Fuck giving up Cano if we try to get Zito at the deadline, if hes even being let go. With the way things are going, i see no one player being availale at the deadline worth giving up Cano.

All their stats are basically pretty equal, with Sorianos HRers towering above everyone elses, and Sorianos OBP being a bit lower.

I didn't say he wasn't. I'm just saying at the time, specifically the entire 03 playoffs, you could throw him a slider down and away, and he'd swing and miss at everyone. Not to say he hasn't improved, because he probably has.

To me, theres a difference between Cano not being disciplined at the plate, and Soriano not being disciplined at the plate. From what I've seen, Cano has a good eye, he just swings at everything close. He also doesn't swing at the Soriano slider, which is already an improvement.

Question for Al. For all the stuff on how bad the Yankees farm system is, and it is, both Cano and especailly Wang have been very impressive. From what I've seen of Cano, hes a very streaky hitter with good power to both sides of the field. Wang has a great presence, is third in the majors in 1,2,3 innings, and has been just terrific. So I'm wondering, how good can these to be in the majors?

Even though I'm a huge UCONN fan, I don't want the Knicks taking Villanueva. Hes ok, but hes not explosive, isn't really that great on offense, and I could definitley see him failing in the NBA.

I was referring to Johnson as the first baseman. Martinez really was not that bad in St. Louis. Look at his OPS+ trend. 110, 86, 115 in New York his last three seasons there. He moves to St. Louis where he posts figures 108 and 106. He declined, but that had every indication of a normal aging curve. Now he moves into a park where left handed hitters thrive, and his stock is up again. To be fair, Martinez deserves all the credit for his recent success.
