Putting Armando back on Umaga = ratings.

    Golf Thread - August

I am really really excited for these playoffs, and to see how they unfold. The end of August is a fantastic time for sports.

    Xbox 360

I played an unbelievable amount of Gears of War this summer, the majority of it on co-op online. This is great news, and it did push me over the brink of buying this, on which I'd been teetering for a while.

    It's my birthday.

You're 23? Why'd I think you were much younger than that? Happy Birthday.

    Boardloaf

That's baffling to me. You don't eat a little at a time? Come to think of it, I often have a similar question for my grandfather. I have never seen him take a drink during a meal, even the hottest or driest foods. He's blind, and the rule at his boarding school as a young man was what I just said. It makes sense to me why he does it now, but it's still interesting to watch him go through a plate of wings without touching his beer.

Chain mergers / Corporate brand extensions

I didn't realize that was actually the conglomerate's name - I kinda thought Venkman was trying to slap an insult together over his loss of potato wedges, which he would be justified in doing. There's a variety store about 5 minutes from my place that was at one time a Wink's, and they had a Chester Fried - the fried chicken and wedges Venk described, both of which were stellar. A buddy of mine who's from Fort Erie, where Chester is originally from, goes to college in Ottawa. He claims that he misses Chester more than anything else about home. He went nuts a few weeks ago when he was at my place, and saw the aforementioned variety store still had the Chester logo up, even though they haven't been there (nor has the Wink's for that matter) for a number of years now. Invariably, we'll often argue about which the better fried chicken is out of that, Popeye's, and KFC, which is fine segue to my addition to the topic - The new Taco Bell/KFC on Ontario Street in St Kitts. During my brief tenure at a job I had in June, one of the guys was constantly hyping up a deal they had, which I've still yet to partake - Five tacos, five pieces of chicken, ten bucks.

Major restaurants and stores not in your area?

I can second that. There's one on Lundy's Lane right when it starts getting tourist area-y, and they were typical Denny's prices. The one about ten minutes closer to the actual Falls, just across from the new casino is brutal.

    NHL Offseason - 2007

Habs are making a push to bring back Patrice Brisebois I'm surprisingly okay with this. I think a lot of that is because it's for a much more sensible pay of $700,000, as opposed to the >Patrick Roy sum he was receiving at the end of his last stay with Montreal.

Major restaurants and stores not in your area?

Having never been in there, I don't know if that's indicative of TGI Friday's, or simply just because of its location. The Keg is indeed pricey, but they're also damn good.

    NHL Offseason - 2007

The Sabres avoid arbitration by giving Derek Roy a well-earned raise, 24 mil over 4 years, up from $637,000 last year. 65 points in 75 games last season, including 21 goals. And that's playing on the third line.

    The Golf Thread

Mike Weir's home in even par 71. Not bad, but he was at -2 at one point. Additionally, Hunter Mahan made three eagles in a round of 62 (-9).
  14. Mighty Morphin TSM! Convince me I shouldn't. Pujolsjunkie will go to bat for me, I bet.

Just out of curiosity VX, when did you see me? The link Slayer posted? Also, the last time I played chess was also that night at that bar in Port. British-style. Can't think of the name. I beat RB, then we walked down the street to Belmont, and I sang Metal Health on karaoke.

    The Youtube Thread

96 Royal Rumble. In that compilation right before the actual match of different wrestlers saying why/how they would win. Consistent with the video itself, I don't know why/how I remember that. Edit
  19. Good move. Things are in order.

    Holy Fuck

No, not even a fucking little. Notice the "I'm 21-and-can't-quite-grow-the-Droz" beard/stache combo. I take back the good memory thing. You have a fucking exceptional memory. You seemingly pulled that out of nowhere. I had to stare at it for about 15 seconds to figure out where/when it was taken.

    Vanhalen sucks

I feel like that guy asking Iron Sheik why he hates Brian Blair so much, but what's so bad about him?
  22. CanadianGuitarist

    Holy Fuck

Not even a fucking little. But good memory. Edit: Not really. There is a little aura of celebration, but not enough to drink for.

    The What If Topic...

To expand on that a little, let's assume sell also means jump for the bodyslam. If that's the case, Hogan's failed bodyslam (read: the one he DID hit in real life, as opposed to the two prior in the match that failed) clues Hogan into the fact that he's not lifting Andre up. Gorilla can put over how sore and banged up he must be from x amount of failed slam attempts, Jesse can say just how immovable and tough an opponent Andre is. Hogan improvises a finish that works, hits the leg, and 3. The 'one' moment that makes it stand out is gone, however Wrestlemania still becomes a household name, especially with Gorilla and Jesse building Hogan as the underdog the rest of the match.

Eric and Jordan Staal were both arrested after too much noise and booze at a bachelor party this past weekend. Link
