    NHL Thread: November Edition

Hmm...Florida can't score, Vancouver can't score, the Leafs and Habs are averaging two a game this week. I realise it's a dry spell for a few teams over the course of six or seven days, but I'm expecting a lot of panicky panellists coming out of the woodworks this weekend.

Marion Hossa's second goa of the eveningl, a beautiful 3-on-2, gives Atlanta a 2-0 lead with eighteen to play, give him the lead in goals and ties him for the lead in points.

    HDTV

What I've noticed, is that, worse than your second line, is an extended part of your first: I'm amazed by how many people assume that just buying an HDTV will mean they have everything (and I mean everything; Seinfeld re-runs to CSI) broadcast in HD immediately out of the box...Every customer I've helped with HDTV, I've given a bit of an overview to as far as broadcasts available, services necesary, tried to avoid specs, other than 1080/720/480, and referred to howstuffworks.com or tsn.ca for more specific information...I mean, when you get down to it, ultimately, how much do you really need to know?

Baron, I'll gladly renege on my statement of a week ago where I spun my tires over who Montreal's starter was. It's Huet...and yes, he deserves the Vezina. But for a team in the middle of the pack in goals for in the East, let's hold off on that Hart assessment. The Habs biggest problem the last few years has been shots and goals for...now that it's improved, this isn't a case of Huet carrying them. I haven't assessed stats yet enough (and no one player really springs out at me yet) to name a Hart winner, but not Huet.

    kkk Bowl IV: Week 13

Ditto. I'm intrigued, Flik, to see who stumbles over the finish line in our division. Good luck, by the way, KKK. I bet that's the only time in my life I say that.

    Worked Angles...

Now that admissions of equal or greater embarrasment have been revealed: I really thought Chyna was being arrested when the cops took her away in late 98 for "failing to appear at a court date".

    Quebec is a "Nation"

Somewhere lost in all this is how federalists feel about all this...I haven't heard anything from them since that statement.

    Stipulations that were respected

When? I remember him being gone by 99, but I don't remember a LLT match at all. I remember Sable/Mero at OTE 98, (which, albeit with an asterisk, fits the topic title pretty nicely), but never one in which Marc lost...He was around for, hmm...Brawl for All, Six Way match on Raw in Sept....Yeah, that's the last I remember him was September 98....fill me in?

TSN will break some North American ground Friday during the Rangers-Sabres game at Hot Sauce and Blue Cheese. For the first time, a full game will be commentated from ice-level. I've kind of enjoyed TSN having Pierre MacGuire do interviews and commentary from ice-level, but a full game play by play? I don't know. When I covered hockey in college, I vastly preferred about being halfway up. There'll be more on SportsCentre tonight, and I'm sure it's on tsn.ca somewhere...

    Quebec is a "Nation"

I almost agree, but what I said re: Harper/Layton last January still applies. The leader is indeed important, but ultimately, I'm gonna go with the party that best represents my views, which is the NDP. Yes, I know they'll never get more than 40 seats. Hey, Harper could play "Hey, he fucked up Ontario" card. He seems to do pretty well when he runs with no platform.

    Stipulations that were respected

IIRC, that stip only applied to Doring/Roadkill. It must have been (though I don't remember the stip at all). Guido and Mamaluke fought at Guilty as Charged '01 less than a month later.

    Worked Angles...

You're certainly not alone on Savage being bit by Damien. I was fascinated by snakes and all reptiles as a kid (still am today). That peak was at its highest in Grade 2, which was 91-92(the same time, of course, as the angle). I read about how deadly rattlesnakes and cobras could be like three days before the bite (just a coincidence, but it still terrified me).

    Christmas...

You can absolutely, positively not go wrong with a gas gift certificate. That is, undeniably, the best gift for those hard to buy for.

Habs take it in a shootout. I realise this is easy to say with the game over, but that was absolutely Boston's game once they killed the 5-on-3 late.

    Quebec is a "Nation"

I don't hate this... Don't get me wrong, this issue was reasonably under the rug for a while (and I don't honestly think Quebec would ever separate anyway), and Harper basically stirred the pot and it worked out okay for him. But no part of me as a Canadian wants to see Quebec leave.....If this makes them happy without giving them any actual additional power, vetoes or status unavailable to other provinces, well, I don't think it's that bad. Not yet, anyway. It is a slippery slope....It's really a matter of wait and see. Just for fun: I had considered starting a topic about this yesterday when it was passed. I didn't think it would get much response (see my, albeit much-less controversial, mutual fund thing topic of three weeks ago).

Refute this statement and I'll tear you a new asshole

Yes to the Puddy thing...but I don't follow the final scene connection. Can I assume what you mean is that they faded out talking about the very same thing they series began with?

    NHL Thread: November Edition

That seems retardedly premature considering they were atop the Central less than six weeks ago. How is it Yawney's fault that his top three players are hurt? I realise it's the nature of the business, but that still seems awfully rash. EDIT: I suppose I didn't really factor in who wears suits in the Windy City.

    So Barron is getting married

Testing this theory out from the "Hot's been banned" thread. Since a catfight was on the horizon between Barron and Leena, I figured he would be the example. Nothing personal, Barron, if this winds up an assault on you. Come to think of it - has a thread here in TCS ever not become an attack on at least one person? Slayer could make it out alive, maybe Leena and almost certainly Czech...everyone else? I don't know. The door's locked, too.

Suspended three days for "excessive flaming"?

Pretty straightforward. I don't think it's worth getting worked up over the fact that you couldn't log on to a message board for three days over a holiday weekend. Wasn't a holiday in Canada....

Agreed with Huet, but with an asterisk. It's not unforseeable that Aebischer that will still play 50 games this year....the big thing still is determing who is officially the starter (not just in Montreal, San Jose, Anaheim and maaaaaaaaaybe Florida could have a similar predicament by the time spring rolls around).
