Ben Crenshaw is, for the second year in a row, among the Friday leaders. He's at +3, which is 5 back right now.

It's been awfully overlooked that Colorado hasn't gone down without a fight. The combination of last night's Avs win and Flames loss leaves the Mile High City three back with 2 to play. Unlikely, but it was also unlikely when they were ten points back, ten days ago.

Exactly two weeks ago (well, minus about 10 hours), my brother's exact words: Fuck the Leafs. He's back on board. My grandfather sent me a text message last night "Both our teams blow. Saturday's going to be awful isn't it?" My grandmother followed that with "You can watch the game here Saturday, but no violence." I just don't picture the Habs winning tomorrow. Maybe it's because I'm not sold on Halak, maybe because they let up 30 shots through two periods yesterday, maybe it's because Huet will likely start and he hasn't played in eight weeks. I can't put my finger on it. God, this was a top 5 team in the league at Christmas. It's easy to say that they're nothing without Huet, but they had started to stumble before he got hurt, not after.

It is. It's why we've never seen Augusta in any of the TW video games, and only all 18 holes on Sunday for five years. Friday and Thursday coverage on TV just started 25 years ago, and this is the 71st playing of it (and 51st on television)

Deaf ears, new guy. I've been saying that for months. (I'm remarkably anal about Canadian spelling). Go ahead, ask Baron about Sheldon Souray. I dare you.

The Islanders are not eliminated. They have 3 games to play to the Habs' 2. They have 86 points to the Habs' 90. A win of any kind by the Habs, or a loss of any kind eliminates them.

Things stay the same, to some degree: Leafs, Habs, Bolts win. The Bolts win, coupled with the Rangers OT game, eliminates the Canes from contention. This is the first time ever that both of the previous Cup finalists will not make the playoffs. The Rangers can also clinch if they win tonight, though it's in overtime now. A loss would not technically eliminate the Isles thanks to their point in tonight's game, but pretty close.

Brett Quigley has left the course. His wife went into labour around lunchtime today. He's hoping to be back for Thursday.

The Masters also coincides this year with a spring tradition of Barons and mine, The Mini-Masters. It's always played at the same course, always falls on Good Friday (this is the second time it's been during Masters week), we've begun implementing a few par 3 practise rounds mid-week, and of course, there's a green jacket (thrift-store bought) for the winner. This is the fifth playing, Baron's won 3 and tied with a friend of ours last year. We're not expecting Kelly Tilghman and Nick Faldo to host. And since I'm already off-topic, Baron, your created guy in Tiger 07 looks remarkably like you.

Philly Mick. Top 5 for Charles Howell III, even with his spotty record on his home turf.

Yep, you're gonna have to back that one up. Luongo's never been to the playoffs. Parise has, and they both have international experience, but....Parise was your first pick, let alone your first pick on the New Jersey Devils?

Yes on paper, no in practise. We've seen great coaches get entirely too run-down trying to juggle both. That can't be good on the ice or in the boardroom. Lamoriello is a genius, and fiercly devoted (anyone ever seen that giant depth chart in his office? Check the 2004-05 THN Yearbook if you haven't), but if Jacques Martin, Pat Quinn(he did coach 2 Leaf teams to the East finals) or Daryl Sutter couldn't do it, I'd have to think Lamoriello can't either... And I'm gonna answer with my boy Jarome Iginla. A proven playoff leader (see '04 finals), plenty of pedigree and talent, big game success (see '02 Olympics/'04 World Cup). I love Martin Gelinas, but I'd bet my testicles that he's not scoring all those game-winners again.

    Guys, I'm gay.

That's ok. I'm actually an Slovakian cellist. EDIT: I originally wrote Czech cellist. But that would get messy.

Don't rag on Welland. They've had an NDP MP for the last million years. Even Mike would have trouble explaining why I owe the Harper admin. money today. Wow, that felt good getting off my chest. I don't get the Devils getting rid of Julien at all. They're legitimate contenders in the East, and even if they don't win the Atlantic, being taken over by Pittsburgh is hardly indicative of poor coaching.

??? I, too, would like to know what that's all about. What I meant was, at 6 o clock I said Brodeur might overtake Roy for Cups won. When I re-analyzed his career stats, mired in a debate with King an hour later, I said he probably wouldn't. It was mostly me kicking myself in the ass for second-guessing myself

Wow. My opinion of Brodeur's Cup-winning predictions dropped pretty drastically in the last two hours.

    NHL Thread

He's 8 shutouts behind Sawchuk. Let's call this one not a lock, but an extreme likelihood. He's 75 wins behind Roy. Two more seasons of 35 wins seem fair. Check. He's not touching Roy's 3 Smythes. Roy and Brodeur have three Vezinas. Brodeur miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight make a run at Hasek's 6, but we can officially cross that one off if he doesn't beat Luongo this year. Brodeur is not going to win the Hart trophy any time soon. Hasek has 2. Roy has 4 Cups. Brodeur has 3. Let's say maybe tie, but probably not. And almost certainly will not beat. I didn't realise he was so close on shutouts, I thought he still needed 20 or so. So, I'm going to semi-agree with you King, and place Brodeur at #3 for now (behind Roy and Sawchuk)....and I'll say wait and see. And speaking of stat comparing, I'm in the midst of analysing everyone's pre-season picks, and will post and compare them between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. (By the way, I might as well go to the bank and piss on a signed mortgage. My credibility is that damaged. I called for PHILAFUCKINGDELPHIA to WIN the Prince of Wales!) Do I have the wrongest pick? Find out Easter morning, probably 2 hours or so before the Masters begins.

    OAO WrestleMania 23 Thread-April 1st, 2007

Opening pyro/anthem/video buildup Khali goes over Kane. Both blade. Will be bad, but not terrible. * 1/4 Benoit over MVP. The match of the night for TSM. Will likely get between 15-20 minutes. *** MITB is won by Kennedy. Finish: Hardys take out, Booker and Finlay with big bump. Edge, who plays chicken heel throughout, is confronted by Orton, they brawl a bit, Punk takes them out (and he'll unquestionably be the star of the match, including:) being taken out with an even bigger bump, allowing the win for Kennedy. The match of the night for the marks, and also about 20 minutes. Ashley wins the broads title. Melina carries her. It'll be so-so, good enough that the Lumberjills won't be the focal point of attention. * 3/4 Lashley over Umaga. Rey and Eugene interfere on Vince only. Austin doesn't mind. Vince gets one strip shaved by Trump. Austin finishes the job. Beer celebration. Side note: The mark in me will be ejaculating non-stop for over a month if Umaga wins. I do not have a vasectomy appointment booked tomorrow. ** 1/2 Taker over Batista. I'd been telling anyone who'd listen that Batista was going to end the streak. I've come around. Decent match, prolonged entrance for Taker, even longer celebration. And this should be the main event, but Cena HBK gets that spot. **. On the shorter side, say 8-12 minutes. New Breed over Originals. My heart is crushed, and Paul Heyman's a little too. I'm actually wearing an ECW shirt as we speak, that I bought at a TNN taping on Sept. 8, 2000. (I'm unbelievably good with days). Bit of a clusterfuck. * 3/4 Cena over Michaels. This will be, for the record, the only time in my life I EVER root for Cena. Yes, that included Trips last year. Michaels brings his workboots (and even as a lifelong hater of him, does he ever not bring them?), and Cena's on top of his game too. ***. HBK shakes his hand afterwards. Cena is not turning anytime soon. Yes, we hate him, but women and children do not, and they buy more t's than we do.
