I respect my parents, but I don't fear my parents. Explain to me how I'm indicative of society's downfall, please? Pretty much agree with all of these. The problem I notice with my step nephew is that his mother never follows through with her punishment... he still gets everything he wants. He's a big 11 year old, who's cocky, and cries about attention until he gets his way. He'll get a 1 month punishment reduced to 2 or 3 days. The fact is that nobody wants to be the "hard ass" parent anymore. I'm not talking about beating your kid, I'm talking about establishing right off the bat at a young age that you're going to discipline them whenever they fuck up. Most people think it's too harsh, or just out of sheer laziness, they'll let their kids do want they want. They try to be the parent and the friend at the same time, and most kids will catch on to this. If I still got what I wanted after a severe fuck up... what would be the point of improving?
