Nova Scotians, New Brunswick, PEI or Newfoundland
CanadianGuitarist replied to a topic in General Chat
My dad and I often debate the name of our favourite Canadian city name. While Moose Jaw usually wins, the majority of our names come from the Atlantic Provinces: Miramichi, Burntchurch, Antigonish. -
Craig Janney sits and cries somewhere. Rumours on the Hotstove last nite were either of the Sutters and Espo, but all were considered long shots.

In keeping with the Lawrie thing, anyone heard from Craig Perks since then? Good for Van de Velde. Now he wont have to play in the Women's British to cement his legacy. Is there a Masters favourite, with it looking like Tiger will be pulling out?

That's the one I was thinking of. I thought it was on a Friday, but somethin didn't quite add up.

Anyone see the fight between Brashear-Umberger? Chris, my money's on you. Pretty good, but I swear to God I saw Brashear use his knees a couple times. Cheechoo's up to 46 goals. I might give Thornton the Hart nod even without a playoff spot but the Sharks are back in the playoffs*. *pending result of Nucks-Oilers.

They definitely had a match in August 97. It was on free tv, but I don't remember which. Sorry. I got nothin.

Baron, you and I are the only Canadians who have actually read that book. Stop referring to it. But since the cat's out of the bag: PEI is so small that when you plug in your razor, streetcars slow down. If they had streetcars. Which they don't. Because it's so small. I'll admit I didn't know a lot of those Newfoundland facts. Is it really going to be Brad Gushue day every Feb. 24? -
Great looking leaderboard tomorrow, even if I'm convinced the guys on my pool team simply do not like money.

I was a doubter because of his age, but I'm very impressed: A good feud, good work rate and a great character. Am I on the bandwagon? My MSN name currently reads "My Name Is Collins. And I Love To Fight". I've even convinced my girlfriend Ashley to let me call her Lashley. I forget to whom it belongs, but Finlay's Fightin Round The World is gold. Money in the bak, if you weeeel.

Edited for selfishness My grandfather and I, who have a traditon dating eight years of watching the Habs/Leafs whenever possible, put on an absolute symposium of swears tonight, as I would have preferred a Leafs win in OT. My grampa, a leafs fan, didn't like the score. And we certainly didn't like seeing the result get trumped either way by the Thrashers win. I'd sell my genitals(hey, weirder stuff has been sold on EBay) to watch the Nucks-Oilers, which has been blacked out in my area.

Two more confirmed for the Hall of Fame

I know the New Blackjacks was a flop, but wasn't one of them really the son of the original Blackjacks? -
Christ, of all the games for the B's to lose from my perspective. Even with the Habs loss, I had considered the Thrashers game last night more important on the grounds that the Habs had a game at hand on the Thrash. Vancouver takes the lead in the Oil series. There's no way I'll be on time for work Sunday. As I did two years ago, it'll be a seven hour Saturday night hockey marathon. Anyone remember game six and seven of their quarters two years ago? I got a combined seven hours sleep that weekend, being up to watch both games.
-
I'd say more impressive than his position stats you mentioned, are whom he's leading in those stats. Things look good in Hogtown, with the Leafs, Islanders and Bruins all winning midway/at the end of the second. Boy, imagine how different the connotations of that statement would have been ten days ago.

As I just said to a buddy, Wrestlemania is like going to the peelers: It's more about the comradery then the show. The girls could be ugly, the time had will likely still be good.

Great quote from by former Oiler and current Canuck Anson Carter re: the first game tonight of a 3 straight series between the two: "It's big, but it's not make or break. What if we win all 3, then lose the next ten?" Proving his point is the fact that there's six points seperating Calgary and Vancouver (1-4) in the Northwest, and only 3 separating ninth place Vancouver and sixth place Colorado. How old is Rod Brind A'mour? He looked probbaly 45 or 50 when i just saw him.

A smiliar thread was started when it was announced Bret would be entering the HOF(which I still say I'll believe when I see). I don't think of the Montreal thing as my first thought of Bret Hart. Probably not even first three or four thoughts. I still think of Bret as one of the greatest performers and wrestlers of my time.

I dunno..Pretty good response when she screamed 'Do you think I'm psycho now" at Ashley. -
The Score Tonight, despite Sexireo and Micallef's RAMPANT use of bad similies, just elabourated on our Northwest theories with a few big things this week: The Oil play four in six, all against NW division opponents. Vancouver play 11 of 13. And I'm more and more worried about Atlanta with each day. Montreal's in the midst of five in seven, which makes the hot Thrashers(5-0 over Buffalo!) an even bigger bother. This would have been much easier to swallow if not for Tampa, who come back to earn a point, albeit with a 6-5 OT loss.

If they're using Big Time, a HHH video featuring 'Sledge Hammer' couldnt, wouldnt and shouldnt be far behind. -

This band is fucking terrible. Is the band leader Amish Roadkill? I still am not used to Lawler hating the Mcmahons. -
The Ducks have points in five of six, now, but I too, just don't see them making it. For all the talk of all the Canadian teams making it, wouldnt it be wierd to see Vancouver and Edmonton as the ones that don't instead of Toronto? The situation will only get worse for one of the two, with 3 back to backs this week. *May have spoke too soon. 5-0 Atlanta, 4-1 Habs so far.
-
I wholeheartedly agree, but I really think a team needs to make the playoffs for a player to be eligible for the Hart. Of course, there's what, 6 points seperating fifth and tenth? Looks pretty good, especially with Vancouver going out of their way not to win games.
-
Im sure this is kilometres different from what I said six weeks ago, but talk me out of Jagr for Pearson, Thornton for Hart.* Notwithstanding the play of Lundqvist, Jagr is the reason this team is in the playoffs. Thornton has elevated his entire team. Not one living breathing human can tell me they would have forseen Cheechoo fighting for the Richard Trophy this time last year. * Of course, the second paragraph is, or should be, moot if San Jose doesn't make it.
