!" and calling you a homo.

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

Yeah I'm serious. Goldust did similar shit, stalking Razor Ramon and such, and it made him the most controversial heel in the business. Suddenly change it to a woman who's making unwanted advances on someone of the same sex, and it's all cool? That's a pretty hefty double standard.

    TNA Impact Spoilers for 9/25

The booking was a little weird, but Mickie was still portrayed as a complete psychopath, a dangerous lunatic with self-delusions and stalker behavior. (If people cheered just because of the lesbian angle, it just proves how homophobic the guys in the audience are; imagine them doing the same storyline with two men.) And I don't remember Mickie ever being cheered like that before Wrestlemania, the crowds usually seemed firmly on Trish's side.

    SHoot interview mp3's

Besides, the guys who used to post those, well, just don't anymore. Something about them getting them from another forum, and that place was shut down, iirc. Whatever the reason, they don't seem to have access to them anymore.

Huh. A guy with only one post is asking us for pirated material. "Hey kids, do you know where I can score some illegal drugs? Don't worry, I'm cool!"

The Return of the Worked Shoot

I'm almost certain it was Angle/Joe 1, but don't remember the exact number. Somewhere between 60K-90K, I think.

The Return of the Worked Shoot

I dunno, completely different time and character, but I doubt it. Hulk Hogan sure did a lot of goofy comedy during his heyday. The Rock, Foley, HHH, and Cena all did plenty too. Didn't stop them. Once again, I ask, in what specific way do you think Angle has been hurt by the comedy? Exactly what would he have accomplished if he'd stayed Lance Storm serious that he didn't as it was?

    Campaign 2008

    1. The Soviets were not fighting the Taliban. Some of the mujahideen fighters did go on to become Taliban members, but the group itself didn't exist during the Soviet conflict. 2. We did go in, blow up a bunch of stuff, and claim victory. Very quickly, in fact. It took us like a month to destroy their regime. We did in weeks what the USSR couldn't do in years. 3. We did stay, and stay, and stay some more. We've had troops there from 2001 onwards. 4. However, we've had a much smaller number of troops there than in Iraq. Which is one reason many people point to when questioned why the Taliban insergency is making a fairly strong comeback. Here we toppled a brutal dictatorial government and replaced it with a democracy. Unfortunately, we haven't kept a close eye on it, and the old bad guys are trying to regain power. The illegal heroin trade has also skyrocketed there in recent years. This isn't a situation like Iraq where our wanton destruction and fuckups have actively made the situation worse. There's no raging multi-side civil war here. If anything, it's our neglect which has caused the circumstances to be worse than they could be. And you just want us to pull out, abandon our allies there, and oh yeah give up the search for Bin Ladin while we're at it?

The Return of the Worked Shoot

So what if they didn't buy him on the very same show that they showed the footage of him crying, including a rare moment of bipartisan friendship between HHH and Foley where they mocked him together? Angle had been portrayed as nothing but a goof for his entire WWF tenure at that point. A talented goof, but a goof nonetheless. Under those circumstances, Andre wouldn't have been believable as a badass. My point is, when they changed his character into RoboAngle, the bane of ankles everywhere, his intensity was such that the crowd easily bought it. No matter how many comedic sketches he does, the audience pretty much always believes it when he comes back as a killer later on. All he has to do is go in there and headbutt someone, and presto, he's over as a serious wrestler again. And what proof is there that it's hurt him at all? I've never seen a crowd turn on him. Never seen a situation where the live audience didn't believe him as a threat to whoever his opponent was (once again, we're talking after the initial couple years of pure comedy). I see zero justification about how he's supposed to have been buried by doing the funny stuff, since I see no evidence that it's actually caused him any real damage.

The Return of the Worked Shoot

That one's arguable. They'd already had Sting around parttime for years, doing not much good. Angle came in and instantly popped a relatively big buyrate for his first match with Joe, and the ratings rose a little bit while he was there. I don't think that's true at all. Angle did plenty of goofy comedy in his early years in the WWF, in fact was almost totally a comedic character up until 2001 or so. The audiences still didn't have any problem buying him as a badass after that. Aside from the fact that all he has to do is throw a bunch of suplexes and break someone's ankle and suddenly he's a menace again, being a legit olympic gold medalist in wrestling does carry more street cred than some smarks seem to realize.
  25. "Little" is the operative word. At some point about a decade back, Kitano was in a motorcycle wreck which ended up paralyzing all the muscles on one side of his face. The old joke ever since then has been that nobody can tell which side. If you're interested, here's a few more: Sonatine: probably my favorite of his work Brother: not his best, but interesting to see how he does a half-American movie Fireworks: his most critically acclaimed, though I found it pretty confusing Boiling Point: see Fireworks, remove "critically acclaimed", double "confusing" Battle Royale: he didn't direct it, but he's one of the lead stars, and everyone should see this movie anyway
