"I Can't Believe That Got Over!!!"

I was just thinking about this at work yesterday, how some stuff gets over for no reason at all. My first three thoughts: - Eugene, who was crazy over in the summer of '04. - Armando. - Mr. Kennedy.

Has it really been 5 years allready? 9-11-2001

Hi. I can't believe we're almost at the anniversary of the horrific events of September 15th. Bossman's death?

I liked Jo the most when it was on, but common sense eventually prevailed and my adolescent lust directed itself to Hannah, who was >>> Rachel. But she didn't look as cute in Agent Cody Banks (? That movie with the kid from Malcolm)

    kkk Bowl V: Week 1

I was sure I was done this week after Oakland's loss, but looks like I'll win if it comes down to tiebreaker points. Need a Giants win, or a loss by no worse than 5.5.

Additional father story! When it was on when I was in high school, we would often watch S Club 7 way more than any other heterosexuals on the planet. He would often call Hannah his favourite because she was the best looking. His favouritism was cemented because her name was a palindrome. Also, it was in the music thread for a while last year...check out Weird Al's Bob, a parody of Bob Dylan's Subterranean Homesick Blues . The entire song is palindromes.

    HDTV

Yeah, I guess that's fair, as my budget was 1000 or less. Still, I found lots with two ins, but none with more than that. Absolutely, it makes sense to have more, though. Cable box, upconverting DVD, 360, for example.

NFL Week 1 Paneled Basement Party & Chat

It's in HD? This is my first week with Sunday Ticket, but my HD service won't start until Monday, and I'm already at Marvin levels of excitement.

Three HDMI could be tough, as they're not toooooo common. But for $2500...you can get just anything you want in design or style.

My dad STILL tells this story with regularity, and I've taken to telling it as well. When he and five buddies went to Myrtle Beach in 1996, maybe '97, they went to lunch at the NASCAR Cafe. When the waitress asked my dad what he wanted, he first asked for a chocolate milk, and his buddies called him a fat bastard. She proceeded to ask him what he'd like to eat, and he said, without hesitation, "I'm sure not getting the Dick Trickle burger"...which actually was a fucking item!

Nice. It's got the only things I wanted that mine doesn't, and those ATSC and QAM tuners. Oh well, 50 HD channels Monday.

    The Youtube Thread

AWESOME! I've had this on my computer for quite a while from LimeWire, but was never able to post it. The more people who see it, the better. I really like Sid's "I DON'T KNOW SHIT!" I'm still looking for Bret's official heel turn, when he tells Americans to kiss his ass.

So, out of stock on my Samsung, I put my eggs in one basket and, for the same price, got a 37" Toshiba. 2000:1 contrast ratio means the blacks are deep and full, white are clear and pure. StableSound is not revolutionary by any means, but my God, how did I go so long without it? Like Marvin, I've always been way more into picture quality than sound, but I was instantly blown away by the clear sound and deep bass. And good lord, when I hooked up my 360 and played Tiger Woods 08.....what have I been doing the last few years? It's a four-figure set, but I have absolutely no regrets. Signed up for NFL Sunday Ticket Wednesday, but the HD installation won't take place until Monday. I'm thinking of buying, and returning after the weekend, a set of rabbit ears so I can watch football in HD this weekend.

Be it known that I bet on Tiger Woods this week (Learn more here, if interested), and am actually pulling for him, something which hasn't happened, to the best of my memory, since the 2000 Mercedes Invitational.

    The What If Topic...

Yes, it still could have worked. Austin was getting cheers, and Bret was getting booed, even before the double turn, even before the anti-American tirade. Bret could have found a way to turn up the volume a little more without playing the anti-American card. It wouldn't have been as memorable, or created as much unique, fun, and groundbreaking television, but it still could have gotten over. Play up the returning HBK as a face, maybe a little history of Austin-Pillman...there were plenty of things to go on, and Bret and Austin both had enough charisma to allow for things to work that we maybe hadn't even considered.

    TSM Death Pool - 2007

Me too. A receiver at a grocery store I deliver to gave me the god damndest look I'd ever seen this morning. When she told the news to a co-worker, I stopped merchandising my bread and did a Tiger Woods-like fist pump. All for naught.

As much as I like Phil, he owes about 2/3 of everything he has to Tiger. To piss and moan, especially after taking the outright lead, is pretty fucking bratty.

That kinda re-inforces the Eddie Haskell-ness I've been read about him. GQ said his nickname on tour (apart from Hefty, and Moobs), was FIGJAM, which means "Fuck, I'm good. Just ask me." I wonder what he could have wanted Finchem to do that wasn't given.

NHL Preseason and Predictions - 2007-08

Who exactly was Drew Stafford? Might be forever known as the guy that Alexander Perezoghin tried to kill in the Hammer. Also, while not nearly as well-known, was part of a unique glitch that occured in NHL 07 last year, after the downloading of an online update patch thing. Turns out if you adjusted lines before the game in any manner, the goalie was automatically pulled, and Stafford was on the ice the entire game. After a night of drinking, led to great fun. We all thought we were all just really really hammered until trying it again the next morning. Also, Baron, I'll re-iterate: I get the feeling Baron's better half, a Sabres fan, will be introducing him to the Chesterfield Inn at least once between now and October 4.

From what I understand, they pretty well said "We'll give you Toskala as long as you take Bell".

Comments which don't warrant a thread.

I often take my roomates to work, and we'll stop for drive-thru coffee on the way. One of the guys who does the drive-thru is named Kane. It's actually his name, too, we've asked him a few times now. It's great to get from the speaker to the window, trying to figure out who's serving us that day. "Is that...THAT'S KANE! THAT'S GOTTA BE KANE!" is said in my car about twice a week now.

And Phil hangs on to win by two. He's now got the outright lead in the FedEx Cup, heading to Chicago, with the other 69 players. No cuts the next two weeks.
