Plenty of mainline Protestants would disagree with that. But that's beside the point, because it Paul's case it sounds like he kept getting pissed off at his current sect for something, jumping to another one, wash rinse repeat. It's understandable that someone changes their mind about stuff like that as they get older, but belonging to four different branches seems odd to me.

So, just summing up. Ron Paul: -Thinks 19 out of 20 black people are literally retards, criminals, and maybe monkeys. -Says that it's Evil Whitey's fault they got that way. -When asked about those comments later, claimed someone else said them. Refused to say who. -Thinks evolution is false. -Has run for president before. Lost. Badly. Received less than 1% of the vote. -In that election, he ran under the Libertarian banner... while still a registered Republican. Huh? -Somehow went from being a combat surgeon to being a gynecologist. -Is from Texas. (Is there a less appealing state for any candidate to hail from at this point?) -Once considered becoming a Lutheran minister. Was married in a Presbyterian church. Had his kids baptized Episcopalian. Now goes to a Baptist church. Huh? -Named his first son after himself, Ron Paul Jr. Never a good sign. -Is kinda wishy-washy on several issues: abortion, gay marriage, the environment, stem cells, etc. Resorts to the "the states should decide for themselves" cop-out a lot. Aside from the various issues I disagree with him on (of which there are many), all that stuff makes him look pretty damn goofy. What's the appeal with him, exactly? His main platform seems to be "cut taxes, end the war, Big Brother is bad". Nothing terribly unique or revolutionary there.

One big problem with a character like Black Reign is that Dustin simply isn't a good enough actor to pull it off. His wacky overacting worked for a wacky character like Goldust, but he doesn't have the chops to make a spilt-personality gimmick believable. When he claims he has no idea who Black Reign is, and the announcers try to sell it like he's got some serious mental illness, it's just so corny and awful. Gail/Kong sounded like it ruled. Otherwise, well, here's some quotes from Meltzer's report: Only one word comes to mind: CLASSY~! Isn't Russo just AWESOME. Christ this company sucks. Oh yeah, the very best part: Nice to see that TNA has returned to its roots and is again having a midget jerk off on PPV.

I read the entire script for the go-home show before the PPV, and you know what? I can't remember a single scheduled match. Have no idea what the card is. Example of TNA sucking: who's challenging for the tag belts? Either Road Dogg or Billy Gunn, forget which, won the briefcase title shot, and of course we instantly get a "Russo: tag partners don't get along" angle. Also think I recall Cornette ruling that Nash and Joe would have to team up for another title shot, which is ANOTHER R:t.p.d.g.a. And then they had that tag-team gauntlet thing too... so do they have three different #1 contenders for the tag belts? Hell, who ARE the tag champions? Is it still AJ and Tomko? If so, those boys have a lot on their plates, with six guys chasing their belts AND the whole Angle vs. Christian crap. And what happened to them feuding with the Steiners, and them feuding with LAX? Both dropped and vanished without a trace. Within a day or two, all the PPV matches will be posted on Youtube. Whatever the women's title match is, I will watch that. That is the extent of me caring about this show in any positive way.

Impact spoilers (airs December 27th and January 3rd)
Jingus replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in TNA Wrestling
The biggest problem with the whole contendership thing is that they've never, not once, even attempted to explain exactly WHEN the briefcase winners will get their title shots. It's been completely ignored. I can't even begin to imagine how anyone could justify this as being good booking. It's like one of those "NWO wins a title shot, uh, whenever" angles that WCW slit their own throats with a decade back. -
Spears Family to appear on Dr. Phil
Jingus replied to milliondollarchamp's topic in Television & Film
I'd take a shot at it. I've had enough experience with crazy women. And none of them were rich. Do you ever look at Dr. Phil's giant forehead and wonder which specific sort of weapon you'd most like to strike it with? I do that occasionally. What an arrogant cocksucker he is. -
Terribly inaccurate wrestling predictions you made
Jingus replied to King Kamala's topic in General Wrestling
They will never, ever put John Cena in the position to be booed out of the building and lose his title in a crappy match against RVD at One Night Stand 2. Never, EVAH~! I actually thought having TNA around would help the local Nashville indy scene. How wrong we all were. -
WWE General Discussion - January 2008

Any time I think of house shows, I think of one spectacularly awful WCW show I went to in 2000. The main event was Flair vs. Nash, and despite how much I've always fucking hated Nash, I was happy about getting to see Flair wrestle live. Well, problem: this was right after Nash became the heel commissioner, so he makes a ruling before the match that the figure-four leglock was banned. The bell rings, and man this match sucks. Nash literally didn't take a single bump, and it was nothing but him slowly kicking Flair's ass for five minutes. Then Flair made a micro-comeback out of nowhere and put on the figure-four. So he was disqualified, and lost the match. Nash and Jeff Jarrett stomped on him for a minute, and then just walked off. SHOW OVER. I still can't believe the awesome condescension displayed by that company, killing the crowd with a main event like that. Then again, I also got to see Daffney live for the first time. So I guess it all evened out. -

House shows can be great, action-filled shows with plenty of wrestling and lots of laid-back goofiness which the pressure of TV doesn't allow. They can also be boring shows with thoughtless "it doesn't matter" booking and lazy, halfassed performances. Really a matter of luck whether you get a good one or not. Why did the heels win in the majority of the matches? Seriously, count it up. Out of nine matches, five heels went over, compared to three babyfaces. Oh, and one total no-name jobber. WTF? -

Really, what happened there? (I just started posting on DVD recently and it's... unique.) So is EHME/CB here the only one who didn't get the not-serious tone in my post? After all, it's statistically impossible for you ALL to be homos, so clearly I was joking to some extent. Meanwhile, he responded to my short quip with a long, detailed description of how I've never experienced the love of a woman. The two are not equitable. See, totally gay. -

No you're likely just some 30 something virgin who's never seen a naked female in REAL LIFE. And also has to resort to magazines like playboy to fulfill your sexual desire. I haven't bought a playboy magazine since Torrie Wilson in 2003, and I was in Gr. 10 at the time. I've never paid money for any sort of porn in my life. Nice try. What does it matter if I've never met her? I have met Mickie James. Would my opinion somehow be more valid if it was her doing the spread instead of Maria? Also, you're disqualified for using the "pathetic aging virgin geek" cliche that so many wrestlers love to utilize whenever they go on their rants about smart marks. We need some sort of new version of Godwin's Law that states the first person to refer to a complete stranger as either being a virgin or living in their mother's basement has automatically lost the arguement. -

Some of you people disappoint me so much. "It's just completely naked pictures of Maria, who cares." You're all gay. And yes, I'm fully aware that Playboy does indeed airbrush/photoshop/whatever the hell out of their pictures with a vengeance. To which I say, so what? It's the only place where you can get nudie pics of lots of the celebrities who get featured there. You're saying you'd literally rather have no nekkid Maria photos over some touched-up nekkid Maria photos? -
Homicide's a great read. Depressing sometimes, since it's all real life stories directly from the people who deal with the worst shit in the world, but very compelling stuff. They took several of the cases on the Homicide TV series directly from the book, and loosely based a few of the characters off some real cops. ...the same guy made The Wire? Damn it, now I've got to watch another TV show from start to finish on DVD. I'd heard from a lot of people that it's awesome, but that's the last straw.

Weird, I just now watched that movie for the first time. Holy Christ YES he's absolutely perfect for Rorschach. It's pretty hard for a movie to creep me out, but when he jerked off in the car while the crazy girl cried, yeah, that got me. Less sure though about Kate Winslet's lover from that movie, who's playing Nite Owl. He was okay as a loser in Little Children, but he sure did suck in Phantom of the Opera in the "regular hero guy" role. GZ, you're the first person I've ever heard say that they weren't impressed by Watchmen's ending and didn't like Veidt as the antagonist. Come to think of it, you and Marney are the only people I've ever heard express a less-than-fellatioesque opinion of the book as a whole. Has there been any sort of public discussion about how a story which includes mass devestation and death involving an attack on New York City might not play quite as well today as it did twenty years ago?
-
Completely agree (aside from having specific reasons, too many to list here). Except I somehow managed to only catch the good movies on downloads or HBO, and ended up seeing nothing but bull-shit in the theaters. Goddamn Hannibal Rising.

Yeah, because usually, TNA and ROH tend to draw about the same number of people to their respective house shows.

Interesting article here mentions a couple things I hadn't heard before. Most notably: Bhutto's own family thinks she had her brother murdered. -

Anybody got an injoke-to-English translation for that? -
Oh, there's worse out there, even in "high-class" bookstores. I worked at a Borders for a little while, and some of the employees had this running joke about one book entitled Extended MASSIVE Orgasm. Yes, the word MASSIVE was in all caps, in a bigger font than the other words. Have you ever had one of those experiences where you've read most or all of an author's catelog, and then got the best surprise possible by stumbling onto a book of theirs which you hadn't read? I just had this happen today with a random novel I thought I'd read but never had. It was by Terry Pratchett, who considering the recent reports of his alzheimers, probably isn't going to be cranking out many more Discworld books. (Personally, I thought it sort of showed in his last book Making Money, which I thought was noticeably repetitive and below Pratchett's usual standards.) It was a weird feeling, cracking open a book that I was sure I'd read, and after the first twenty pages or so suddenly realizing otherwise.

I'm going to get into another fight...
Jingus replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in No Holds Barred
Milky in a walk. Think about it: all he'd have to do is lean over to you before the bell rings and say "By the way, I jerked off a homeless guy outside the building a little while ago, and never got around to washing my hands". Instant countout win for him every time. -
Yeah, Lance Storm talked about that in one of his rants, the worst-drawing WWE PPV ever did better than the best-drawing TNA PPV. Personally, I think TNA is not well equipped to run a big show every month. They've only got two hours of TV per week to do it. WWE had five hours of television per week, and still couldn't support 16 paid shows per year. With TNA, I've completely forgotten about some of their shows, since they often tend to look alike and run together in memory. With a few of those shows, I can't remember a single thing that happened on them. I mean, c'mon, they had Angle vs. Joe four times on PPV within, what, six months?

And if you look at what I actually wrote, it includes such words as "if you believe", "sounds like", and "kinda". Not exactly BURN BHUTTO BURN LOL. I understand that point. My point is, why do you randomly assume they're lies? Yeah, I've only been on that board for a month and I really hate their CE folder already. They've got some real pussies for moderators who keep closing threads for no real reason. Funny thing: you know who's been completely forgotten in this whole debacle? The couple dozen bystanders in the crowd who were wiped out by the explosion. I haven't heard a single word about any of them. Just endless arguing over the woman who was killed by gunshots, whoops we mean by shrapnel, by which we really mean the explosion cracked her head against the roof, nevermind let's just say she impaled herself on the sunroof lever.
