    Should we have

Or a memorial? Ceremony? Discuss. I had originally typed "Should Leena have a funeral?" That didn't sound right.

    TSM Death Pool -- 2009

I don't know how to say this without sounding a little gay; is Max at the new TSM? I need a Broons fan to argue with there.

    The Masters Thread

Ala the tennis Grand Slams, I think we'd be better served with threads devoted to just the majors instead of monthly threads. To that end, I'm still impressed with how much traffic the June '08 thread saw during the U.S. Open on Sunday evening. My absolute favourite sporting event kicks off in five days, to cap off a pretty good week: Wrestlemania, start of baseball season, the ending of the NHL season/start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. In lieu of the Jays home opener live, I'll be going to Tuesday night's game following the live taping of The Hour with George Stromboulopolous. Tiger's 'take that' to Sean O'Hair last week cemented his status as favourite #1 for Augusta, although a win by 1A Philly Mick at Houston this week could open the debate back up. Furthermore, Fed Ex Cup leader Geoff Ogilvy's been lost in the shuffle of the Tiger-Phil frenzy, and 2007 Masters champ Zach Johnson quietly finished third in Orlando last week. Discuss.

Not since Espo in 1970 has a rookie hit ten shutouts. While a win over the Lightning doesn't mean a parade is imminent, this is a huge win for the Habs: * A win over a team they've struggled with this season gives me a little confidence for any potential run-in with the Bruins. I know that sounds more like a preview for Wrestlemania than the playoffs, but, I can dream, can't i? * They shouldn't have blown the lead, but they didn't roll over and play dead after Tampa's comeback. * This ties into my above point, but surely the Habs had their eyes on the out-of-town scoreboard tonight, and still won to keep pace with the Panthers. I'm sick like hell of pulling for the Sabres, but I may have to once more to satsify a bunch of small bets some buddies and I made. In fact, it could benefit me if they played like hell Friday night and ran on fumes at the Bell Centre Saturday. Baby steps, though. Hey if they win one more, that's a winning streak! It has happened before! Shit, they better win Saturday, I've been waiting weeks to put that picture up!

The Agent of Oblivion question of the day

I'll let Baron answer for me. For a long time, one of my proudest moments was getting kicked out of the peelers for just being 'too drunk'. No groping, no fighting, just 'too drunk'. Come to think of it, for all the days and bars I've been plastered in, I've stayed out of trouble for the most part.

    HDTV

15k contrast is so-so, especially for a plasma. 720p native is not the highest available by any means, but the difference between rendered 1080 and native 1080 is not earth-shattering. Viera is probably the best-made plasma on the planet, and 42" for 750, regardless of specs, is a bargain. Enjoy.

I hope it collapses on top of him. Fuck that guy. As someone who's a pretty casual baseball fan, I don't entirely understand what Loria did. I actually did a project in my PR class during college where I had to play Loria justifying his late 1997 roster slashing - does two roster slashes supersede two World Series titles in six years?

I've been a longtime fan of YnA, at least in the best-poster tourney. That should be good enough.

I demand at least some credit for this thread. Also, why did we go to 150k x 150k avatars? My Bj birdie is stretched the fuck out!

The Agent of Oblivion question of the day

    * No burial, cremate me and move on. * Reception with the playing of Megadeth's "A Tout Le Monde" at a golf course with driving range. All attendees are to hit one golf ball in memoriam. * If my death comes at the hands of someone else, accidentally or otherwise, I want them forgiven, no questions asked.

I always look forward to Leafs/Habs with my grandfather, but with the urgency of this win tonight, I'm especially looking forward to some good, old-time hockey. Fuck this team if they lose tonight, though.

Groan, I'm defending the Broons again - I do see similarities between the two squads, specifically in one aspect - Talented kids seeing the bright lights of the big city. That said, the Broons have two things the Habs (either '07 or '08) lack, those being leadership and character. I wholeheartedly believe the Habs of last year, and this year for that matter, are as altogether talented as any team in the East, but they lack(ed) the size and character required to get through a long playoff run. The Bruins have both of those. Furthermore, cementing Recchi to Boston as the best deal this year that didn't involve an Olli, Mark should be enough of a leader to keep the kids in line. Kovalev is a primadona, Koivu's a veteran but not really a leader. Boston is, for my money, still the best team in the East, even as they gear down during the home stretch. But I really, really hope not.

Eighth now. How awesome is that? Not so much the Oilers getting a little comfort, but the fact that we could have this very conversation in three weeks, and we did have it three weeks ago?

    Brodeur vs. Roy

Anyone Sean Avery doesn't like is good in my books, though 'fatso' was pretty funny. If I'm not mistaken, Vanbiesbrouck's defence went something like "Well, I didn't think saying nigger was such a big deal, when we were growin up, we'd say nigger all over the place. Just...nigger, nigger, nigger!" What do Stronach and Domi have chained up at home if they're each other's 'hot side action'? Yes, Belfour did offer the cops a billion. Sliding scale from 50k onward. Finally, you could make a case that Ken Dryden was so straight-lace that it was weird. You're a goalie, you're supposed to be like that.

    Brodeur vs. Roy

You're presumably a Wing fan - you have nothing to justify regarding your Roy hatred.

    Brodeur vs. Roy

I think Brodeur gets the nod when(not if) he breaks Sawchuk's record. I don't like the shootout/trap argument either. Are Gretzky's scoring records less impressive, or diluted in some way, because scoring was higher in the 80's?

Tie fucking game! I don't wanna spend 100 bucks on brake pads for a car that's only worth, like, 1000 tops. Pro Line should pay for them if anything.

Ughhhh. I'm flirting with a big Pro Line payday, but the Rangers take the lead. 3-2 with five to play. No money and a thorn in the side of the Habs playoff chances? Yikes.

    * I don't think it's that greedy of me to expect great things from Czech's sitcom/movie titles. Mow then you can Handel! That's puttin' the bar awfully high.
