Four Thanksgivings and a Funeral
CanadianGuitarist replied to Man Who Sold The World's topic in No Holds Barred
ManWhoSoldTheWorld's sig exempts him from criticism. The fact that this thread is in Chocolate Socket only really re-inforces what I just said. -
You're not alone.

I think this was right after Bret turned heel. Vince did something to piss him off so he storms down to the announce table. The two exchange words and IIRC the word, "bullshit '' was said by Bret. They get into a scuffle where they pull each others jackets over their head, hence the term ''hockey fight.'' I still don't rememeber this whatsoever. Along the lines, I remember the last Raw before Mania 13, Bret shoved Vince after losing a cage match and saying "bullshit" and "god damn" several times. That doesn't quite sound like what you described though.

Since this got discussed quite a bit in "Oh Canada" thread last election season, I still say we should trade you guys Alberta for the North East.

I'm pretty-well all of the above, and I don't like Bob Rae

Mild groin strain. Day-to-day. Could be in net for against the Habs Saturday.

Coupled with the fact that the two teams split their meetings last year, I had seriously considered betting on the Bruins today. I just couldn't do it.
-
So where do they go from here? I mean, there's still 70 games to play, so the sky isn't quite falling, but five straight losses is more than just bad luck. The rumours that Alfredson might be traded seem to get routinely shot down, apart from Emery and Redden (who's back now, isnt he?), injuries don't seem to be the problem. Powerplay needs to improve, no doubt, but that can't be blamed for the poor defence and third period play. Is it too early to start swining the axe on the front office?

Worth noting: -Canada moves to 2-0 in the Four Nations Cup - Patrick Roy has told the media that Habs forward Guilliame Latendresse wouldnt even be on the Habs were he not a Francophone.

I didn't see this listed (and in hindsight, I could have mentioned it in my marathon post): A four way tag from August 98: Rock and D-Lo, Outlaws, Kane and Mankind, Austin/Taker. Kane and Mankind get the belts back from the latter, Rock and Owen were supposed to be the team originally, but DLo was added after Shamrock attacked Owen before the match, a nuclear crowd - everything went right that match.

Just because I don't fathom seeing it happen in real life, I thought I'd share that in my dynasty in NHL '07, Wade Dubleiciewicz is starting in net in Game 4 of the East Quarterfinals for the Islanders.

I didnt think I'd be the guy to break that news. The Sens haven't lost five straight since Daig and Yashin were playing in the nation's capital.

Other than the customary glass at Xmas dinner (and I've been known often skip that), champagne at New Year's is all for me. I definitely prefer white to red, but I cant envision ever buying a bottle of wine. In a nutshell! This might be sig-worthy.

Kubina's back tomorrow, so that means Belak can move to forward as they've experimented with a few times. I don't forsee a train wreck, although they certainly won't be this hot much longer. 500 hockey until about Christmas seems reasonable.

Suddenly my baseball-like idea seems a little more sensible. As much as I love seeing all-Canadian games, I get more stoked over Montreal playing Buffalo or Philly than I do Vancouver or Calgary. So, without ruling interleague play...let's say 15 teams per conference: -Two road games against all other in-conference teams(28) -Two home games against all other in-conference teams(28) -Then either one or two against teams on the other side of the Mississippi. (26) Maaaaaaaaaaaybe tweak the schedule to see a fifth game a year between more traditional rivals, say five Boston-Buffalo and one Boston-Tampa. Detroit is kind of a stalemate though....They could get Chicago and Colorado, but they do lose out on four of the other Original Six teams. Ultimately, I think that's the best solution. Vancouver and Dallas get to see Crosby and Ovechkin. Florida gets to see Luongo again. Ottawa and Toronto play each other twice in each city, which keeps a rivalry fresh without overdoing it. If you think about it, there's enough history one way or another between almost every team in the league, especially in the playoffs. That's plenty to build on.

Speaking of the Leafs....why is Mats Sundin killing so many penalties lately? Albeit effectively? If your best player is 35 years old, that means, what, 18/19 minutes a game? Why would they make five or six of those a night down-a-man? I suppose I can't argue with results, but it's still perplexing.
-
Yeah, that's true. I mean, I remember getting REALLY stoked for Leafs-Habs games when they played twice a year. They'll have played double thtat by XMas. Does that necessarily make a rivalry better? As Baron said, even if they played, say, once a month every month in the season, or even a home-and-home will do the trick. But Leafs-Bruins on back to back Thursdays?
-
See, I think I disagree. A rivalry is better suited, once built, to play two or three games a year instead of eight. And we're right back where we started.
-
Trade, say, Chicago for Toronto and I like it. ALSO, Gordie Howe Division > Bobby Clarke Division
-
By the way, Baron - Tyler Brayton is his name. You'll be lucky if you don't get one next time I see. If you and I were Raiders lineman, Walter would not have been sacked nine fucking times.

^ I can't contribute anything to the B's discussion...That said, you touched on a legit #1 starter....Who's really got a starter to shop around, at least pre-playoffs on the horizon? San Jose, maaaybe Montreal, maaaaaybe Ottawa? NSkie said Cujo, which makes sense, assuming the fire sale in Phoenix starts soon, which seems kinda likely.

Thank you. No love for the Hip reference? EDIT: Wikipedia and Google check out. Fuck, that's a load off my mind. Thanks, CC and Invader.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember that from SmackDown!, not from RAW. I have that on tape somewhere, I'll try and look it up. Definitely Raw. I only knew because it was posted in either the YouTube thread or JoeDirt's thread recently.

Three way tie atop the NFC West. I'll gladly take the tie after a 1-3 start.

There's a video on YouTube entitled Ric Flair can dance all night long...It made an appearance in both the YouTube thread of General Wrestling and Chocolate Socket... Anyway, the first line of the video is a old Ric Flair promo (prolly mid-late 70's) in which Tony Schiavone introduces Ric Flair as coming to Winnipeg, and Flair says "Wally Cosmo, the great wrestling promoter...." Anyone ever hear of this guy? Has he done anything of note? Is he real? I haven't googled anything this intently since trying to find out who Ry Cooder was because of a Tragically Hip song, but thus far, the search has been in vain.
