  1. You do know that 5 games back with 130+ more games to play means nothing? Hell, in the last 9 days, nine freaking days, we've made up 4 games.
  2. The missle is obviously hitting somewhere, so don't you think that HAS to be the ending? Sure Tonys been a gigantic character in the show, but his death overshadowing MILLIONS of people dieing? I hope not.
  3. I'm keeping my mouth shut from ranting on Yankee players for the next month.
  4. There's a law that both players have to play at the same time? Well, because Giambi HAS to get these ABS in to see if he can still hit, which he hasn't shown, Womack, whos hitting over .300 on the trip has to sit. and because Giambi can't play D for his life, he HAS to DH, which means Bernie has to play center. Here's a crazy thought. Since Matsui is a better defender than Bernie, they could play MATSUI in center, and move Bernie to left. Of course, these are also the same minds who thought Jeter was a better shortstop than Alex Rodriguez. Thats what I'm wondering. How hard can it be to move from CF to LF? And actually, Bernie shouldn't even BE playing tonight, hes already left runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs TWICE. Sele has six walks, and we have one damn run. On the bright side, Wang looks teriffic again so far.

  6. Giambi HAVING to play costs the Yankees, as Bernies old ass can't catch a fly ball Matsui would have had easy, leading to two runs.
  7. The Braves are a different team. They have this strange concept that in order to win, you have to acquire bench players, relief pitchers, and have a farm system. Cano and Wang ain't so bad so far. And Cena, the bench killed us in the playoffs.
  8. Hey Al, do you have anymore of these stats the uneducated fan like me would be shocked at? Because your theory on Giambi being better than Bernie theory comes true. And Cano is REALLY turning it around. Four multi hit games in a row, including 2 against seattle, 3 on friday, 2 yesterday and 3 today.
  9. JESUS GOD. Tino homers AGAIN.
  10. And Tino matches him, his seventh homerun in eight games.
  11. I can understand that, but the "old" and "washed up" players being the reason we falter at the end of the season is totally unpredictable. I'd be a lot more scared with the Os pitching faltering.
  12. What basis do you have that the Yankees "old" and "washed up" players will falter down the stretch? WHO says that the young guns on the Os are going to hold up? Bruce Chen holding up like this the whole year? Because YOU KNOW the eventual Randy Johnson vs Sidney Ponson and Moose vs Rodrigo Lopez matchups in huge september games are gonna be easy win games for the Os. Seriously, you keep telling us the Yankees aren't a "contender". But I'd like to know why, beside the old and washed up players comment. I've held back on the "when were in first, I'll be laughing in all your faces" comment, but I'll be first in line to laugh at you when it does happen.
  13. If I'm Kevin Brown, I'd feel like punching my fielders right now. 4 out of the five runs given up have been due to dumbass fielding plays. EDIT: Mariners sent down Joel Pinero to Triple A. How bad has he been struggling?
  14. If Kevin Brown continues to pitch like this, I'll hug him. This entire inning was because of the Yankees D. How the hell does a runner on 1st score on a bloop fly out?!?
  15. A-Rod makes errors at the worst possible times. Besides basically giving the Ms all the chances for their runs on Wednesday, he blows another DP leading to another As run.
  16. This is Kevin Brown were talking about. If things go according to plan, we'll be tied going into the 2nd, instead of being down 4-0. Edit, 4-1.
  17. Whoops, thats what I meant. I mis read your post.
  18. Theres no way their going to dump Bernie. If that happened, I'd stop being a Yankee fan. And beside the fact moving Jeter to CF won't happen, the more logical situation would be to shop for a LF at the deadline, and platoon Womack and Cano at 2nd, or give Rube the LF job and do the platoon. Then again, that kills an already pathetic bench. I don't want Matsui out of CF. He looks SO much more comfortable there than LF, and catches everything. And Rey Sanchez has been stellar off the bench, hes batting somewhere around .400.
  19. Others ran the statistics, but they bear repeating, and I will add a few. Giambi is hitting .198/.381/.321. Bernie Williams is hitting .245/.311/.309. Williams' argument in this case lies in the fact that his batting average is higher. Of course, batting average is not as good as slugging percentage or on base percentage, but hey, it is all about the hits right? Mike mentions that Bernie has more hits and RBIs. Ten to six is hardly a slam dunk win in the RBI category, but the larger problem is that Bernie has about 20 more plate appearances to work with. And that ignores another stat category. Giambi has scored more RUNS than Bernie has this season. You know, that thing that wins games? Looking over some advanced metrics, Giambi beats Bernie Williams in runs created, even with the deficit in plate appearances. If we go by Runs Created over 27 outs, Giambi smokes Bernie. Giambi hits for more power than Bernie Williams. Quite honestly, I am hard pressed to find a better argument for Bernie besides "he has a better batting average." Giambi walks often, and thus does not use outs, and gives the Yankees a baserunner with the potential to score runs. Bernie makes more outs. Granted, Giambi is as bad a player you can find with a .381 OBP. But .381 is .381. And that is much better than the low OBP and no power the Yankees are getting from Bernie, and Giambi is even more productive than regulars Tony Womack, Hideki Matsui, and Robinson Cano. Is Giambi finished? He is nearing the end, as his batting average and slugging are nowhere near respectable. But there are worse hitters on this team, and I have a hard time believing that sending Giambi to AAA accomplishes anything besides scraping a few million off the luxury tax. That is all this move is about. Money. I see all those stats, and I'm honestly dumfounded how Giambi leads in them. Maybe its mostly from April, but if you watch all of his ABs from May, its purely pathetic. Sure Bernie is hitting bad as well, but hes making contact. Also the fact that for all hes done for the Yankees, people can honestly understand and accept the fact Bernies not what he used to be. The thing that pisses me and other Yankee fans off is that Giambis problems are so easy to see. He can't hit a fastball anymore, and I'm sure he was thanking Juan Cruz for giving him a hanging curve on his hit. I understand your stats Al, and I accept them, but looking beyond the stats, Giambi shouldn't be in this lineup. And Iggy, how can you not care about this winning streak? Were only 5.5 games behind you right now. With 13 more games against you. Your confidence in the fact the Yankees won't come back is laughable in my opinion.
  20. Yes you can. While I DO think Giambi should go to the minors, Mantle wasn't an MVP like player yet, and was just a rookie. Giambis a former MVP, and a career .300 hitter.
  21. Most of this is in Giambis head. Hes taking a ton of pitches that are right down the middle. I do feel bad for the guy, hes obviously putting way too much pressure on himself.
  22. Again, Bernie actually HITS THE GOD DAMN BALL. Sure Giambi has a better OBP, slugging, and OPS, but Bernie has more hits, a better average, more RBIs, and again, CAN HIT THE DAMN BALL.
  23. Jason Giambi Alert: K on three pitches.
  24. I'm following the Sox/O's game on gamecast, and will someone let the Sox know their supposed to hit the ball hard on 3-1 and 2-0 counts. I swear this is the 3rd inning in a row where they've had a batter pop up on a 3-1 count. EDIT: they figured it out.
  25. Yankee announcers have to be homers, or they'll lose their job.
